Credit to Shots who were positive from the start. It's been pointed out to me on the phone this evening by someone who was at the same fixture last season that Aldershot took a point away on that occasion having had a man sent off in the first half. Does that qualify them as a bogey team? It was a frustrating afternoon which was a pity considering we had a fantastic attendance, not to mention beautiful bank holiday weather. Much has been made by others of the way the team was set up at various stages and I can understand that - the concern I had was mainly after Sam Togwell had to come off and Ayo went into the middle with Sam Matthews back out wide. I can't help reflecting though that our squad is light in certain areas which is inevitably going to compromise those kind of decisions. I have no doubt we will have more frustrating days to come but if we can pick up a couple of reinforcements in the right areas, even in the loan market (how good is loanee Howe! - and some more flashes of inspiration from Matthews today too!) we are going to be in contention for a top placing come the end of the season. These are the games from which managers learn and build.

Worrying repeated comments on the BBC Solent Sport commentary this afternoon regarding the role that the new pitch was playing in the injury count. Jill and I were unable to attend today so listened to the game on-line. This story is not going away after the problems pre-season and before the Dagenham game. You cant blame the pitch for the theatricals though !!!!! Totally agree - I can't comment in the pitch from a groundsmans perspective - but I felt that the Oscars must be due soon - not the guy who was stretched off (not sure of the injury but you could certainly tell he was in pain) or the head injury - but it did feel as though 1 or 2 others were trying it on - hence the yellow in the first half for diving - well played to the ref on that.

Re-inforcements, the pitch, diving etc its much simpler than that isn't it? We can't get st least one single, real, chance against ten men over 60 minutes. Our passing was awful, long ball tactics again. Players shuffling position. Really? Anyone think we'll be anywhere near the play offs is dreaming with this setup. Sorry but I'm very frustrated!

A game to forget. Dire, boring, uneventful, apart from the injuries. Blimey, anyone who came to the Silverlake for the first time will surely take some persuading to return. Zero for entertainment, but most of us would have taken a point before the game.

I think it might be the other way round & Aldershot see us as their bogey team! We have played them 8 teams since 2014 and they have not beaten us. Generally we seem to win at the rec and draw at the silverlake.

2 games over the bank holiday period we could/should have won but we win neither.
Am sure 4 points would have been seen as a healthy return by virtually everyone. Ebbsfleet have drawn 6 out of 7 so far so what price another draw up there on Saturday?!

I think the half time tactical change was more obvious to see than some comments above. Going three CH and pushing on Ayo and Greener as wing backs was certainly a Plan B. The fact that the personal (not just those asked to play WB) were not up to the change made us even less effective than we were in the first half. If that was the message, then they certainly didn't get it.....

My son stuck it out throughout the whole of the disastrous martin Allen tenure, but today he decided not a attend as so far it's been 'really boring'..this is from an eight year old who has seen nothing to raise a mere glimmer of hope.

I brought my girlfriend and one of my grandchildren to this - Oh dear. Certainly up there with one of the worst games I have ever watched. That said nether team could cope with the searing heat, and this only 2 days after a massive test at Orient. So I am not complaining. After a very difficult set of opening fixtures we have lost once, and in that we were very unlucky. I'll take a draw Saturday as well. RH has got a fit committed well organised team sorted, and I think we will be at least mid table come the end of the season. After the wreckage of last season that's a big improvement. I realise I will be in a minority of 1, but I don't actually go to football to be entertained, I go to see my team hopefully win, and certainly not to lose. RH is doing okay. Nothing to celebrate, but the last 3 days have shown we have a fully committed team, working for each other and the club. That will do for starters.

The red card prevented Aldershot from going on to win the game and I remain convinced they will win the title this season. From our point of view we were poor, a man advantage for over an hour and we never got a shot on target if I recall correctly, though I did think Macca had scored in the closing minutes but was wide of the post. Matthews is a player who gets me off my seat every time he gets the ball and takes them on....I kept thinking if only we had Dave Tarpey upfront to feed off him, I truly believe we'd have won all four of our drawn games with him lurking about to strike....and we'd be sitting pretty at the top 3 points clear. We're a finisher and a pacey winger on the left from being a very good team in my opinion...so near....so far!! Having said that, we have to be honest, when those fixtures were released and we saw our schedule for August we've done very well indeed. Only one defeat which was daylight robbery (yeah I know it was a night match!!!) and 10 points on the board, five adrift of the early pace setters whom we've already beaten. We're strong defensively and we'll be hard to beat at home, the worry is the away form, ok its only three games in, but we've only scored from the penalty spot at Woking and Orient. Admittedly we should have won all three of those games, but thats football for you.

Yesterday was very disappointing after what I thought was a good performance against a strong Orient team Saturday. I thought we looked tired at the end of Saturday's game and maybe that accounts for why we were so leaden-footed yesterday. Not getting too down-hearted so early in the season, but I still think RH isn't the man to take us forward.
At Orient I reflected at the damage their last owner did to such a historic club and thought how lucky we are to have an owner that only ever wanted to be at Eastleigh and who doesn't get directly involved in team affairs.
Keep the faith guys !
