Not even 10 games in and it starts with the very negative comments.I did not expect a win given the effort the team ran themselves into the ground at Orient. We are a team coming of a bad season with a new team of players still getting use to each other. Defence is strong and midfield and front line will gel. Shots are no mugs and we're always going to be tough to beat and with 10 men even harder. For those expecting glamorous flowing football when not even 10 games in with are team still bonding then please save your comment to around xmas then you will have a valid comment. Supporting Eastleigh I have seen many a poor game but I will still come back because that called support. Richard Hill and back staff know what they need to do first see the players and adjust accordingly. They see what's going on most of us turn up watch the game and think we can run a football club. I hope the players if they read these threads take them with a pinch of salt. From what I have seen and given the circumstances they look good. I may jump on the slag off band wagon around xmas but until then I will 'Keep the faith'. Support the team and be constructive rather than destructive. I put up a similar comment earlier but maybe I did not post it properly. Hopefully I will get it right this time.

Aldershot were missing 3-4 regulars (including Will Evans). They were coming off the back of a morale-sapping defeat at home to Chester on Saturday. They were scarely in a worse situation than we were coming into the game. I thought they looked a very good team, in both halves.
There was rightly a lot of praise for our performance against Tranmere, and from the first seven games, to have only suffered one defeat must be looked on as a success.
But specifically on the game yesterday, I think a lot of the criticism was justified. At half time we were in a position where we should have at last made a better attempt to win the game, and it was not a good 55 minutes (with injury time) at the office. Whether it was the half-time substitution, or the inability of the players to carry out the manager's plan, I don't know. But it was disappointing, the fans know that, and so do the management and players. Neither team will be delighted with the number of injuries there appeared to be too, hopefully none of them are too serious.
Hopefully yesterday was a one-off and the team can come back on Saturday with a tricky game at Ebbsfleet - one they can get a good result in if we play up to normal standard. After that, dare I say it, the fixture list starts to look a bit easier, although you've always got to watch out for the supposedly lower-ranked teams. There have also been a lot of draws in this league so far this season, either showing that teams are more at the same level this year or that some of the 'big guns' haven't got going yet.

I keep reading how great Aldershot were and how terrible we were. Not denying it was an awful game, but Aldershot can't have been that great, or us not that terrible for the game to have ended level. And you can point out how long Aldershot played with 10 men, but that wasn't our fault was it? I am all about the results and so far we have done as well as any one could reasonably have expected and another draw Saturday will suit me fine.

I've seen lots of games where the better team hasn't won. Haven't you? I think Aldershot passed it round better than us and produced the better chances throughout the game. The nearest was when they hit the post. I thought we defended well most of the game, as we have in most of the home games this season. That's maybe one reason they didn't score. Most of the criticism is reserved for our performance at the other end of the pitch....

Yes I accept your point. What I think many posts are not taking account of is just how much Saturday took out of this team. The players were absolutely exhausted, hence the number of stoppages for injuries and cramp. In those circumstances all you can ask is that the team remain solid and compact, and if you can't win the game, which we couldn't, then you make sure you don't lose it. I am quite happy where we currently are, but then I didn't have massive hopes for a high finish at the start of the season. I think we need at least 2 probably 3 players if we are to challenge anywhere near the top: 1) Someone with pace, especially on the left side 2) Someone to guarantee us 15 goals (and if Williamson should get injured, someone else to guarantee us another 20 goals) 3) A centre half in the Steve Bruce mould who is likely to actually play 35 - 40 games this season. I know we are stacked full of central defenders at the moment, but I am not convinced any of them are good enough if we are thinking top 4 or so.

Of course there any many reasons/excuses, tiredness, new team gelling etc etc but the facts are we didn't test the keeper just once! Our passing was riidiculously bad. Against ten men with the ref on our side all the excuses do not justify that from a professional team. I feel criticism is fair from frustrated fans? Looking forward now.

Three away teams had players sent off yesterday Aldershot, Dagenham & Redbridge and FC Halifax Town.
All three score lines were 0-0
