Not sure whether to start this but just saw a spitfire flying over my house, beautiful, Googled a couple of things and came across a Logo from the “Silver Spitfire” that was doing a long journey not so long ago. There was a documentary on it aswell. The Logo is very interesting for those that had opinions on the new badge. Very similar, I can see that it is more accurate. Should stir up a hornets nest. I can’t work out how to put a pic of it on here though but trust me, if you can find it, take a looks

The cockpit is NOT in the centre of the wings on a Spitfire so why does the FAKE Eastleigh badge display it eh? It’s embarrassing to say that is a Spitfire on the badge, Kenny and Tom messed up our history with the Spitfire and the town’s proud association with it with a fake plane..PERIOD.

Was walking down the bridle path to get the papers and I heard the noise long before it came into sight this morning. Over 5 minutes of aerobatics over Hedge End - the most glorious of sounds. Couldn't believe my luck. That badge came into my mind too.

Make your our own mind up but I think all in all fans have got to like it with its small imperfections.

There are SIX imperfections you can notice between the real Spitfire and the FAKE. And they paid someone to design the badge!!! Personally if I owned the club I would have sacked Kenny and Tom for accepting this humiliating attempt to proudly show a Spitfire on the club badge. That badge makes a laughing stock of the plane that the town is rightly proud to have its share and place in history with. The Spitfire is an iconic plane that will live forever in the history of our country and it will also say forever that it first flew from EASTLEIGH airport in 1936. Because of that people will google Eastleigh from around the world to find where we are, and when they then discover we have a football club which has the nickname 'The Spitfires' from Eastleigh, we could have many many fans taking an interest in Eastleigh Football Club, so how sad then that they will see a badge that does not display anything like a Spitfire. That is the point I have been fighting to make, what an opportunity wasted to connect our club worldwide to something so iconic and loved around the world and we've turned it into a joke plane that is nothing like it. How utterly deplorable to not even bother to have it checked out properly before accepting the design, it is sheer arrogance and unprofessional. I won't be buying anything that connects that fake to EFC, I just couldn't do it I'm afraid.

There really has been a lot of effort to rip off and butcher someone else's work, to end up with an abortion of a design and destroy the beautiful sleek lines of the iconic plane. Black marks to all involved in this pathetic episode......

So you would sack Kenny and Tom would you? Hope you've never got anything slightly less than perfect. Not very supportive of the club.

Oh I'm not perfect, I have never claimed to be. I don't know how they can claim they consulted with many fans about the design when they didn't. In their own words "We liked the first design so much we decided to go with it" as it was to be a big surprise announcement about our new badge. So when you say I'm not very supportive of the club, why not ask why the supporters weren't involved in this project instead? Kenny and Tom did not want your thoughts and views, they know better than you do, you are not worth asking, such arrogance who don't even own the club. They've ripped an iconic plane to shreds and its nothing short of shameful. So yes, if I did own the club and they changed the badge without a wide consultation of the fan base and failed to have the design properly checked over before mass production of it on shirts, hats, cups, ect ect and then found it was a fake design I would sack them on the spot because it is a disaster all round, a terrible terrible PR stunt. Many will like it, they don't know the history, they don't really care about that, its a plane on the badge so they like it, but its not a SPITFIRE, never will be. Perhaps we should change our nickname because we have no right to proudly call ourselves The Spitfires if we can't get the right one on OUR badge. The club does not belong to Kenny and Tom but they sure as hell think it does doing this in secret behind the supporters back and messing it up big time.

As we all can see, the badge is not a Spitfire. Instead, it is an idea of numerous aeroplanes from WWII. It is awful. I emailed the club and was told basically, "tuff," Imagine wearing the shirt around the country: you can hear the coversation already; "Why does your kit have an aeroplane on the badge?" "Oh, because we are the Spitfires." "But that is not a Spitfire!"
How many times before you get fed up trying to explain the badge?

So, copious amounts of wordage by pedants have shown it's not a Spitfire. So what? It's what we have and few, other than those complaining will know the difference, or care. The words "You lost, get over it!" come to mind.

As Ive said before, I don't think this is ment to be a copy but you do recognise it as a spitfire. Looking at the logos attached you can identify them as a spitfire. I'm sure the club will make subtle changes to the badge over the next few years.

The logos are logos though goderz3, though the London badge one is superb and would fit well on a badge. The Eastleigh FC badge Spitfire image with its plan view detail suggests the expectation of accuracy. As you can see from your excellent side by side with the Silver Spitfire image, the plane on the Eastleigh badge is a real ugly duckling. It looks more like the result of a Year 6 school project than the badge of a professional football club. Hopefully you are right in being sure the club will make changes but they need to be better than subtle changes.

Oh dear Martin, you actually think the complaints about the Spitfire badge is a question of winning and losing, that the purists lost and they should get over it!!!! And there are people who really do care about the image the club is sending out about itself which is to be a laughing stock because our badge is completely wrong, the ones that don't care are the ones who choose it in their wisdom as knowing more than the fans about the image we most definitely do care about, OUR BADGE. We know you don't care much because you make the comment "who cares". Its not a Spitfire, how about changing the name to the German Fokker plane eh? What a nickname that would be for us eh, "We are the fokkers and we don't care about our badge on the shirt" Well we certainly have made a fokker of the plane haven't we. If Kenny and Tom care about the image of Eastleigh Football Club, if they want us to be known as 'The Spitfires' then they need to do justice to The Spitfire on the club badge and make it right, but they won't because they are too arrogant to admit they got it wrong. It is not about winning Martin, it is about the history of the town and its connection to The Spitfire, we've taken it as our nickname as part of that connection. Many of us have the passion for that iconic plane, it won us The Battle of Britain, and our club shames itself with a joke image of the plane on our badge. It is pathetic. If they had got the fans involved this farce would have been avoided, but no, in secret they set it all up, and messed up big time. SD would never have dared do something without consulting a broad base of fans, he would have valued in particular the older generation of our supporters who know the plane better than the kids, most of whom love the new badge because they don't know the history or understand it very well. SD would then have made sure the image on the badge reflected well on the club with a true showing of the iconic plane which people in Eastleigh are proud to be associated with, that is OUR history which gives Eastleigh worldwide status. It comes down to this, if you want to be proud to be known as The Spitfires, get the image of the plane correct on your badge, otherwise don't bother. Believe you me, this might just be a small ripple in the water at the moment, but this story and balls up will go national at some stage in the new season and there will be a backlash from those who love the iconic plane passionately. Laurel and Hardy would have done a better job!!

Good, cos you don’t care anyway....your own words Martin, and I respect your right to have it..those of us who are purists will continue the battle to make our club give The Spitfire the accolade it deserves on OUR badge.
