B. In fact I'd go further and deny entry to anyone who wears a Saints shirt to an Eastleigh v Pompey game. You talk about the risk of a blue smoke flare getting let off, the sight of a saints shirt to certain quarters of pompeys support will more than likely cause a hell of a lot more hassle. Do Eastleigh football club pay to police this game properly? Will the police provide an escort for pompeys support from the station to the ground? Will there be enough police and segregation in the ground?
This fixture could potentially cost Eastleigh fc a small fortune and waving a red a white rag to the bull....is it ever worth it?

Ha, here we go again squabbling๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ I think there are some who take things to the extreme, i.e. Will go anywhere to give abuse to their local rivals no matter what team that may be in whatever part of the country as every team has a local rival and on the other hand you have those who live a life of making a point of not going out of their little town, never shop any where else, never visit out of curiosity the facilities at a bigger ground, regard that team as a rival rather than keeping his or her eye on the score and maybe actually wanting a good result for them. Each to their own I guess , it's not the way I do things but as I say there's nothing as queer as folk! Onwards and upwards.

I don't think we are squabbling I try to liven up the debate with a good sense of humour thrown in now and again but you are spot on fairoak there is nothing more queer than supporting that team down the road ๐

And I shop in Winchester and Basingstoke. Its a terrible place, possibly the worse city in the UK actually for shopping....as for sight seeing, that's a laugh.

I really doubt there will be any sort of big police/stewarding issue for the Pompey game. Am sure the club have thought about this and have spoken/will speak with the Safety advisory group as appropriate. Lets give the club a bit of a credit here, They wouldn't gone for this fixture if they thought things could get out of hand, its only a pre season friendly after all.
Re Saints
1) Some Eastleigh fans follow them and wish them well 2) Some Eastleigh fans are totally indifferent to them 3) Some Eastleigh fans dislike like
Each of the 3 groups have always significantly represented amongst the Eastleigh fanbase and I think they always will be.
As others have said above, does it really matter? The key thing is that we are all Eastleigh fans!

The key thing is that we are all Eastleigh fans! Some clearly aren't though are they. There are a few people at Eastleigh who walk about with an "I can't be arsed to watch an away game so I thought I'd come down here" shirt on. We're not a non league subsidiary of saints!

I agree that,on this occasion only, saints shirts should not be worn only because of the possible repercussions. I know many saints supporters and I live in Southampton so wish them well. Eastleigh is my team know although I am still upset that Fulham my childhood team which I watched weekly missed out on going to Wembley.

Genuine fans of the game are very impressed at how EFC's profile had been raised and the improvements off the field. Don't knock everyone for wanting to come to games as and when, it's all revenue. Nothing wrong with supporting local teams. I know it winds yourself and others up re the odd saints top, I can see your point, am sure as time goes by it will lessen, at least it's a local team though, I can't abide it when you see the Man U Chelsea etc tops

I have been a Saints sth for 10 years--and followed them to every away game. Whilst sitting at Arsenal this year I just thought 'what the hell am I doing here'. I simply stopped enjoying it. The league is dominated with money and fans are not taken into consideration. So I bought an eastleigh season ticket because I still wanted to watch a decent game of football- but wanted my money to go to someone who appreciated it. My decision was very influenced my Mr Donald and his investment and passion. I have been to every eastleigh game since-home and away and it has given me back my passion- and during that time have not used my saints ST and now let it lapse. My grandson and I have renewed our STs for eastleigh and joined the Spitfires Supporters Club. i will still be interested in saints and wish them well-- but I would never ever disrespect Eastleigh by wearing any SFC clothing. Frankly I have never understood the hatred some 'fans' have for other clubs. the majority of fans are just interested in their Clubs progress. I have no issue whatsoever with fans of any Club--even Pompey fans who have stuck with their club through really hard times. this season was a good season for me to come here as its not been the best. So I'm looking forward to seeing the Cub and team progress and I want to b part of that. So thankyou Mr Donald. ps anybody want to buy any second hand Saints shirts!!!!
