Whatever you think of Paul Doswell, the fact is when he joined us we were going nowhere and when he left us, we were rocketing up the leagues and our facilities had hugely improved. He changed the whole ethos at the club, the financial and ownership structure, and without him, conceivably we would still be playing in the Wessex league in front of 90 people every week. I have nothing but respect for the man, and whoever he does join, will have every right to expect better times ahead.

I would play Matthews, Miley, Gobern and Zebroski. Apart from them I wouldn't play any player expected to start in midweek.
I can't see it will make any difference to our play off chances, whatever the result at Borehamwood. Absolutely that the key guys are fit, must take precedence over any other consideration.

Given that we have, hopefully, 2 away games coming up in 4 days against 2 of the best sides in the league IMO it would be bonkers not to rest pretty much everyone who will start in midweek. As a minimum we have to rest the 4, 5 or 6 key players. Imagine PM, or even worse RJ picking up an injury against Boreham Wood. It is obvious that Reda can't play 3 games in a week, and many other players are playing with knocks so we really have to be sensible and rest all the key players, and I'd actually rest virtually the whole first team. One thing is for sure whoever we play will have done exactly that.

VERY predictable. I reckon they could struggle next year. The next managerial appointment for them will be crucial.

Paul Doswell has vast experience, knows EFC very well, has excellent contacts and is not poor, so if we could bring him on board in some capacity, it could be a good move. I am however not convinced him returning as manager would be a good move. A lot of water has gone under the bridge since he left.

A much better performance from us today. We were solid, and sensible. MY scored the goal of the season, and in very warm conditions we controlled pretty much the whole game, without being spectacular. I thought Reda was our MOM again and we looked in control of things. I hope and expect we will play a very much second string at Boreham Wood, it doesn't matter if we lose that one, hopefully with a full week to prepare and recover we will give ourselves a chance of progressing. We are 3 victories away from the football league. If we can't believe that we can do it, then what has been the point of the last 7 months?

so I still say anything could happen.
If there was certainty in football we wouldn't bother going. If we do make the play offs, I am certain large numbers will make the trip(s). Few will be saying "we have no chance, so I won't bother going"

I'm looking no further than this Monday. If we have a fit RJ and play a similar way to how we did against Gateshead, we can win this. We are playing Maidenhead, not Barcelona. If we should win, then we will probably make the play offs. Granted playing as we have been recently, we will have absolutely no chance, but in a one off occasion we are capable of performing to a very high level. So although I see where you are coming from, I wouldn't write this season off just yet.

We are on a very poor run, remarkable that it is still ours to throw away. Ideally we would clinch top 7 Monday, rest the key players for our last game and be reasonable fresh going in to the Tuesday play off game. Trouble is at the moment, hard to see any outcome other than defeat no matter who we play in the play offs and that is, of course, assuming we get there. I am far from certain we will!
The key is going to be getting Reda J fit. Whatever anyone thinks of him, fact is with him we are a much better defensive unit and without him, we are all over the place. His fitness we will be the key to how this season eventually pans out.

If you strip out the first 8 games, their record is 14-8-13. At home it is 7-5-5. So we should regard them as a solid mid table team who have nothing much to play for. Anything from this game will be another significant step on the road to the play offs. Good luck to everyone involved with the club who will be there today. I may not be physically with you, but my thoughts certainly are.

We are better together, so what's the problem?

8th best in the league is very good. The fact that we have been at this level many years now will also be a factor, Salford, for example, are enjoying their first year at this level. That as well as the Manchester United connection will be the reason they are above us. If the Man Utd guys left and they were still in this league in 8 years time, I bet their gates would be nothing like as high. With all the new people moving into our area, if we are reasonably successful and IF we can have success in the cups, I think we could push even higher.

Attendances aren't fantastic, but they are pretty good. Lots of clubs in our league would love to have the average we do. Our home form has been pretty lousy for quite a while now, and that hasn't helped. I imagine that come the end of the season we will be in the top half for attendances and when you look at the size and history of clubs we are competing against, that isn't bad.

Reda back and we are much more solid at the back. No coincidence. Yet another set piece won the game, and it was always our best chance. I didn't think it was a bad game at all. Gateshead passed the ball around quite nicely, without creating much, and rarely look like scoring. We need to carry on defending like that, if we do, we will make the play offs and we might even surprise a few people in them. A huge, potentially season defining win.
