We looked at this question a few seasons ago -
1948/9 Southampton Senior Cup (R1) : SR(Eastleigh) Athletic 4 - Swaythling 0
1949/50 Hampshire Intermediate Cup (R2): Swaythling 3 - BR (Eastleigh) Athletic 0
1958/59 Hampshire League Div 2: Swaything 1 - BR (Eastleigh) Athletic 4; BR (Eastleigh) Athletic 0 - Swaythling 3
1959/60 Hampshire League Div 2: Swaythling 0 - BR (Eastleigh) Athletic 4; BR (Eastleigh) Athletic 4 - Swaythling 0
1959/60 Russell-Cotes Cup: Swaythling 3 - BR (Eastleigh) Athletic 0
1960/61 Hampshire League Div 2: Swaythling 2 - BR (Eastleigh) Athletic 2; BR (Eastleigh) Athletic 1 - Swaythling 2
Which seems to be 9 games between the 2 sides which Swaythling won 5, drew 1 and lost 3.

I recall we played them in the Cup/or Trophy a few years back. The manager then, Neil Cugley, is still there after some 23+ seasons with the club.

"Correspondence at the time of the takeover indicated that the EFL wanted assurance that the minority shareholders would continue their financial commitment to the club."
That was the essentially what I heard in "chatter" on the subject on Saturday - that the above remained the case.

Nice to see Stewart Donald (and family) and Richard Hill in the front row of the Main stand this afternoon. Lots of (different) explanations in the clubhouse and after the match in the car-park.

The Tannoy hasn't worked properly in parts of the Main Stand for the last 2 seasons - won't hold my breath

Jill and I dropped in at the club yesterday to pick up our season tickets and car parking pass. Club officials seem very pleased with the number of STs sold - apparently knocking on the door of 1000 already.

I can't really understand all of the shock and horror that seems to have been released by the news of this proposed new Euro league. This was being discussed in the US press when John Henry/ Fenway Sports Group took control of Liverpool FC in 2010. At his US press conference 11 years ago, John Henry stated his intentions to move in this direction.
The lack of relegation/promotion that the new league proposes is exactly what already exists in most professional US sport - baseball, hockey and gridiron all work to this model.
In the US fans have little or no impact on their clubs. The owners have purchased a franchise (much like McDonalds) which is a licence to print money. Seat prices have gone through the roof in the last decade or so but most owners don't give a toss whether their teams play in empty stadia because the real money comes from sponsors, media rights etc. I heard it told in the USA that when Mr Henry bought Liverpool his people had no idea that the Premier League operated relegation/promotion.
Bottom line for those of us who love non-league football is that if vast sums are taken out of the game in the UK by the 6 defecting clubs there will be less and less for the non-league.

The Sports Clubs Nostalgia page in the Sports section of today's Daily Echo includes 2 team photos from 1980 - EFC and Eastleigh B team.
Sadly no names but some of our older readers may be able to ID some of them. I haven't a clue, but I only started to watch games at the Silverlake in the late 1990s.

Another clean sheet for Max this afternoon against St Mirren and Livingston are in the final of the Scottish League Cup against St Johnstone on 28 Feb. Only issue is Max appears to have been hurt in the last couple of minutes and may miss the next league game or two.

Livingston's history goes back to WW2 when the football club was the works team of the Ferranti Engineering Company playing in Edinburgh Amateur leagues. They entered Senior football in 1953 when they started to play in the East of Scotland League.
As Ferranti Thistle they moved to the City Park ground in 1969, the former home of Edinburgh City, a Scottish league club in the 1930s and 1940s. They moved out in 1974 when they were elected to the Scottish league and became Meadowbank Thistle.
City Park became home to Spartans FC and I used to watch their games at the old City Park in the 1980s in what is now the Lowland League. Sadly the ground is no more and a supermarket now sits on the site.

3-1 win over Ross County, that's the 6th win in a row in the Premier League. Up to 5th in the League - just Hibs, Aberdeen, Celtic and Rangers above Livingston.

Max kept another clean sheet in Livingston's 0-3 win over Hibs at Easter Road.
That's their 9th win in their last 10 games in all competitions and means that Livingston are now up to 5th in the Premiership with a home tie against bottom club Ross County on Saturday.

Eastleigh before the motor car came to dominate our lives and when that postman delivered a postcard sent at 9.30am saying "will see you at 4.30 this afternoon at the station" in time for you to get to the station. Click on image to get a full page version.
