Remember BW coming on as a second half sub at AFC Stoneham pre season & thinking as a trialist, he didn't impress & wouldn't be signing for us. Next day he did, his goalscoring record at previous clubs wasn't prolific, but delighted with his form & goals so far. Definitely the 20 goals a season striker we've been wanting for quite a while. Who says RH can't spot a good player? Yep, agree with that - you really don't get into Aston Villa's scouting set up if you can't spot a good player.
I wonder if it was RH who spotted Williamson?
Certainly a good signing so far, no question about that.

Great character to salvage a point last night, that was needed. Hopefully it gives the players a bit of confidence going into Saturday's game which will be tough. I think that's the luck we've been due, Maidenhead should have been 6/7-1 up within an hour.
Same problem though once again, an ordinary side battering us because they are simply quicker and first to the ball. We lack pace throughout the side, that's been evident for a long time. Sam Matthews although losing the ball a fair bit showed a lot of promise, he had some energy and creativity - something we have been lacking. Hudson coming on looked decent, had a bit of pace and could cross with both feet.
Nice gesture from RH after the game, taking us forward though - still a lot of questions. Had we lost last night, I think that could of been it...

Lets face it whether you love Richard Hill or dislike Richard Hill he will remain as our manager certainly through to the new year at the very least.
Some players are there basically seeing out their contracts, some signings have been disappointing and of course we have a hospital ward at the moment.
The dire football and lack of pace has made it painful to watch but we are in a major transition period. Is RH the right man to carry us through it? probably for now yes. Is he the long term solution? absolutely not.
Realistically its his decision whether he steps down or not, lets hope when the time comes he does that - for the good of the club...
But for the interim lets expect to hear those excuses... Blame the ref, blame the injuries, blame the wind direction, now we have two home games to cope with... just not fair!!!

feel like all these points lost could cost us come the end of the season can't remember the last time i saw us win at home In Richard Hill's words... we can't win the play offs in November, its not April yet... that was a great point... considering we were missing players through injuries...

I once told Richard Hill if it wasn't for Paul Doswell he wouldn't of known Eastleigh Football Club... he didn't like that much!!
If it wasn't for Doswell the club would be playing Southern League Premier (at best) - so I have heaps of respect for Dossie and what he did at EFC - Malone & Murray took the club as far as they could and now SD will hopefully continue to take us upwards.
I remember some cracking away days with Doswell & Mark Dennis in charge. I remember one game Banger was sent off for swearing at Dennis who was giving him some on the touchline!!

No disputing Richard Hill's record in his first stint at the club, the winning conference south season was amazing and the greatest year in the clubs history. He will go down as a successful manager - like him or not, he did what was asked and won us promotion to the Conference. Respect for that.
Where the issue is in my opinion is for him to name himself as Manager now. Stewart needs a DOF, somebody who knows the game, trusts and can deal with the footballing aspect of the club.
I'm sure everyone's in agreement it was the right decision for him to come back during last season to steady the ship, after the carnage Martin Allen caused.
As hard as they are to find, we need a Cowley type of manager, young, energetic and hungry. Maybe we had that in Toddy, but we will never know.
My worry is Richard Hill is very narrow, and would somebody want to be manager with him as DOF? I think he will want to much control...

CLARKE PARTINGTON - ESSAM - JOHNSON - GREEN REASON - DRURY - TAYLOR - COULSON MANDRON - WILSON
FLITNEY AYO - CRESSWELL - HOWE - GREEN MCSHEFFERY - MILEY - HOLLANDS - CONSTABLE MCCALLUM - WILLIAMSON
The difference between those two sides - I know which side would win!
Creativity, quality, flair and a bit of pace...
Truth be told - the squad isn't as strong as it was a year or so ago. Is that Hill's fault? no not all of it, but 7 of those that started last night are HIS signings...

Well that was simply embarrassing last night.
Free entry and the majority if not all would have not been impressed. Not with the result but the lack of quality and poor style of play from our team...
So many issues at the moment, not sure where to begin!
I thought it was poor of him to single out Greener in his post match interview stating ‘I will get the blame, but it wasn’t me who headed the ball to their player’. This is to a player who has performed consistently for the past 4-5 years – if it was Hollands, Cresswell, Howe would of he said that? Absolutely not.
The head it, kick it, whack it style of play is atrocious. Surely the players cannot enjoy playing like that? The players are amazing in training... do they play small sided games and keep ball or stand on the half way line and whack it at the crossbar all day?
We have been undone by a side two leagues below us and a side bottom of the league – they have passed better than us, kept the ball better and shock... have been quicker than us to every ball!
I’ve said it once and I will say it again, we have been unable to replace Andy Drury & Glen Southam before him, nobody wants to get on the ball and control the game...
We are heading for a nose dive and anybody who thinks we will be safe from relegation must be brainwashed.
We will win the odd game but with the style of play and lack of quality/pace in the side I can see us being dragged towards the bottom four.
So disappointing now the ground is looking fantastic...

Sam Matthews, Reda Johnson, Sam Togwell, Graham Stack all injured tomorrow & Ryan Cresswell (Doubtful)
Andrew Boyce & Gavin Hoyte suspended.
I really hope Miley gets a go in midfield along with Strevens - I don't think RH has much choice with the defence or midfield... This is what I'm expecting to see...

We have been unable to replace Andy Drury - simple as that.
Sam Togwell & Ben Strevens cannot play together, no creativity and now lacking a fair bit of pace...
Let's not forget how big of a player Joe Partington was going forward as well.. Him & Greener on either wing offered us an outlet and quite often allowed us to play down the wings with attack minded football.
Hoyte & Wood struggle to get past the half way line, in fact in the second half towards the end RH changed Greener to full back to offer us a bit more going forward.
We have no flair, we have a team of 'hard workers' which is what RH has tried to create - so far it hasn't been particularly successful and certainly not easy to watch... possibly the reason for a drop in attendances.

5 at home in the next 7... that can't be fair surely?
Joking aside a big few games coming up, I think we need a minimum of 7pts from the next 4

Love him or hate him his post match interview was embarrassing.
'Is he the last man? well no he still has the keeper to beat' Well yes Richard... He is the last man.
The fact is a team from the Southern League played us off the park on our own turf.
Togwell & Strevens in the middle of the park says it all really.
Lets hope McCallum & Williamson can create chances off scraps because we simply have nothing about us at the moment.
Don't blame Richard though, blame the referee please.
On a positive the pitch played well!
