We've seen a change to our matchday programme both in size and price.
Instead of £3 it was £1. It had fewer pages but still had the necessary information, as far as I'm concerned. I for one welcomed this decision.
I just wondered if anyone could tell me how sales last season were compared to the earlier versions? I think I saw more people with programmes last season, but I wondered how many more bought it.
Thanks.... HL

Agree with you, HL. Really, the only thing missing was a little more info on the opposition's players. Think I bought one at every game I attended last season.

Last season's programmes were great value for a £1. Hope we continue to issue them.

Personally, I'd pay £3 and have something decent. The current programme is pretty dross and doesn't give much more information than the free team sheet in the club shop. If it sells more than the old £3 one then fair enough. But as a programme collector, I like articles, reflections and history being remembered. I enjoyed the look back at previous seasons that were included a couple of seasons back. I buy a programme as a souvenir of the game but maybe I am old fashioned!

Think I’d have to agree with boyatt. I bought programme every game season 16/17 and 17/18 but stopped last season cus felt they were pretty worthless. Admit there was a lot of needless stuff in the £3 ones but the £1 isn’t much of a keep sake. I think they could still keep them cheap but like someone else said they need more about opposition teams. If a player from non league breaks out into the premier league it’s nice to look back at the game they were playing in against Eastleigh and hearing a bit about them, And maybe some interesting player interviews from Eastleigh players etc

It is probably not bad value for £1, but I would like to see a bit more about what is going on in the wider footballing community. I think that most Eastleigh fans are not lifelong supporters of the club and have other football experiences that are meaningful to them. I also think that well researched articles can generate a certain amount of interest.

I have never bought programmes at Eastleigh, and wouldn't buy the current one if I wasn't given one. I suspect that we won't be issuing one for much longer. My bet is that within a few years apart from Premiership clubs, very few clubs will be producing one.

I would agree that the trend is going to online programmes, so its days may be numbered anyway.
I think there is a difference in opinion as to what people want here - a 'matchday/club magazine' which is probably what the £3 version was aiming for, and a simple 'programme' with the basics, such as the £1 version here. Personally I think the matchday/club magazine format is better suited online, since it cuts production costs. I think it would be nice if we could produce something like that anyway, to keep people better informed (which is a common criticism of the club). But for something to read on the day, as just a souvenir of the match, then I think our £1 version is good value, although I think some of the improvements suggested here could be included without raising the price.
Looking down the pyramid, by the way, I think our £1 programme is miles better than a lot of the programmes selling for £1 to £2 in the Wessex/Southern League., Although some of the content of those programmes is better, more focussed on the club/the league/wider aspects. most of them aren't.

I know that some clubs produce an online club, but I would guess that the majority do not and I think it will be a long time if ever when only the Premiership clubs produce a hard copy of the match programme.

I`m with you Boyatthood. I collect programmes of every game I`ve gone to from 1974, ( only Great Torrington v Bideford and North Leigh v Eastleigh pre season friendly are missing, from the thousands watched ). I like good quality information of the club`s, be it home or away. Its part of the matchday experience and proof of attendance, that I hope will continue for many years to come.

Think the change made a lot of sense. With many people now reliant on getting news online, programs are becoming less relevant and I'm sure are bought less than they were years ago.
But I think its good to keep the hard copy going and a shame some clubs have got rid of them.

I am maybe a bit old fashioned, but do like to read a program for a few minutes before the game.

I think that Mick Geddes used to do a page on local non-league football. With the Echo cutting down on its' non-league coverage and Wendy Gee having recently left the paper I think it is good if people can have an opportunity to read about what is going on in the local football league scene especially as some of the supporters have been involved in local non-league football for a long time.
