Pompey John is a real character who no doubt will get a very good welcome from Eastleigh fans, He's an absolute pest and attention seeking crank. That's a bit harsh. John Westwood has his own antique book shop and a royal warrant for picture framing which suggests he is an intelligent man. He just happens to be a Pompey fanatic who through his passion has earned world wide fame for it. He's not a pest, nor attention seeking...a bit over the top in how he dresses but what a loyal supporter he has been to Pompey. He reminds me of the old England mascot from Bournemouth, Ken Bailey with his union jack waistcoat red jacket and top hat. :-)

John Westwood has always struck me as a reasonable chap who happens to be somewhat eccentric in his support for Pompey. Let's face it, we need more eccentrics in this world. People who do things outside the norm, inspire others to be a little more adventurous etc. And I'm not talking just about eccentric football fans. We need them in all walks of life (except Boris Johnson).

Wonder what crowd we will get for the Pompey game, 2000 maybe 2500 at a push?

Ken Bailey I remember him covering up Erica Row when she ran on the pitch topless

We have played Portsmouth in friendlies when we have had far more players with Southampton links than we do and these have passed without incident and we are better equipped to handle games than ever before. we are more established now and do have a lot more saints fans turn up that go to saints games just come to Eastleigh when saints are away. Saints are now unlikely to play at home now in fact there likely to be abroad. So will attract more. Pompey will travel in numbers no matter where they play but this will be a bigger incentive! Remember when 1 pompey fan turned up giving it biggen in the shed end couple seasons back shouting pompey songs but suddenly shut up when he realised he was out numbered by the "kind" words he got back! They certainly know saints fans turn up here more now. Easy 3,000+ in attendance IMO

I can fully understand that people would very much prefer people in the Eastleigh end of the ground to wear Eastleigh shirts and not of those of other teams, but I personally do not like it if it as seen as a lack of respect when they do not.
I am an enormous respecter of footballing heritage and Eastleigh (formerly known as Swaythling) played Within the Southampton City boundaries for the first 11 years of their existence and even now the ground is nearer to several parts of Southampton than it is to the centre of Eastleigh.
Also the Eastleigh team that reached the Conference South with three successive promotions had players and coaches who had a log association with Southampton football club and I expected that people who witnessed those years will always be indebted to such people for their efforts with this club.
I am as I said earlier not a Southampton supporter, but I do believe in giving credit where credit is due.

And praise the lord we do not play our football in there boundaries any more but not many clubs have there grounds in the Center of town any more I did have a vote many years ago when that rancid club wanted to put there ground near us thanks to people like me they have ****marys now 😂and to be fair the only thing they share with us now are their stewards so the past is the past be we look to the future and all that is EFC

As someone how has lived in Eastleigh his whole life but has also followed Saints all that time, what makes you use the terms RANCID and ****marys. Just interested as I've never encountered any such dislike or ill feeling before or since I've had a season ticket for the last 4 years. Just interested.

FFS children, this is now getting really stupid, at the end of the day football is football, yes, we all have rivalries, yes, a small minority take that to the extreme, but at the end of the day we are all unified by our love and passion for the game. So what if Eastleigh are within an SO Postcode, Bournemouth used to be. There will never be a comparison between Southampton and Eastleigh, let's just enjoy our football for what it is. How many "other teams" shirts do you see being worn in everyday life in Hampshire? Each person is entitled to support and wear their teams colours

Seriously? lets do a straw poll. how many Saints supporters think its:-
a) A great idea to wear Saints shirts to the Pompey friendly.
or
b) Something that would antagonise the visiting supporters and potentially cause a dangerous situation
