Don't get me wrong, it was because of play fighting amongst themselves, and perhaps first call they just did not realise how inappropriate it was. But it is obviously unacceptable from a safety point of view and with no official help all the driver could do was shout out at the problem and threaten to stop. He then attempted to make clear the dangers to those responsible at the end as they got off. I was full of admiration for how he handled what was, but should never have been, a difficult journey.

As I said on another thread, smoke (& unexpected fireworks/explosions) are a trigger for my PTSD, so because the yoof have decided to break the law and the club are either unwilling or unable to stop them, I have had to make the decision that I can no longer attend first team matches of the club I love. Personally I hope that they are caught prosecuted & the full extent of the law as taylorv outlined is taken & their lives are totally f@@ ed up as they are trying to do to mine. Also if they are prosecuted my lawyer has told me that my legal claim for compensation against them should be successful. If there was an incident on the coach yesterday then the club will have those names & hopefully if the club don't have the balls to take it to the police then the coach company will

One day, someone might actually pay attention to what these idiots are doing and take them to task. Not only do they endanger life, but also threaten to tarnish the name of EFC. If you post something about their actions on the supporters club facebook page, you are met with a torrent of abuse and comments like "they're only having fun". Well, supporters are already stopping going to games because of their immature behaviour, it's time the club stood up to these idiots and sorted it out

You lot really want to listen to yourselves... Dave they are not trying to F*&^ up your life and Durkiboy they are not out to endanger life or tarnish the name of EFC, they are kids having fun, yes they will occasionally over step the mark and yes they need to be told when they do so, but goodness me to make out they are stopping people going to football beggars belief. Having a lawyer to help with your compensation claim well..... As the club grows it will attract idiots and they need to be dealt with but to make out a bunch of kids are worse then Hitler, Stalin and Thatcher put together is amazing have a look at the news there are plenty of things going on in the world that are worth your anger this ain't one of them.

You really are a prize plum. How old are you? Are you one of this bunch of clowns? If you really can't see the problems these kids are creating, then you really need to open your eyes and get into the real world. Playfighting on the coach, causing the driver to be distracted, items that burn so hot they can melt steel, what shall we do next, give them a bagful of coins to throw? After all, that's funny as well, isn't it?

I'm 48 Simon. Steel melts at 1300 degrees so there you go exaggerating again as the 2 smoke bombs we've seen were not quite that hot or even 10% of it. Young people mess around its part of growing up. They have not hurt anyone. Re the coins probably not a good plan to give them new ideas though. Smile life is too short

They may not be trying but they are, I'm off work on half pay because of the Brentford game, I cant go to watch the team I have been following probably since before some of them were born, as said above, I have PTSD & smoke is one of the triggers, so for me to deliberately put myself somewhere that smoke is going to be let off is stupid. Why shouldn't I be compensated, 2 weeks on half pay so far, a season ticket that is sitting doing nothing, neither of those are my doing. Those are both caused by children choosing to break the law. Why shouldn't I have a lawyer, she is a friend who I happened to be talking to or shouldn't I do that either. Whether or not they are out to endanger life, they are, & they are tarnishing the name of EFC whether that is their aim to or not. I have never compared the kids to any of the above or anyone else & have never said what they are doing is the worst thing in the world, just that it affects me. As long as they are having fun, upsetting one old git & Suttons fans isn't going to faze them, SD & the club aren't going to do anything because they are good for the club, they liven things up a bit

Most teenagers are ignorant, self centred, arrogant, social media obsessed pond life who contribute nothing but grief and hassle to society. They should be shot to cut the future welfare bill.

Sadly some people believe pretty much exactly that willk.
I think if you turn that "opinion" on its head and take the exact opposite of it, then that is broadly speaking where Stewart & the club are coming from in terms of building our fanbase and going forwards as a club at the heart of the Eastleigh community.

OK in principle but unless unacceptable behaviour by the idiot minority is stopped there is a real danger that it will damage these aims of increasing the fanbase and taking the club forward. Surely the aim should be to support a club where families are content to bring their kids and grandkids to games without fear.

The real problem are the over exaggerated comments made by people on here. I know you have all been to a game and if you really think it is acceptable that anyone stands there swearing at the referee, linesman, the opposition goalkeeper or supporters and that this is going to encourage families to bring their kids and grandkids you are in cloud-cuckoo land, but I wouldn't mind betting a large sum of money that you have all partaken in these activities and maybe worse and if you haven't partaken you have definitely witnessed it. Yet when some kids start enjoying themselves, on your patch, it's time they were outlawed, horse whipped or worse. Get over yourselves and see it for what it is, a growing club that is bringing in the young people of Eastleigh and trying to embrace them warts and all, what our club is doing by bringing these people on board is securing the future not scaring people away, change is scary but there is definitely room for everyone.

I can see both sides to this argument - by all means let supporters enjoy themselves, but they also need to be aware of other people, of their responsibility towards other people, and of safety in general. The lower standing area at Brentford was pretty crowded, and letting off a device there was utterly irresponsible. The people who participate in it are not massive in number, are in one small area of the ground, and should be easily identifiable, so in order to deal with them them we need some trained stewards and some cameras/CCTV. This applies to away games too. Those misbehaving on the coach - it should be easy to identify them. How we deal with them after that is another matter, but once they know that we know who they are, they should behave better once their responsibilities have been explained to them. And if they don't.... well, then we know who they are. It is up to the club/Stewart to decide whether what investment is necessary - the more fans we attract, and the higher the league we go into, the more this investment will be necessary anyway. Comments such as those from Sutton should be of concern - yes, both they and we have come from lower-league backgrounds, so are used to lack of segregation and general bonhomie, but I think our fans had a good reputation in the first couple of years in the NL, and we don't want it to suffer. I see the club website has posted something this morning reminding people of their responsibilities, although I think they should focus on general behaviour as well as pyros: www.eastleighfc.com/2017/01/23/eastleigh-football-club-statement-regarding-pyrosflaressmoke-bombs/
