We have 63 points not 62 in the league table I can see That point was significant as it means we can't now be relegated this season. I mention this because it was probably the only positive feature of the day.

Can't afford not to win on Monday.
Although we are 5 points behind Dover and Braintree, our poor goal difference really makes this a 6 point gap with 8 games left for all three clubs. Don't want the season to end at Grimsby.

As long as they aren't as demoralised as Welling.

"If Dover win today then the play offs are gone." Dover 3-0 up before half-time !! If things stay the same we would be 5 points behind a play-off spot on equal number of games played (38) with Dover and Braintree who will be on 68 points. As I type the Froggies have gone 4-0 up

"Why we persist with playing it long for the first half hour or so is beyond me. Before the sending off Welling were easy on the eye, keeping the ball on the floor and moving it well, they got into the final third comfortably and began to look dangerous. The sending off changed all that, from then on they could'nt really threaten our goal, but they worked tirelessly and deserved the point."
What I didn't understand was the decision to play hoofball for the entire first half - I know the surface is less than ideal but frankly this was embarrassing. No clear shots on target for 40 minutes. Second half was a lot better (but it couldn't have been any worse to be honest). There seemed to be much more effort, more belief. Why couldn't we play like that for 90 minutes?

For me it seems a rather pointless gesture to qualify for the play offs knowing we simply won't win them, there are 5 better teams than us in this division. The history of play offs at all levels are littered with teams that struggle to make the fifth slot and then go on to win the prize. I wish they didn't exist but if the football gods give us a chance, who am I to argue?

The only real data of significance are found in the table on "opposition still to be faced" -
Eastleigh: 11th, 20th, 23rd, 22nd, 18th, 3rd, 14th, 21st, 4th, 13th. Only 2 teams in the top ten still to be played. We have the best (ie weakest opposition on paper) run in with Dover in second. Pity we don't play on paper.

Great game to watch. We could have got a hat full. Lost track of number of chances that we had, but no criticism intended. 3 points off 4th place with 2 games in hand. I'd take that on 12 March.

Card count in League games only stands at 54 Yellows and 7 Reds......Only Forest Green has a worse record, 60 Yellows and 5 Reds. I thought 7 and 54 was worse than 5 and 60 Surely Reds count more.

Actually, our disciplinary record has been awful all season. We've headed the Foul Play League in the NLP for almost every week from the start.
On the plus side, we've began to get some consistency at home (when we've been able to play) - Our last 8 have seen only the one loss (to Gateshead in the Trophy), 3 draws and four wins.
