To be fair, I thought we played pretty well tonight. For a game that only produced a goal in the last 5 mins, it was entertaining & end to end, with both sides intent on playing on the ground. Zebroski had an outstanding game and if we'd done better with the numerous crosses we put in goals might have come. Poor penalty from Macca, if that had gone in, a draw would have been a good result for us. Some good saves from Flitney probably won him the sponsors MOTM.

Ebbsfleet far better than us first half, kept in it by two decent Flitney saves. Much closer second half but we still don’t threaten enough. Handed a gilt edged chance for the penalty which was missed with one of the lamest penalty efforts I’ve seen by McCallum. Ebbsfleet nicked the win with a header from a corner with10 mins left. Another excellent effort put in by Zeb, Reda and Flits both had really good games. Another less than convincing performance by McCallum which was topped off by the appalling penalty, I seriously wonder if he’s the right striker to be going forward with next season.

As with most away teams at the Silverlake Ebbsfleet bossed the game and had the best chances. Pleased they won in a way and you could tell how much it meant to the players, management and directors. Can’t wait for 3pm Saturday afternoon when it’s all over and we can go and do something more worthwhile with our lives.

A lack of effort from start to finish from McCallum and a very poor penalty, if you're going to make that much fuss about taking it you've got to bury it. Also really unimpressed with his tantrum as he went off kicking the bag in the dugout. Definitely not the striker for next season for me. In contrast Zeb had another great game, very impressed with him at the moment.

Agree that Ebbsfleet were the better team in the first half but we defended and battled quite well. In the second half we had more of the play but we were too slow in the buildup, not for the first time this season. The marking for their goal was non-existent, there was one like that in the first half too. I think we deserved a draw, and would have got it but for McCallum's poor penalty. Ashmore used to have a reputation for saving penalties at H+W, he's a good keeper. I was quite impressed with Flits (some good saves) and the central defenders tonight, the front two (yes, McCallum too) worked hard, midfield were OK.
Ebbsfleet were quite good, they should be with a squad like that, but I didn't notice the two ex-Spitfires particularly - Coulson had a couple of early efforts. If they had to get a goal I was pleased it was so late in the game, any more than ten minutes of their timewasting and gamesmanship would have been hard to bear. I think they've got a fair chance of making the playoffs and will be dangerous opponents. And if they're still in the NL next season I would expect them to be challenging at the top. Good support from their fans tonight.

What clearly lacks with Eastleigh as a club is passion and hunger. When opposition teams score their management, subs, directors fans demonstrate how much it actually means to them. Ours just sit there inside the morgue/library known as the Silverlake. There are so many more teams much more deserving then Eastleigh of hitting the big time.

Over the 90 minutes Ebbsfleet deserved the win. I thought this was one of our better performances this season, but even so, for an hour we were distinctly second best and had we won it would have been on a par with the crazy victory we achieved against Dover. The goal summed up our season, an awful goal to concede, the guy completely unmarked, a very slow start from us, and we could easily have been 3 down in the first few minutes. I don't think the team lack hunger, they are just slow, unadventurous, and not a very good team. CZ was head and shoulders the best player on the pitch, and IMO head and shoulders our best player this season. In a good team he would be terrific. If we don't radically change things around this Summer, don't be surprised if he is gone come August.
A long Summer ahead, bloody glad its not my job to sort it.

Shame McCallum kicked the penalty as hard as he did the dugout last night. Thought we played quite well, again lacking pace, but said that all season. One to go let’s hope we can spoil the party Saturday
