It’s a fallacy that all German top flight grounds have safe standing rail seats. The majority I’ve been to have normal terracing areas that can also be converted to seats if necessary.

as I understand the new proposed grandstand to replace the east terrace would include lots under the new stand, retail/food outlets etc etc and would also tie in with having vehicle access to the motorway. It was also increase the capacity of the ground from around 5500 to 7500.
I guess you could argue the increase in capacity would be the least significant bit, I think the new facility and finances it could generate would be fantastic.
A lot has been said before about "sustainability" - IMO our new bar/office space behind the goal helps cement us as long term at conference level. This new grandstand could well help cement us long term as a football league side.
I believe there are other plans afoot re terracing areas at the ground, I know the club are keen to keep a significant amount of terracing at the silverlake (as a large number of us fans want).
Must admit I am not a fan of "safe standing".

Re our ground as League 1 standard, not sure our ground compares too favourably to the vast majority of the above (and that's not to knock the improvements made to the ground in the slightest)

In SD's most recent interview with Ian Wilding, he said that the plan is to turn the mackoy stand into a terrace with facilities underneath.

Sorry bomber but I already struggle with the regular references to "the shed end". If part of the ground ever became known as "the kop" end I'm afraid I wouldn't set foot in the place again.

In SD's most recent interview with Ian Wilding, he said that the plan is to turn the mackoy stand into a terrace with facilities underneath. The plans to increase the capacity seem to be stalled until the issue of a second entrance/exit at the ground is sorted. We seem to have been talking about this for a couple of years to my knowledge so I guess its proving problematic (perhaps due to proximity of the M27 junction).

After the best part of 120 years perhaps football should drop the reference to one of Britain's less than finest hours.

Careful Taylov you'll have people pulling down statues next. Not sure it will be steep enough for a kop anyway perhaps we can call it the Gentle Slope End or perhaps the Milk Float End after Mr Hill (Benny of course)

If it is steep enough, don't call it the North Bank or else I won't be coming either ;-)

The rake of future terracing there needs to be steeper, I think. Being at the back of the Mackoy atm puts fans too far away from the pitch.
Why would anyone refer to it as the North Bank when it's on the south side of the ground? Motorway end, Hardmoor end, Mackoy end, whatever. Let's have something original even if it's a company sponsor name rather than copying others.

Quotes from interview:
On improvements to their ground, Donald added: "The next stage I think is to finish the stand down the side and see if we can come all the way along with it and then fill the corners in on those two sides whilst then potentially changing the green stand.
"At the moment, we're just deciding but we may well change that to a permanent terrace with bars underneath so that the noisy element of the fanbase can go there and make some real acoustics and have all the facilities they've got in the club house under there.
"The plans will go in for that in the coming weeks with a view that we will try and have that done for the start of next season but the way we go we'll aim for start of next season but it will be half way through I imagine!"
