Personally I'm not surprised, the only question was when it was going to happen. I didn't think there would be an outside appointment.
Perhaps the feeling is now we've got nothing left to play for (apart from our NL status!) we may as well start to plan for the 'next stage' from now. Or perhaps RH has just had enough of being at the sharp end and AH is the most logical person to continue his work. Most would probably say it is the latter option.
I wonder if the restructure is seen as just for the rest of the season, or if is it seen as the future?
Either way, I'd like to thank RH for his hard work doing what he was brought in for last season - to settle things down. He did that, obviously this season it has obviously been a hard grind, though. He's had a lot of criticism (some justified, some not, IMO) and has continued to give his all.
The question is, as I've been asking all the way along - what direction do the club take now?

It would be easier to understand what the future direction might be if we knew what the new structure actually is. First team manager and director of football are job titles but we haven't been told what the actual roles are and who reports to whom. As mere supporters perhaps we won't be told but let's hope it's all clear within the club hierarchy.

What problem does this resolve?

I'm not surprised. I couldn't see SD sacking RH this season so could only predict this happening if anything. Hopefully will work, the players always seem very positive when talking about Hessy, it's clear he is liked.

It also alleviates the problem of a likely defeat at Daggers this weekend and followed by a failure to take 3 points on Boxing Day against Torquay being an almost impossible position for RH to stay. Let's hope AH's appointment brings some positive change to the style of play and we actually start picking up wins and learn how to see games out. One or two decent additions (even on loan) in January would also be welcome.

Yes man it is then.
I hope AH does well, I really do but feel RH will still have too much influence.
I would love to see Luke Garrard at Boreham Wood given a chance with a decent budget, he's doing well there and is a young manager.

Cushy little number for an abject failure. More jobs for the boys. Wish we could all do as badly in our jobs and get a seat ‘upstairs’

On Saturday I did not see RH. At that time I said how motivated and committed the players were and that it was a decent performance. I assume they probably knew about the change then. If so a difference has been made and I hope that continues. Willk will criticise whatever action is taken. Give the new system a chance before writing it off.In many jobs people are simply in the wrong role- move them to somewhere more suited and they can do well. Many supporters asked for this change so just for once Willk wind ur neck in.

I remember saying two months ago ‘he will go sooner rather than later and Eastleigh will be in a worse position than when he came back’ Correct on both points

RH will still have his say that is what a dof does and will still bring his own players in that is also what a dof does. So no change!!

Spot on Willk, RH was only saved by the last gasp equaliser v Maidenhead, otherwise i think he would have gone. Lucky he has moved into a job after a dismal spell. I am hoping AH has some room for manoeuvre and is not shackled from above or we are not going to see any change on the pitch. Not expecting anything on Saturday but a home win v Torquay would at least brighten things up. Still a long way to go in the season and a lot of things to improve.

Clearly all involved at the Club feel that this is a positive move. We have no idea of the job descriptions or how decisions are reached. If AH thought his position as Manager was compromised Im sure he would have moved on. He has a CV of higher league management so he is not a pushover. Give the man some respect|||||

I'm with Wilk on this one. Seems like swopping the numbers on the players shirts on Saturday & saying look we've got an exciting new line up his week. This really looks like an opportunity missed.
