See Link www.eastleighfc.com/2016/05/09/retained-list-announced/Lee Cook, Josh Payne, Lewis Noice, Paul Reid, Kaid Mohamed, Jack Midson, Will Evans and Matt Fanimo have all been released and the club would like to thank each of them for their efforts and contributions whilst with us. It was very difficult to release quite a few of these players, some of whom have been with the club for a few years and have given us their total commitment whilst trying to help us progress. No surprises about some of them, gutted about Will Evans

Tough decisions i'm sure, but i am also gutted about Evans. I might have kept Josh Payne too, without knowing who might be coming in. Lafayette stays but Evans & Payne go, is just bizarre! (i know RL is already under contract for next season, but we didn't want him and sent him out on loan last year, so i cant see how he can be deemed good enough this year. Maybe too expensive to pay off, so could either go out on loan again or will sit on the bench with Yemi all season, which means stunting the growth of Tony Lee yet again.
Yemi, Lafayette, Constable on the bench next season, isn't going to scare the opposition much when we need a goal.
Looking forward to seeing who we are trying to bring in & i'm sure that will allow us to make more sense of the released list, because at least 5 of those we are keeping, will be considered "squad players", who will probably be used as substitutes.
Interesting that there was no word on the manager, although keeping Strevens as a coach, does point to Todd being given the nod (a new manager would likely bring in his own coaching team).

Agree with all the above list(s) except for Will Evans.

must be looking to bring in a 'quality' CB ( or move Joe inside ? ) - Will Evans does seem to play better with Turley next to him, so him leaving is a bit of a surprise

Looks like being 19 players which is small if injuries bite. 1 more goalie, defender and CH, two midfielders, and two strikers. The three strikers we have if Yemi stays are not going to make us a top 5 team let alone a title Challenging team unless the two incoming strikers are top notch.

I find it baffling that Yemi is being offered a new contract, I really like him but he is not a midfielder or winger to use as a utility player and hasn't scored more than 10 goals a season for at least 5+ seasons - how is that the strikerate of a striker who is going to push you towards promotion. Even more of a shock that we have to keep Lafayette who we loaned out because he's on a 2 year deal. So that would be Yemi, Lafayette and Constable already in the mix for next season - can't fathom this at all!

I think we need to organise a Will Evans must stay campaign.

I know Yemi doesn't score many goals but I think he was one of our best attackers last season (until the last few games). I would imagine he had a few assists. He offers pace next to our big target man, and, I think, linked up well with Beano (and we do have Beano next year).
Agree Will Evans was unlucky (if it wasn't his choice to go), he had a good season, and is capable of improving even further - I'm sure he'll find a decent club to go to. Apparently Woking fans said he was terrible in the game at Kingfield? Wasn't there so can't comment.
Some of the others unlucky too (Reid, Cook) - maybe trying to make the squad younger? Wonder how much Strevs will actually play, even though I think he and Drury are our best partnership in CM. Shame it didn't work here for Josh Payne, but I did say that throughout the season.
One or two lucky still to be here, only here due to being on contract, I reckon.
Goalkeeping position unclear, I agree. Posters were saying during the season having Noice was a luxury, since he hardly got to play (and we've no reserve team) so I'm not surprised that he's been released, but it's a shame.
EDIT** just seen SS's analysis - nice one, even if I don't necessarily agree with all the ratings (Jai, for example, I thought mostly had a poor season, and I think Harding was limited coming forward) but one question that arises is where should players like Coulson and Partington play, who are good in more than one position? I think Coulson has been best at RB so far and I see Partington best as a CB. Coulson has also done well as RM, though.
Looks like the policy of short-term loans during the season will be continued......
