Williams could do a job...as a squad player. We need two out and out goal scorers proven at this level. They will cost a bomb, but if we are aiming to actually win this league, it is going to cost a bomb...and then some.

it could pay off in the long run, but it would take big bucks. Please gamble responsibly.

No great surprises for me in the released players, I think you could argue 1 or 2 of the offered contracts/released players the other way round.
The players under contract for next season are just that, unless something happens they will be here next season. Paying players off to leave is rarely a good idea. If you look at someone like Ross Lafayette I see no reason why he can't have a fresh start next season & make an impact for us. We effectively swapped him for Tubbs about 3 months ago and that didn't work out so well. Maybe with Ross L here we'd have made the playoffs?!
Anyway, certainly looking forward to hearing about new signings. I think if we are to reach the promised land then we need quality and quantity this summer.

Bit gutted about Noice, 20 years ahead of him with a lot of great raw talent having come through via Saints and then with us for a year or two.
Let's hope it was him pushing for more game time / no.1 keeper role (Havant or Poole) as he was effectively a 'free' signing and now we will need to buy a another Poke who played half the games Noice did last season....

Having looked at the current squad and trying to pick my best XI I think the three positions we need quality are;
Centre Back - A rock, simple as that - somebody who can play alongside Turley.
Left Midfielder - Genuine winger, pace & flair
Striker - A BIG MAN! Tubbs/Constable, Constable/Yemi, Tubbs/Yemi didn't work - Midson/Yemi had a brief spell together which worked.
Reckon we need 7-8 signings.

I'm sure Kelvin Davies could do a job for us, and he would have a lot of contacts. We might be thinking of him as a goalkeeping coach perhaps. If so why not?

Kelvin Davis will be 40 in September. Not sure if he is 2nd choice are Saints, but his contract ends soon & one would think that it is unlikely to be extended. However, assuming he is still fully fit, I would have thought, if he wants to continue playing, at the right price it would be a no brained to sign him.
Posting this on my mobile & not fully au fait with copying and pasting, however I would recommend having a look at his Wikipedia page. He was sent off & banned for 3 games following an incident with a certain Jon Parkin in 2007!!! He'd probably get on well with Strevs.

He has not said he is retiring , he has said his testimonial will be his last game for saints .
