Club has made a further statement.... www.eastleighfc.com/2017/01/23/statement-regarding-away-travel/I have read most of this with much interest and I realise that my views are not the norm, nor are they correct - it is how I feel... I also sit in the blue main stand where I have two season tickets for my wife and I. We choose to sit here to have a good view of the game, but also to be away from the 'traditional' type support. Don't get me wrong, I like the singing and it is much needed to give support to the team, it's just not what we want to do. However what I do want to be away from is the bad language, bad behavior, and now as it seems further danger from Pyros. I openly admit that I have only attended a few away games, and only one of these was by the club supported coach, but I would now not attend an away game by coach, if there is a high chance that I will randomly end up in the same coach as, as some are describing 'over enthusiastic' youngsters, and I certainly would not want to tackle them over it for fear of making things worse. EFC of course want bigger and better things, and with that comes bigger crowds, but I for one, if faced with a choice of league football or a friendly family club would think long and hard over my decision, and before any moans why can't we have both, the general consensus from both sides of this argument are that you cannot, because this is the nature of football. I would also add that although not the same, no other sport suffers from or indeed would put up with this kind of behavior.

Women do not want to hear the 'c' word...it is offensive and more importantly if they are a family at the ground they do not want their children hearing it. Have you no sense of morals for the greater good? Serves women right for going to the football. If we don't watch out they'll be wanting to take charge of matches next...........................

Personally, I think the only way the club could deal with the coach travel is aside from having stewards on each coach, actually allocate seats and get the driver to show people where to sit, that way it wouldn't be a "free for all". Now, I know that sensible views and opinions are frowned upon by certain people, and if they feel that they could do a better job, then by all means, let them steward the coach.

Personally i believe if you misbehave on the coach. Chuck the ****ers off be it young/old. It would only happen once, I'm sure. Gotta say the 3 young lads sat with us on coach 2 on saturday were great.

The trouble with topics like this, is a whole load of stuff gets lumped together, which means we miss the key issue. The key issue is the pyro stuff. Its illegal, dangerous and for some people, like Dave, witnessing it can ruin their lives. If it continues it will lead to EFC being fined, and if it still continues at some point, we would be in danger of having sections of our ground closed. Now I don't for one minute think this will happen, but IT DOES HAVE TO STOP. No excuses, no arguments, it just has to stop.
When we move onto to wanting families at the ground, wanting to eradicate swearing etc, totally different issue. I don't particularly like hearing swearing, and when I come with my partner Chris (who dislikes swearing) I particularly don't want to hear it. However I have been attending football matches since 1965, they were swearing then, like they swear now, and I'll tell you what they will be swearing in 50 years time. Like it or not its part of a football crowd. As long as you are not swearing at me, or about me, I can deal with it. And sorry to say if families want to get involved in football, they will have to accept it is part of the game.
In 2017 should we really be getting so hung up about swearing? Mass starvation yes - child refugees dying yes - sexism, racism yes, yes. But swearing??

That's the problem with this thread Ian in general but I totally agree with you however not ALL the younger travelling fans are letting the side down BUT all will be viewed in the same negative way as the minority which is very sad and unfair. I was on the same coach as you on Saturday as you know and it was fine.

There will always be swearing at football and that's a fact, however swearing and just being obscene and knowing women and children are around is another thing, unfortunately it is not younger fans doing it, but people who should know better, but after reading some of the comments especially about women fans I feel maybe there are some very sad and out of touch fans following Eastleigh.

romseypete I completely agree with you. I am sure most of the anti women comments on this thread are supposed to be a joke, but a) they are not funny and b) this is not something to joke about.

Anti-women comments? 'Politically incorrect' comments maybe. I think some posters and the club have rather blown these incidents out of proportion. A very small minority of young fans behaved badly but they didn't start a riot! The club making public statements on their website is unnecessary. It only serves to draw negative attention to the incidents which in the long run may well discourage away support and demonise younger fans. It's a football club and fans letting off steam on Saturday is a feature of every club. Deal with it don't publicise it. The PR decisions at the club are just lousy at the moment. Season ticket sales to fall.

I think the statement about pyro was was necessary - I know things have been happening already on that (some behind the scenes) but the public statement was a good move I think. Hopefully this issue is now well on the way to being resolved.
"The club making public statements on their website is unnecessary."
Agree with you on the away travel statement, possibly not needed. I appreciate there has been an issue with people on the coaches - but would hope this is something that could be sorted "in house". I hope travel can be kept a reasonably affordable level for the rest of the season, even though personally I rarely use it I think its important and was pleased that TSSC were able to support the club/fans in its donation for the Brentford coaches.
Obviously the travel & pricing is up to the club and they will do what they see fit based on the various factors.
Anyway the statements are out, be nice to move on from this with some football (possibly not tomorrow night!)

You will drive the decent fans away, I am a season ticket holder with my son, I don't want to hear sexist or racist chants, just normal football banter (yes with the odd swear word) if you think it's game to say anything you like because it's a football match then you need a good look at yourself.

You haven't heard sexist or racist chanting at Eastleigh. I've been nearly every home game for 7 years and not ONCE have I heard what you claim. Some proper, proper drama queens on this forum. Pyro I'll give you that's dodgy, but swearing? People have been swearing at the football for 150 years!! Go and watch crown green bowling. Football isn't for you.

No sexist chanting Bomber? What game was it when the youngsters were very sexist towards the opposition trainer when having treated the player she walked back to the dugout behind 'our' goal last season? It wasn't just embarrassing, but downright disgusting. You reap what you sow....nip it in the bud otherwise the problems will get bigger. That was an away game though I am referring to.

I did say 'at Eastleigh'. What disgusting chants were aimed at this female trainer? We're all grown ups....
