Fair enough. He did ok for us although what is he 34/35 now so he’s not really full of pace, and for everything good he does he’ll do some equally as crap. He does stay fairly injury free though and all those assists to head on a stick don’t lie so guess he might have another season in him.

Yeah I guess it will be as a squad player, we don't possess much pace though

After last season MacCallum and Yates are like a pair of socks, one not great without the other, so no surprise they went together.
Yates is a class act and would be a total waste as a squad player, he is a confidence player and needs to play regularly or would be quite mediocre and Macca would suffer as a result. I am quite sure he was bought to be a fixture in their team.
It is really disappointing to see us loose the the backbone of our team of last season, especially to a bog ordinary club like Solihull.
I have been a supporter of this club for 14 years and I can honestly say that I bought our new season tickets with a lot less enthusiasm that ever before. This management team do not communicate with their support and as a result I would not be surprised if season ticket sales are well down on last season.
Disillusioned delux!

Disillusioned already, in May. Surely some kind of record!

Yeates was our most creative player last season, sometimes our only creative player, and he would be very hard to replace. As well as his goals Macca was also very useful in defending set-pieces.
It would be a bit of a waste of his talent if Solihull don't give him a regular spot, and he hasn't got long to go in his career!
Solihull are not a 'bog ordinary' club any more. They finished second in the NL last season, they are developing their ground, so they must have a lot of backing (can't find out from where, though). They also have a very good manager. Having just signed the league's top scorer they must be looking to better last season's achievements.

Disillusioned already, in May. Surely some kind of record! What has the month of the year got to do with it? Being disillusioned with the on goings at the club is not confined to the playing season. There should be speculation as to how we are going to strengthen last seasons successful team, but what have we got? Who's next? Cut budgets, when we have already had natural cuts by discarding the expensive likes of Constable and Cresswell. Just how much is the budget being cut by? This is no longer a progressive club, we are supposed to be secure, with strong income streams, well financed and well sponsored. Yeh right! either Stewart was bullshi77ing or management is not making a very good job of it. In my opinion , the club has been put on ice for the "if" or "when" Stewart decides to return. These puppets running the club don't have the moola to take the club forward, they are just there to ensure it survives and marks time. Before anyone jumps on their high horse, I am not one who normally criticises our club but the obvious lack of drive and ambition is depressing. Maybe I am wrong, maybe season tickets sales are going to hit record levels, any bets?

Hope they don't sign him, as I've said, he's an important part of our team.

Sounds like a rerun of this forum at this time last year. Everything has turned to rubbish, the people running the club have no idea what they are doing. Now SD has stopped funding the club there is only one direction the club is going to go in. Season tickets sales, and attendances will fall off a cliff. A guaranteed relegation battle awaits and we probably won't survive it. All downhill from here. Enjoy the ride!

The feeling may have been similar this time last year, but we ended up in the play-offs and a penalty-kick or two away from the final at Wembley.
Was that just a flash in the pan?
Any frustration expressed here at the moment is probably caused by lack of communication as much as anything else. There might be great things going on behind the scenes, great signings planned, but we don't know.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing some interesting well-known new teams (Notts County, Chorley, Stockport) next season, and if the battle for promotion to the EFL is as close as last season, then I won't complain.
As for Eastleigh, as I've said before, as long as I see the players putting in the effort very week and upsetting some of the bigger teams, that's fine with me. And doing well in the cups.... I expect the squad to be younger, I expect some hits and misses in recruitment, and I expect some inconsistency again as a result. Most of the teams in the league were pretty inconsistent last season, which benefitted us. Not sure if it will happen again this season.

The trouble is SD gave us a false expectation. He raised the bar with what we could hope for, under his stewardship. He almost guaranteed that we would become a football league club, and then would be able to move onto league 1 and even the championship was not beyond us. Well there is no harm in having aims ambitions and dreams, but Stewart is no longer with us, and possibly will never come back. So we don't have a super rich multi millionaire throwing the cash whenever he fancies; no we have an honest bunch of people behind the scenes quietly going about their business.
For a club of our size it seems to me mid table National league is about right. As I have said before I have no idea what our budget is, but I do have a good idea that the people running the club, are Eastleigh supporters, hard working bright men and women, and they will absolutely do their best for our club. Sure it would be good to have more money and if anyone reading this has some money or knows someone who does, that can help the club financially then Kenny will be overjoyed to hear from them. We won't spend money we don't have, and if that means PM, MY or anyone else can go elsewhere and earn more money, then good luck to them, we will need to find replacement players who can do a job that we can afford. In the meantime lets make a REAL go at the cups, this will raise profile, attendances and cash.

I agree that those who run the club are absolutely dedicated to the cause and have to run the club to a budget but equally I think they need to exude ambition and confidence that promotion is not beyond the club. It's really not. Its still May and patience is the order of the day with announcements of signings but with that I hope to hear the management and ownership be, at the very least, bullish about the prospects for the season and the future. If they're not and we hear bland statements about 'stabilisation' they should get out and put the club up for sale to someone who is willing to take the club to the next step.

If to live within our means, means mid table mediocrity - so be it. Having seen Eastleigh struggle in the lower half of the Wessex league in the 1990's, you won't get me sniffing at national league football. Personally if we don't have the cash to push on, I for one, don't want to hear a load of BS about how we are going to do this that or the other. Lets just keep quiet and let the football do the talking.
