I get that point Michael, but we didn't and despite all the moaning and groaning we've done, the fans are renewing which is great. when success comes, and it will, our gates will increase to another level. I know a lot of people who have not taken in a game yet, but each week they look for our result, look at the league table, they know who is top and bottom....they are getting interested, the next step is to take in a game and I reckon most of them will if we have a successful season, its a natural progression of interest and then the bug bites...happens all the time :-)

Sounds as though it could be terracing with seats above so I think that would be a great idea and a good noisy area. If echo says 800 places inc standing and seats then obviously they get everything spot on don't they!!!!!!!!!! 500 extra seats were needed so if 800 spaces are available then it would fit that there is standing, am sure a Mock up of it will be shown asap. With all this new space we must make sure it's filled or as busy as possible or it will be just more quiet areas . I think it will be a quite intimidating ground when all done. Once the terracing and roof are done at the new end then am assuming spitfire grill , programme sellers etc will be moved to the other side of the now extended blue stand to balance that side out so there shouldn't be much gaps all down that side. Also maybe it's just me but I love the terrace side (east) as home and away you can make use of the ecoustics and it has charm of a proper footy ground for those who grew up on the terraces. The plans for possible replacement, hotel etc will be years down the live and amazing if come off but I think first game if the season it will be a great great place to watch a match. Is the stand extension likely to be built during the next season?

What I still can't understand is why. A lifelong long oxford fan, can't buy them tips up and buys Eastleigh. Great for Eastleigh but I just can't get it. You can change your wife, you can never change your football team.
That is what someone said about Stewart Donald

Work should begin on extension asap so it's ready for next season. New roof on clubhouse end and the whole car park getting resurfaced aswell so lots to do. There was talk of changing the green seats and replacing with blue, new catering underneath that stand also, been a bit quiet on that front so we will see, the floodlights need upgrading aswell so if all that is done then it will be a cracking ground.

Superb news also that we have also broken 1,000 in season ticket sales. Just imagine if we'd had a really good season... Yes, only 1 manager, 3 'keepers and players that would have played at least more than one game together and knew each others names..........;-)

I'm a life long Man United fanatic 50+ years and counting but the premier league has killed it for me to support it. Slightly different for SD in that he wanted to help Oxford United and the declined his financial support. Their loss, Eastleigh's gain....can honestly say both of us are now passionately Eastleigh fans....though he has the financial clout...he is at the end of the day another fan who found another love...we are lucky he choose Eastleigh. 😁😁😍

Most chairman are not lifelong fans of the club they chair. However Stewart has been here over 5 years and I am certain he would call himself an Eastleigh fan nowadays!
As for what drew him to Eastleigh FC back in 2011 (as a non-Eastleigh fan), well its the fans forum on Thursday, so why not come along and ask him yourself?

That quote about SD must have been taken from the OUFC forum. Sounds like sour grapes to me. The writer has probably lived in the same town (Oxford?) all his /her life & has little option as to which team to follow (maybe Ox City). I would suggest something like 80% of Eastleigh FC fans supported other clubs in the past, but have been converted to be Spitfires.

I would say that # was probably closer to 90% having converted from other clubs. I know most four older fans certainly did. I know of several ex-Saints, Chelsea, Man Utd, & Sheff Utd fans amongst our ranks. We all have different reasons for changing our allegiance, but what matters is we are all Spitfires now.

I agree that most Eastleigh fans will have supported another club (mainly Saints) but I also would say many continue to do so. I am sure many Eastleigh supporters would consider themselves Saints fans first. Many still wear Saints colours at our games. If this is to change a generation of Eastleigh youngsters must be encouraged to have their first football experience at the Silverlake not at St Marys. It's baptism not conversion that is needed.

Not a case of changing colours or teams, I support saints as have done as a small child going Back over 30 years, it's more a case of also supporting Spitfires. I think that is fair to say amongst a lot of newer fans, the problem is the amount of money it costs now and the influx of foreigners in the leagues , i for one love being able to watch a good (well sometimes) old fashioned match for a decent price, in a now decent ground, I can leave my home around 40mins from kick off and still park and if I wish grab a pint all before kick off. It's a friendly environment and my kids love a day at the silverlake. Value for money is excellent. Nothing wrong with with adding a second local team for me to support. Just a shame the kit colour is blue 😱, I can just about live with that though 👍

Talking of kit I was suprised to see the kit not discounted at the end of the season. Does anyone know anything about next year's shirt? Will it still be made by Macron?

I can put that to one side though, even though the shirt I purchased was of course the away white version

I'm rarely seen nowadays in a Man United shirt....generally I wear either the blue or white football shirt, and I also have two white tee shirts with the club creast. I've got a signed Eastleigh shirt framed on the bedroom wall from the 2010/11 squad plus Bairdy, and a model spitfire on the bookshelf. I'm a massive convert, Eastleigh is my home town team, I was born in Eastleigh, and its a pretty special feeling to support them because it REALLY is your team :-)
