Having received the next set of drawings yesterday - there are only a couple of minor tweaks. So i would imagine we will be in a position to apply for planning end of next week and we will then issue a full press release. If the council pass the plans - get ready for a busy summer Spitfires!! Bobcat is ready and waiting!!

Great stuff, will one of the sides/stands be named after Derik Brooks at all, hopefully he'll be around to see it come to fruition.

Fantastic news about the stadium. The club is being developed at warp speed.
That's a nice thought erc about the stand naming. I expect Derik has every intention of still being around. He's probably got more chance than many of us youngsters including me.
I'd guess it's early days though re naming stands. Who knows what sponsorship opportunities might come up. So long as Derik's name is kept somewhere in the club as it is at the moment.

Exciting times ahead. I personally hope, the last bit they do is to knock down the Doswell stand. I know it's not practical, and a bit ugly but it was something we were very proud about for many years.

You'd think they'd like to begin with the two big open spaces alongside the Main Stand Rendel so that capacity doesn't drop too much while building it.

On the other hand there could be arguments for starting on the terraced side.
I'd imagine there are a lot of things to be considered and factors which affect the schedule, which we can only guess at until there's more info to be had.

I don't mind as long as it doesn't affect my parking space !

SD touched on this a while back - that was (then) his preferred option. It would minimise the time we have to spend with temporary changing rooms and the like.

I like the design of the main stand at FGR, with all the "hostility" lounges above & behind the seating. The problem with that stand is that it's on the wrong side of the ground! With our prevailing winds coming from the west, as our fans found out last week, wind & rain is generally going to blow into that stand, not to mention the problems with low sun shining right into spectators eyes at various times of the year. So to my mind, any main stand at any ground should, wherever possible always be on the west side, as we have it now.
We know the new ground is going to be in the form of a bowl (like St Mary's but smaller?), but I maintain that the principle facilities should be on the west side. It makes sense to start on the west side so that, as said before, temporary changing rooms are in place as short a time as possible, but mainly to provide the ground with much needed permanent offices, kitchen, bars, lounges etc sooner rather than later.
But then again, Stewart may have other ideas!

Agree with your logic Martin but would still like to see the main entrance and reception (again similar to FGR) with bars/gym etc on the east side fronting on to Stoneham Way. It was rumoured that the corporate areas are pencilled in for the McAvoy stand and i think that the changing rooms should stay under the West stand.

Well, Steve, logically the main entrance would still be on the west side, but we do need to smarten up our small window on the world that is Stoneham Way. The stadium surrounds from that road look scruffy & rather unkempt & need to be smartened up which a need stand will go towards doing. Where certain facilities within the stadium are placed, will be up to Stewart etc

you're right, from Stoneham Way it could be mistaken for a junk-yard.
