Can not someone (perhaps from the supporters club) broker a meeting between the management and those who feel so strongly on this issue. Perhaps a chance to put down exactly why this was chosen/why it is wrong and if there will be a future review. I fully appreciate that no change will be made quickly with all the publication/production that has now taken place but it seems this will just fester on unless there is at least some meaningfull/off your chest discussions.

They didn't want the supporters opinion on the matter when they started it, why should they now? The PR of the club since Kenny and Tom have been at the helm is nothing short of absolutely shocking. The damage to the image of the club about the Spitfire design is massive, they've thrashed our club. I feel very strongly about this, I'm not afraid to speak out strongly, as a matter of fact the other week I was discussing the badge with another fan and my anger is such that I jabbed my finger so hard on the top left of my chest that I had a nice purple/yellow bruise come up for a week because its not a Spitfire on the badge. That's the passion, the feeling for this history of the Spitfire and our club connection to it and they've turned it into a joke plane on the badge. It's horrendous, I looked at it in absolute disbelief, what have they done to that beautiful iconic plane, how dare they rip it apart from all its glory and put that shambles on the badge and call ourselves the Spitfires, how bloody dare they.

I'll save myself £40 this year because of the badge. Won't be buying the shirt.

Keith I respect your opinion and agree that fans should have been consulted but I don’t think either the majority of our fans and certainly fans from other clubs in our league would think of us as a laughing stock because of this representation on our badge. I note that the person who chose the name Spitfires is ok with the badge. Although Kenny and Tom may have made an error to some fans on this matter I think they have shown good management in difficult circumstances and the structure of the club with players and coaching staff has continued in the right direction.

Steve, I'm sure Mike would have a different opinion if he saw how badly the plane is compared to a proper Spitfire, but lets give him great credit for the suggestion to having the nickname The Spitfires because it fits perfectly with us being Eastleigh Football Club. The other clubs in the league won't laugh Steve, but their fans probably will because its nothing like what is it supposed to represent, it can be used to wind up Eastleigh fans and that's not good at all. As to Kenny and Tom may have made an error to some fans....it is more than some fans Steve, quite a lot actually, they are upset and most prefer to say in the background not wanting to rock the boat shall we say. I understand that point of view, and I respect it. But some, like me, will voice our disapproval and however long it takes this must be rectified. What would be the worse case scenario in your opinion Steve? A game where rival fans taunt Eastleigh fans about the badge, the beer has flowed, a fight occurs and somebody gets seriously hurt. That's how big an error Kenny and Tom have made and none of us would ever want to see such a scenario happen, that's why I say it is a serious mistake as well as destroying the history of the plane we have for our nickname. I accept Kenny and Tom have done a lot of good work, I am not questioning that at all, but its all been undone with this badge and I think their silence on the matter shows they realise a mistake has been made but will not admit to it.

Keith I don’t know when or if K and T will consider any change but surely by pointing it out on this platform or any other social media will only bring it to the attention of other fans and aggravate the situation and cause the possible taunting by them. I believe it’s likely that, at least for a while, away fans won’t be allowed so hopefully this doesn’t happen. Have you contacted K or T on this matter?

I contacted Tom. I was told that a great deal of effort was put into the design. I was informed most fans liked it. So it was going to stay.

According to the club website, the Chorley vs Eastleigh score was 2-1 which in my book means Chorley won. I wonder if that's about as correct as what you've been told when you contacted club Director you mention. Apart from the last bit about it staying anyway.

WOW Steve, wow...If there was a serious incident you would blame me for putting it out there on a social platform!!! No blame attached to the clowns who changed the badge and made a mockery of it? Don't you see their sheer arrogance? "Most fans liked it, so it was going to stay" Most fans is the kids, with no understanding about the plane or its design. Most fans were not consulted, yet they claimed they were. They accepted the first design with no knowledge of what the Spitfire looks like, they asked no one. They talk about a great deal of effort went into the design, but no effort was clearly made to check it for errors, there is SIX that I can see and I don't claim to be an expert. To be honest in the mood I feel about it, I would not want to speak to Kenny or Tom because my eyes burn with anger thinking about what they've done in their arrogance, they had no right to change that badge without asking the fans. They don't own the club do they, what gave them the right to change it, buffoons the pair of them.

I wouldn’t blame you Keith only those who committed the possible serious’ incident as a result of the badge representation. But bringing it to the attention of others wouldn’t help.

My own view is that the current directors have done a good job in keeping the club sustainable at National League level. Twitter is updated regularly with a lot of good photographs that a lot of people like, although I would prefer it if looking for official announcements that I did not have to scroll down through several pages of photographs.
My initial thoughts were on hearing the announcement was that it was something I could take or leave and would go with the flow and support the club.. However on looking at it more detail it became apparent that it was seen as a very significant chapter in the club's history with one director saying he was proud to be part of it. It then became clear when it was announced on here that for what was seen as a significant chapter in the club's history that a lot of people were unaware it was being planned at all. Five people expressed clear views that it was unrepresentative of a true Spitfire and I would be very surprised if they are alone. I did in fact speak to someone whom I have seen at Eastleigh home games over a number of years who did not know anything about the new logo.
As for the Spitfire itself I fully recognise that it first flew from Eastleigh in 1936, and is an iconic plane that helped win the Battle of Britain, but I am no aviation expert and do not know whether it is representative of a Spitfire or how much of the overall activity of the Spitfire happened within the Eastleigh Borough boundaries. Therefore when I refer to historic events in Eastleigh I am more inclined to focus on the fact that Benny Hill's song Ernie which topped the charts at Christmas 1971 was based on his milk round at Market Street, Eastleigh and the fact that Tommy Green a resident of Eastleigh won an Olympic Gold Medal in 1932 and at the age of 38 was amongst the oldest to win Olympic gold at his event.
With the new logo likely to be on most forms of merchandise are going to reminded of its' existence and I am certainly sympathetic towards that.
While thinking that generally the current directors have done a good job the two aspects which I think they have done less well is utilising every communication channel and obtaining a knowledge of the club's heritage and I think that this issue has reminded me that the case.
