Some clearly aren't though are they. There are a few people at Eastleigh who walk about with an "I can't be arsed to watch an away game so I thought I'd come down here" shirt on. We're not a non league subsidiary of saints! i don't think it's that at all bomber, I think it's more a case of just loving to watch a game and also the expense of not only going away but also at home nowadays. Genuine fans of the game are very impressed at how EFC's profile had been raised and the improvements off the field. Sadly not every 'joint Eastleigh+Saints' fan comes at this from the same perspective that you do. You'll find there are plenty that fit the profile Bomber describes, and they are the problem that requires attention. It would be nice if we could just close down debates we don't like by saying 'I think this, so does everyone else, end of discussion', but it's not that simple.

The key thing is that we are all Eastleigh fans! Some clearly aren't though are they. There are a few people at Eastleigh who walk about with an "I can't be arsed to watch an away game so I thought I'd come down here" shirt on. We're not a non league subsidiary of saints! I really hope the Safety Advisory Group don't kick off their meetings with 'OK everyone, the key thing is that we're all Eastleigh fans!'

Well no tony. I'm sure when match day arrangements @ the Silverlake are being organised they the crowd will be considered to consist of 2 elements, namely home fans & away fans.
Anyway people have and will always have different opinions on this, that was my main point.

I have been a Saints sth for 10 years--and followed them to every away game. Whilst sitting at Arsenal this year I just thought 'what the hell am I doing here'. I simply stopped enjoying it. The league is dominated with money and fans are not taken into consideration. So I bought an eastleigh season ticket because I still wanted to watch a decent game of football- but wanted my money to go to someone who appreciated it. My decision was very influenced my Mr Donald and his investment and passion. I have been to every eastleigh game since-home and away and it has given me back my passion- and during that time have not used my saints ST and now let it lapse. My grandson and I have renewed our STs for eastleigh and joined the Spitfires Supporters Club. i will still be interested in saints and wish them well-- but I would never ever disrespect Eastleigh by wearing any SFC clothing. Frankly I have never understood the hatred some 'fans' have for other clubs. the majority of fans are just interested in their Clubs progress. I have no issue whatsoever with fans of any Club--even Pompey fans who have stuck with their club through really hard times. this season was a good season for me to come here as its not been the best. So I'm looking forward to seeing the Cub and team progress and I want to b part of that. So thankyou Mr Donald. ps anybody want to buy any second hand Saints shirts!!!! i totally understand what you are saying, I sometimes wondered why I was there and thought this isn't value for money, next season as for the last 3 years I will be at many more spitfires games than saints.

Anyway people have and will always have different opinions on this, that was my main point. I'm equally sure of the exact opposite, but we all have different opinions! I'd expect them to take a more holistic view on attendees and not see them in such simple, discreet terms. Especially given the unique circumstances that have been discussed on this thread.

B. In fact I'd go further and deny entry to anyone who wears a Saints shirt to an Eastleigh v Pompey game. You talk about the risk of a blue smoke flare getting let off, the sight of a saints shirt to certain quarters of pompeys support will more than likely cause a hell of a lot more hassle. Do Eastleigh football club pay to police this game properly? Will the police provide an escort for pompeys support from the station to the ground? Will there be enough police and segregation in the ground? This fixture could potentially cost Eastleigh fc a small fortune and waving a red a white rag to the bull....is it ever worth it? Perhaps the richer Southampton FC would like to fund the additional security/policing that may need to be put in place? It's great to have fans from other clubs and both Portsmouth and Southampton appear to like us. However, no matter all the assurances, this is like deer to a stalker for some Southampton fans who will, alongside the Portsmouth fans (who no doubt anticipate their arrival) create trouble in a game where EASTLEIGH FC are playing Portsmouth FC (no mention of Southampton FC). Why should we have to deal with and finance this??

or with all the worries shown on this forum they could just cancel it!!! And no doubt that will always be in mind if intelligence suggests there will be issues. They could play behind closed doors, play at Pompey with eastleigh tkts going to STH's only. Theres plenty of options. At end of day its a friendly and means nothing. pompey or soton fans at any time can buy tkts for the others games and only declare their following inside the ground---but they don't.this is no different

As u say it's a pre season friendly , there hasn't been trouble before so the less time spent worrying the better. The stewards and I wd imagine a few police will be in attendance and I would have thought the usual segregation will apply.

Any particular reason for this?

Me?? No not at all, how is that so? I just thk the club will have it covered , when we played Bolton in the cup the year before last we would have faced Leeds at home, am sure measures were in place had we got through, lots at stake that day! This is JUST a friendly, a lot people will be on holiday, doing other things, it's not as if there are 10000 coming from down the road. If u want to debate it more then carry on, I have said what I believe, mountain out of molehill springs to mind here.

I don't think Bolton was classed as a particularly high risk safety issue match (and they were great fans when we went up for the replay)

I was meaning Leeds would have probably been a higher risk game. They did have a bit of a reputation.

I think there certainly could be a problem. We have some lovely facilities and it only takes a couple of nutters, to majorly spoil things. Personally I would not have organised this friendly.
