Another defensive nightmare. We have the 2nd worst defensive record in the NL and it matters little who the manager is if we cannot defend or manage / see out a game when we are in front.
Without Maccas goals we would be down the bottom with Oxford City. Talking of Macca does anyone know why he was not in the 16 today?

Referee for this game is James Westgate from Sunderland. I reckon this is over 600 miles round trip. Hopefully, he will be a lot better than Ed Duckworth at Newport.

I did not hear any announcement so does anybody know the winning ticket number and the amount of the prize at the Reading game 03/12/23?
On top of a great result the winner yesterday surely got a bumper payout and, before I dump my tickets, I would like to be sure that it was not me.
Thanks everyone

Something had to change and SD has acted sooner rather than later.
A possible name in the hat - Neil Ardley. Has lot of National League experience including with Notts County and Solihull Moors and is not currently with a club.

I was amongst the almost 200 Spitfires fans at Solihull.
For 80 minutes, we bossed a game against a decent side. True we dropped off in lat 10 minutes and conceded late on but we would have won were it not for the excellent Solihull goalkeeper Tommy Simpkin who I believe is on loan from Wolves.
We have a lot of new players (as did Solihull) and it is bound to take time for the team to fully gel.
This will be a good result provided we back it up by beating Wealdstone

Chris left field after about 25 minutes at Bashley seemingly with a leg injury

According to the information supplied at last weeks Forum the 5 players who remain under contract are Joe McDonnell, Vinnie Harper, Jake Hesketh, Danny Whitehall and Michael Kelly.
There are some youngsters as well but all the remaining first team squad from the 2021 / 22 season will be out of contract.

I have not been able to find details of the "bus to Bromley" - can you please tell me what the details and booking arrangements are.

According to the NL website it is the away game at Stockport which should have been held held 21/11 which has been rearranged for 05/01/21 - seemingly it is not a game which has been "brought forward"

Watched first half on BT.Towards the end conditions were farcical and dangerous. Referee absolutely correct to call off in my opinion.
To my mind obvious move would be to rearrange game for Saturday 28/11. Both our scheduled opponents Kings Lynn and Hartlepools opposition Stockport are involved in FAC round 2. With a heavy fixture schedule -particularly in the back end of the season - the last thing Spitfires want is a blank Saturday especially as Saturday 21/011 versus Stockport is already off because Stockport are self isolating following positive covid test or tests.
Hartlepool will not relish having to make the long journey south again but would surely prefer a Saturday afternoon than a Tuesday night.

Apart from Ben Williamson who seemingly had an injury Spitfires put out their entire first team squad and totally outclassed Salisbury with an impressive and thoroughly professional display.
One feature of this game and that against Oxford was that the team pressed high up the field. Last season I felt that we were often guilty of backing off too much allowing the opposition to play out from the back or pick a pass in midfield but if we are going to use this high pressing game this seasons opponents are going to find that we are a very difficult side to play against.
On a night when everyone did well it is perhaps unfair to pick out individuals but I was particularly impressed by the trialist up front and especially Rob Atkinson at the back - he looks to be a cultured defender with a superb left foot - which he put to good use blasting in a brilliant long range goal.
Bring on Notts County!

The referee for this game is Lloyd Wood who was also in charge of our FA Cup defeat to Hampton & Richmond - our worst performance of the season in my opinion - hopefully not a bad omen!
In truth the team did not play well against Dover or Wrexham but I hope that on Saturday the boys start on the front foot and put in the sort of thoroughly professional away performances we saw at Maidstone & Barrow (and others).

With Tom Denton up front at 6 foot 8 inches ( scored hat trick in mid week FA cup win over Billericay) and Sam Muggleton likely to come of the subs bench with his prodigious throws I think we know what we are going to get from Chesterfield. I was one of the 48 die hards at Barrow last week. Although they never troubled us to their credit they tried all game to pass the ball on the floor but this weekend our defenders will be in for a real aerial battle.
With a physical game the role of the referee could be very important. The appointed official is Carl Brook who is one of the most experienced referees in NL (most are in their first season at this level). Although he is not averse to flashing cards in my view he is one of the strongest officials in our league and it will be very interesting to see what happens if MA throws a wobbly!

Having played only 1 game plus 2 sub appearances since leaving us has been transfer listed by Port Vale
In my view would be excellent signing. Young and in his spell with Spitfires showed great composure and his commitment was such that he was made captain for a number of games.
Because of number of players who are still under contract Hessy is clearly limited in extent to which he can change squad but if we could get Callum back would be great start.

Here we go then
Stack
Hoyte Johnson Boyce Greener
Togwell Yeates Hollands Constable
McCullum Zebroski
I believe we are really strong in both back 5 and midfield. Organisation is really good too. I think McCallum could get us 20+ goals and my only concern is about second striker - I dont think he will make start but in friendlies ( I have seen all but one) Ross Stearn was arguably the best player of the entire squad.
Overall I am very optimistic that we can achieve a least a top 7 (play off) position. Bring on Bromley!
