By now in normal circumstances, the club would have announced who is retained and who is leaving, with RH and AH making offers of contracts to players we seek to sign. I suppose nothing in these respects can be dealt with until the new owner is known and such decisions are made. SD has announced a sale and it needs to be cleared...by whom? The FA or The National League? I never quite get this 'must be a fit and proper person' regulation. Hartlepool have just been taken over by a bloke who wrecked Darlington, yet he has been cleared as a fit and proper person to partner Jeff Stelling in a buy out of Hartlepool. How did Salisbury manage to have the wool pulled over their eyes with that dodgy owner who said he was a prince!!!!
SD wishes the new owner to agree with a three year policy on low season tickets and admission prices, cheap away coach travel and have this legally signed in the sale of EFC. Will the new owner want a DoF? Would he wish to have AH as manager? Until that is resolved you can understand why our DoF and Manager are in limbo about what to do with the current squad and trying to get new players.
The budget is already in place for next season, but we seem to be just waiting for the new owner to come in and say "Carry on with what you planned" or something else is suggested instead. The name of the new owner can't come quick enough for me, so that the club can start moving again, May/June is the most vital months of the year and being in limbo is not where we want to be during it.
SD hopes to be confirmed at Sunderland this week, can Eastleigh have their new owner confirmed as well please. One last thought, I can see Sam Matthews going to Sunderland.

I can see Sam Matthews going to Sunderland Good place to wreck a career. You might as well say that about Stewart Donald then too Michael if that's your opinion.

Could be true for SD too. Its a huge gamble. I can think of many places better than Sunderland for Sam to build his career. One bad game for them and it could be his only game.

Shocking, the club is cleary a shambles and don’t know what they are doing. Not sorting out players contracts for next season.... oh wait a minute!
Maybe they do have a plan, who’d have thought it. Must be a real struggle for some not being in the know.

If you were interested in taking over a football club, would you be happy to accept these type of conditions set by the previous owner? I believe that the new owner will be well known to us, but I agree totally with the opening post.

The rumour mill in the pro game is usually pretty much on the ball.

The rumour mill in the pro game is usually pretty much on the ball. There’s certainly a lot of digging going on. I sure hope there’s no skeletons lurking.

Daft article. The headline seems totally divorced totally from what Lee Towey has actually said, its not exactly "scathing online criticism".
If I was a Sunderland fan I'd be a bit apprehensive given SD has not operated above NL level and there have been some costly mistakes in the last 2 years (by Stewart's own admission). I'd also be a keen to know more details of the consortium.
But I'm not a Sunderland fan so I'm only really concerned how this affects Eastleigh FC.
Hope Stewart doesn't get undue hassle/abuse/trolling etc, but there is always a risk of that when you put yourself in the public eye.

So we have an announcement - of sorts:
'Eastleigh Football Club can confirm that owner and majority shareholder Stewart Donald has agreed to sell the club to the existing board members, along with a number of senior management staff currently working for the club.
The club has been in discussion with the National League regarding the change of ownership, and we are now awaiting confirmation of their approval before matters can be concluded'.

So basically EFC have a season left to realistically get promotion, but with a lot of players who failed this season. Bad deal, don’t think SD has done the club a favour here, in fact his motive could be to ensure if things go pear shaped in 2/3 years at Sunderland he can buy EFC back from his mates. Can’t see further progress made on the stadium either, financially out of the new owners league and if sponsorships drop off in 1 year from now, the budget will nosedive, then National South beckons..that’s the reality check. I had hoped SD would sell to Juan Sartorial if he was not part of the Sunderland bid. He tried to buy Oxford Utd last year and wanted to take them to the premier league, he is reportedly trying to buy a club and build it up.

Who are "the existing board members" ? I assume it's the presently listed Directors on the Club website - Directors: Mick Geddes, Peter Vickery, Mick Budny, Alan Harding, Allen Prebble, Mark Jewell, Neil Fox. "..along with a number of senior management staff at the club" ?
