Bury have been over spending for years and years. Last season they had several players earning between £8,000-10,000 per week; in league 2! No-one to blame but themselves. While they were winning promotion last season, was there any Bury fans complaining about how they did it??

I think with the new financial reality we have at EFC, its not realistic to expect free games. Yes its a great idea, and were we to get a windfall thanks of an FA cup run, that would be a good way to spend some of the cash, but without extra cash, I think finances will be tight, and I doubt free games will be seriously considered.

Full marks to the club for creating this position.

And who were all these people convinced attendances were going to crash? All gone quiet over there...

Staggered he hasn't signed for a league club. The signing of the summer...so far.

so if he does intend to leave the club his departure does not appear to be imminent.
He didn't "intend" to leave EFC and 24 hours before he decided to join Sunderland, he was saying he was fully Committed to Eastleigh and couldn't see himself leaving. Then BANG he is off. That is just the way he works. I'm not saying he is leaving Sunderland, or that if he did he would rejoin us, all I am saying is that he himself can't be sure what he is doing, as he is prone to act very impulsively.

Stewart acts impulsively. He could already feel differently.

Yes agreed. Fact is we have to operate within the budget we have. What other clubs do or don't do is a matter for them and them alone. If we sign players on long contracts and they get injured, hit bad form or lose interest, we have to pay those players week after week, month after month, AND get someone in to replace them. We just can't afford to do this. What all this probably means, is that we are going to look for younger, less established players who can afford to take a lower wage and a shorter contract. It has always been the case that the long term future of this club is about developing younger players; which is why I have been banging on about the youth policy for so long.
If we get our recruitment and training right of footballers under 23/24, who are hungry to learn and fully committed, then everything else will fall into place.

He is seriously big - one HUGE advantage as far as I am concerned.

Its a common theme; players leave EFC to play for "bigger" clubs and end up not playing much football.

If he can get fit, and stay fit, he will be a major signing.

I think last season MY was excellent. I suspect however he won't be a regular with Fylde, and if he isn't, I think he will be a lot less effective. I think last season, might have been his last really strong one. It wouldn't surprise me if he didn't move into coaching or managing one of the younger teams. Given his probable salary, probably a good time to say goodbye.

Dreadful news, especially for someone so young. Really feel for his poor, poor family.

I have never bought programmes at Eastleigh, and wouldn't buy the current one if I wasn't given one. I suspect that we won't be issuing one for much longer. My bet is that within a few years apart from Premiership clubs, very few clubs will be producing one.
