At least we had a proper ground in the Wessex League days. Here's the club in c1955 playing in someone's front garden in the Hampshire League.

Was walking down the bridle path to get the papers and I heard the noise long before it came into sight this morning. Over 5 minutes of aerobatics over Hedge End - the most glorious of sounds. Couldn't believe my luck. That badge came into my mind too.

Jill and I are still in effective lockdown at home. We've had no visitors nor seen any family since March and our "trips" out are no further than to Hedge End Post Office early (6.30 am), the local Tesco Express store and a weekly shop at Sainsburys Hedge End. We both are in the high risk category with poor immune responses due to pre-existing illness and therefore try to avoid busy places as much as we can. We've made just one trip out in the car to the New Forest to clean up the family grave in the churchyard, and leave some flowers. That's all we have to show for the last 5 months. We had hoped that there would have been some county cricket at the Rose Bowl - no chance of crowding at the 4-day games, but that has turned out not to be. Hampshire Cricket has been very efficient with regular updates and our 2020 season tickets/parking passes have been transferred to the 2021 season if we want that. As for football, I'm pretty gloomy. The virus doesn't seem to be going away and a summer virus pandemic is pretty unusual - most viruses do better in the winter when we're all packed together at home, work, schools etc. I fear we're stuck with this for the foreseeable future - so says this ex-virologist.

At Wrexham AFC's General meeting held on-line on Saturday it was confirmed that the season will start on 3 October unless the COVID situation worsens. However, and here's the bad news, the capacity will be only 2,600 !!! and that's at the Racecourse Ground, one of the biggest grounds in the National League.
It was confirmed that there would be no season tickets offered for the 20/21 season following a "request" from the National league.

The most commonly quoted capacity for the Silverlake is 5,500.

That was the plan some 3 weeks ago. Since then nothing official has been heard.
There was a local newspaper piece from Maidenhead United last weekend complaining about the continuing silence from the League.

Further to my comments, I've just dug out one of our metal badges showing the spitfire in flight with Eastleigh FC on the top and on the bottom The Spitfires, why wasn't that badge used? I just went and looked at Google images for Spitfire photos - why couldn't the "artist" do the same. The Spitfire is one of the most elegant of fighter planes. Not a Clunker as portrayed here.

The only bit that is correct are the wings. The fuselage is awful - not even close.

Is it April Fools Day?
The plane on the badge looks like it was designed by Skoda not Supermarine.

"the rules state each club must be certain of completing the season BEFORE they enter"
In the present financial crisis how can any business have such certainty? We have seen estimates that a sizable number of clubs are now on very shaky ground - and not just in the National League structure.

Kenny was on "South Today" a few days ago mentioning cuts to the budget so I'm betting that we've made an application to play in the Isle Of Wight League next season.

Personally I'm all in favour of anything that improves the chances of seeing football at the 'Lake next season.

I remember the last days of the old 3rd Division North/South in the 1950s. There was a massive discrepancy between the 2 leagues in favour of the South which saw a number of larger clubs at that level compared with the North. However go back 20 years are the exact opposite applied. Such inconsistencies settle themselves over time.
The real problem is I can see little in the proposal that would persuade the existing FL clubs to support it.
