Shocked. I didn’t make it today, but I really thought we’d win. In terms of our survival prospects a draw would have been a decent result, but we couldn’t even manage that from 2-0 up :-(

It was so easy in the first half - 2-0 up in 15 minutes, the first from a lucky free-kick, the second an arrowed shot from Maguire who had an eternity to line up the shot. The opposition were totally ineffectual.
Then we went to sleep from a free-kick, they scored, the ball was then hoofed up in the air all the time, the ref gave a few yellows, and they got an equaliser as Nige unluckily turned in a good cross. They had a lot of joy down the left and yet another cross from there gave them the winner.
In the second half we sat back a bit, looked complacent and couldn't raise our game again when we had to. The subs came far too late, Taylor for Atangana looked more defensive than attacking.
At least we played with a left-back (Vokins) who is a left back, and he did quite well. Boldewijn was in his proper postion on the right and looked good coming forward. Scott stood in for McDonnell and looked pretty secure. I wouldn't blame him for the winner as a few fans were doing at the time. Maguire was captain and tried hard, he seems to be getting a bit of form back. Nwabuokei scored again and had a reasonable game. Our midfield was dominant in the first half. But we still persisted in allowing the central defenders to make the majority of the passes, mainly aimless long balls. Quigley was on his own trying to head them on (Macca wasn't playing) so it wasn't a good tactic.
It was the complete collapse in the last 35 minutes that was the talking point. How much the manager has responsibility for this (I see another thread has opened on this) is hard to say. How about the players? At half time we were virtually safe. Now we've got three away games againast bottom six teams fghting for their lives followed by the final games at hime to Halifax, who may still be chasing a play-off spot. As I said a few weeks ago, 50 points may not be enough, I'd say we should be looking for 3-4 points still to be absolutely sure.

Another defensive nightmare. We have the 2nd worst defensive record in the NL and it matters little who the manager is if we cannot defend or manage / see out a game when we are in front.
Without Maccas goals we would be down the bottom with Oxford City. Talking of Macca does anyone know why he was not in the 16 today?

Not surprised, he's been carrying the team all season

53 is the magic number, 51 points is the most a relegated side has amassed in the National League which could go this season. Last game of the season Boreham Wood v Ebbsfleet means somebody has to drop points, that could be vital to us if we are not out of danger by then. One small possible advantage, we play away at Wealdstone on the 16th April....Poor Wealdstone have to play on the 9th, 11th, and 13th, they could well have a few very tired players by then. Halifax have to play York, Ebbsfleet, Kidderminster and Ourselves. I also think its a bloody disgrace how Chesterfield have switched off lately, they are on their holidays already, I wish we still had them to play with their attitude.

Chesterfield already up so giving others a chance for contracts. Ebbsfleet completely different side from when we faced them earlier in season had them Good Friday and Searle has them playing some good stuff. Wealdstone and Halifax both have lots of matches to play. Borehamwood are awful so hopefully this is the season they go down

Funny how we all see it differently, I thought Enzio was all over the place defensively 2nd half and didn't look that bothered. Davis didn't do anything about it until we were 3-2 down. Personally I think Devonshire got his 2nd half tactics spot on and that's in part down to Davis. Agree with most of your comments about the first half though.

I said Boledwijn looked good coming forward. He's the only one who tried to cross the ball. Two of the goals came down his side, so I wasn't saying he was defensively good. He wasn't. But then most of the team weren't good in the second half. Not sure what KD had told them to do, but whatever it was, it backfired.
Agree Dev turned it round at half time for the Magpies, as I said we rather sat on our lead and it's not our best look. Every season I wonder how Maidenhead stay up. They always manage to get results. And with three of their games still to come at home, they look a decent bet to do it again.
