Dossie will be taking at least 3 of our released players, make no mistake about that. If Will has turned down an offer from us, that would have been mentioned in the communication from the club. So he has defo been straight released.

I too was surprised to see Will's name on the list of those released. At just 24, he's among the youngest in our present squad. Maybe there's a personality issue, but I've seen little on the field to explain why he's being let go. I share the majority view - difficult to understand the decision.

Would of kept Evans & Payne. The others released not that surprised. Really don't get what the club see in Yemi. He would of been one of the first I would of released! Well now the retained/released list has been confirmed we can now wait in anticipation of the new signings........

I too am disappointed to see Will Evans go. His goal against??? the season before last where he picked that ball up in our half, beat 3 or 4 defenders and scored will live long in the memory & was probably goal of that season. Thanks for that and all your other efforts, Will. Indeed thanks to all the players being released for entertaining us during their stays at the club.

CT's lost the plot if this is the big changes, he's let go of fringe players except for Will Evans, and retained most who failed, so what will change then next season?

I am surprised to see will released, think he played well alongside Turley. Looking forward to see who we will be bringing in now.

CT's lost the plot if this is the big changes, he's let go of fringe players except for Will Evans, and retained most who failed, so what will change then next season? I take your point Keith, in that Toddy has gone on record to The Echo stating that "we mean business" in the transfer market, eluding to the fact that we were all expecting a larger released list than we have ended up with. Especially when most of those who have been released, were really just fringe players (with the exception of Evans & Payne). Suggesting that not many changes are afoot. However to be fair to Toddy, i think many on here are making the assumption that those being retained will be first team starters again next season, but i suspect that may not be the case. Toddy could bring in better players who will take those first team places from those who think they are safe and are going to start & those players could end up being our new benchwarmers/squad players. i.e. he could bring in better players than the likes of Jai, Strevens, Turley, Beano & Dury, who probably all are considered starters in most games, but it doesn't necessarily mean they will all be starters again next season & a few of these could well find themselves on the bench next season...? We could end up something like this:- Flitney Partington, New, New, Green Coulson, Dury, New, New New, New Bench: Reason, Turley, Beano, New, New Not even in the matchday squad: Yemi, Lafayette, Harding, Tony Lee & the rest of the youth. So only 5 of the existing squad making the first X1. With 6 of the new players slotting in ahead of some existing players,

Will Evans always gave 100% in the shirt and I thought he improved towards the end of the season. However, he does have a pitching wedge for a right foot and his distribution is simply not good enough. I hope he goes on and does well but for me this was absolutely the right move. If this club aspires to league football you need better and clearly the powers that be think so too.

So he has defo been straight released. Im not so sure, Because when Harry Pell was offered a contract last season he turned it down, and was mentioned as part of the players released last season. It was only when Hilly said he got another/better offer, it came out that he was offered a deal but turned it down if my memory is right. Otherwise i see it as a big loss letting Evans go

Trouble is we don't know the full circumstances which have led to the players being kept/released. For all we know Evans might have asked to leave for personal reasons. Think we need to take a step back and await further comment from those in the know, before we go jumping up and down. As for the managers position, we will know this when either CT or SD tell us something; no news means it hasn't been decided as far as I am concerned.

I don't think you'll get further comment from the club on the releases. The reasons behind players being released should remain private between the player at the club/manager/owner.
As for Harry Pell, what was communicated, masked the reason he left the football club. But there's no need to dwell on that. Tbf to the lad, he didn't do too badly at Cheltenham this season did he.
I'm certain Will Evans will join a club in this league and i'm also certain that he will end up in L2 within the next 2 seasons, where he will be the right age, and with the right coaching, can change his game so that he becomes more than a big lump who hits diagonal balls all day long.

Players wouldn't be offered new contracts if CT contract was up so same old!!
-Jai only turns up when he feels like it -I like Yemi but maybe only an impact player of the bench -Lafayette not good enough just sums it up when you send him to Aldershot. BUT would be the answer to the long ball game we persist with.
Just a few I would question.
Hopefully now he will sign replacements that are good enough, Coulson who has been the only one he has signed being any good and he maybe even tempted to a move to the FL alongside Partington.

Will Evans leaving is a mistake IMO. I cannot see us not offering him a deal to stay so I reckon it could be a deal to play higher. Only time will tell this so we will see. If it's the clubs choice to release him then it'll be an exciting summer of signings for us!
The rest of those released I totally agree with. If anyone heard Stewart Donald's interview on radio Solent this past week you'll know he wants to win the league next season. Can't have players in the team who don't offer enough week in week out.

If we are going to win the league next season, we need at least 5 top top players. I look forward to the signings!

Hmm Chris Eagles eh, i know his dad!! (he's a Hemel Hempstead lad).
SS - It's interesting that when you have gone for CB's you have selected 2 of your 3 from a higher level, but when you have picked your strikers, you have gone for 2/2 from this level. Personally, i would be going for higher level players in all positions. We need better, not equivalents to....
