Even allowing for the heat, that was dire

I can't work out why we took a striker off and replaced him with a centre back. I know Williamson was injured but we had like for like on the bench with zeb or even beano. Against 10 men we really should've been looking at being more attacking than that. For most of that second half looked like we had the 10 men.

Totally agree with the above comment. Fine to try going to 3 at the back but if we can't keep the ball what's the point? Fair play to Aldershot who even with 10 men seemed quicker to the ball and able to find a red shirt. At least we didn't lose.

Even allowing for the heat, that was dire Totally agree, dreadful spectacle, not helped by a string of injuries though. Its simply not good enough for a team supposedly aspiring for promotion to play for hour against 10 men at home to barely threaten. Aldershot looked more likely for the win. No ambition in the substitutions or formation. No pace, pattern or accuracy in any of the play. The heat is not an excuse. I don't want a change in manager or the farce we had last season but who really believes Richard Hill can get this team promoted? Mid table mediocrity beckons again.

Totally agree with the comments re the half time substitution - absolutely bizarre.
Thought the first half was OK, Shots passed it round nicely while we played our usual containing game, looking to catch them on the break. Red card looked about right from what I could see. Second half they again looked good, showed more ambition, and probably had the better chances (including the one that hit the post). All this with ten men! Zeb created two decent chances near the end; if he had been on for the whole of the second half, what might have happened (red card probably :-))?
A draw was not a terrible result, would have been nice to have tried to get more though, especially with a man advantage.
Shots support great as ever, I did hear ours at times too.

One dimensional tactics from RH who had no plan B. One of the worst games of football I have ever seen. So many errors in that game with constant long balls up to Macca. I really can't believe we were so negative against 10 men. Aldershot deserve the 3 points.

How Macca managed 90mins I don't know, HT you could see he was nackered. Strange tactical changes and certainly no pace in the team. We are so predictable and boring.

It almost seemed like we were trying to push greener and ayo on as wingbacks but the team just didn't look like it was comfortable playing this way with players being caught out of position on munitions times. As soon as we switched back to a 442ish when we brought Danny on we actually had our first shot of the whole half!

I think the half time tactical change was more obvious to see than some comments above. Going three CH and pushing on Ayo and Greener as wing backs was certainly a Plan B. The fact that the personal (not just those asked to play WB) were not up to the change made us even less effective than we were in the first half. We only created anything when we went back to 442 in the last 10 (plus 8). There is no doubt that Richard Hills views on attitude and commitment are spot on, as a number of last ditch flying blocks showed again, but I think the lack of enough flare to go with the heart makes us a fighting mid-table outfit rather than a challenging one.

Worrying repeated comments on the BBC Solent Sport commentary this afternoon regarding the role that the new pitch was playing in the injury count. Jill and I were unable to attend today so listened to the game on-line. This story is not going away after the problems pre-season and before the Dagenham game.

Quite simply terrible , not just this game. Their keeper didn't make a save! Aldershot were excellent in every way, players, skipper, bench, supporters! If the ref wasn't our 12th man we'd have been beaten by a far better team, in my opinion. The ground is looking good though ,!
