Worrying violence after the match.
About 5 minutes after the whistle some of our more stupid yoofs were giving the departing daggers fans the BBB treatment. About 4-5 Daggers fans ran back into the ground and launched into the Eastleigh Stupids by the toilet block adjacent to the motorway end stand. Unfortunately 2 children about 5 years old who were standing there were kicked and knocked over by the fighting fans. There were just 2 stewards anywhere near the fight, a young lad and a female. Sensibly neither tried to intervene.
Given that there had been aggro (largely verbals) throughout the game, the lack of adequate control at the end of the match was a serious oversight. We only had a fraction of the boys in yellow that we had present at the Sutton game - presumably they earn more at Saints. This came close to being a serious incident with young children innocently involved - we cannot allow this. We may not be so lucky next time.

From where I was stood there was 3 stewards with our young fans all through the game but with there fans no stewards..there fans were allowed to walk through the seats towards ours...why wasn't the black sheet put on the seats between fans...really think we need more older stewards and not young boys/girls and women(Not being sexist) If it really kicks off 1 day the stewards will have no chance ..

Agree with the above comments, but there was a game at St Mary's today so that probably affected the number/quality of stewards available at our game.

"There were just 2 stewards anywhere near the fight, a young lad and a female."
In hindsight this was probably ill advised. There was some aggro at this game last year so shouldn't there have been more like 6-8 stewards around when away & home fans are in close proximity at the end of the game?
Think there were 16-20(?) stewards at the game so would think we could hopefully spare a good number given it is obviously a potential flashpoint.

To be fair to the stewards, there was a medical issue up in the stands prior to the incident which left them stretched when the assault occured. They do a difficult job that is essential in making these matches safe, so I would rather focus on the disgusting behaviour of a hand full of fans that ruined it for everyone.
I thought that the conduct from some of the daggers fans was dispicable today. Not only did they verbally abuse a child with special needs just before full time, but also attacked a man infront of his young child. I've never seen anything like it in my entire life The daggers manager was laughing on the pitch after it. Having said that, winding up a set of fans that are known to be volatile is never a smart move.
I hope the police were called and that those involved were arrested. The club needs to act against this kind of behaviour and I'd like to see at least a statement on what the club has done to address it.
Otherwise a good result for the spitfires, shame we couldn't take 3 points!!

Ok, it was me that got attacked by 3 of them, and all I did was give banter back. The stewards were as useful as a chocolate teapot. This was all videoed and will be used as evidence. The stewarding today was abysmal, the main perpetrator is known to the club as he caused the trouble last year, and he was standing outside of the gste at the Mackoy end waiting to start trouble. So, before you all jump to conclusions, get your facts straight.

Not so, I was next to the incident you refer to. There were no stewards involved. The 2 who came to the family's aid were told they were not needed and left.

Was this the incident at the foot of the main stand? No stewards were involved in said incident - one had offered to call an ambulance, the club doctor offered help but neither were necessary and so continued their roles.

You then decide to give some banter on the way out and get a smack. Very clever that, keep it shut and wallk away, all whilst having your son with you. Seem plebty of people like that before. They won't hit me I've got my son with me.

I was down the other end of the ground when the match ended so saw nothing of the incident and am only going by what has been said on his forum. I read what had gone on with dismay when I got home and it has been running around in my head all evening so have had to comment. You were `giving as good as you got` in the, I would presume, not too polite Banter department. Seems incredible you were doing this while looking after your own child, but still that is up to you. But then to blame the stewards for what followed beggars believe. They were supposed to intervene between you and a few Daggers idiots, you got to be joking Reminds of a dog that lived in our street when I was young. He would run along the front fence of his own garden whenever anybody walked by. Scared all us kids I will tell you. One day an adult walked along the fence and got the usual reception from the dog but as the dog worked his way, barking furiously, along the fence he suddenly saw that the garden gate was open and he was suddenly confronted by this man with no intervening fence. He ran as fast as he could around to the back of his garden barking all the way.

Juse to clarify, it's never OK to assault anyone whether "banter" is given or not. I did witness the event and from what I saw it was a gross over exaggeration from the person that attacked, that was not acceptable in this day and age.
Also there were stewards initially at the scene of the medical incident ( in the stands not at the foot of the stands) prior to the medical team arriving and deciding that they were not needed.
I'm just trying to reflect on what a difficult job it must be to be a steward, especially given that they have to manage 1600 odd supporters with a far fewer team and unfortunately take a lot of flak every Saturday. I'd hate for a steward to read this forum and feel like the fans don't appreciate them as they are an important factor in making sure these games actually happen.
I hope everyone involved is OK and I'm sure they'll be some positive retrospective action because of it that will make everyone safer at future games.

All these Eastleigh supporters that witnessed a small handful of Dagenham fans dishing out a few slaps and not one of you thought to get stuck in and see them off. Disgusting.

If you saw it then comment, if not, button it and stop jumping to conlusions.......
