It seriously worries me that the manager of any club would take much notice of forum comments, let alone then mention it in public. Good job we are not a big club where there are several forums and real keyboard warriors ☺ I guess the question the club (all clubs) should ask, is:- is there a difference with a posted on-line opinion and somebody who 'shouts an opinion' from the stands to individual players of officials? Arguably, the latter can be far more offensive & opinionated (just because they think they're funny in front of their mates, or that they 'think' they know better than those around them, doesn't mean the rest of us in that stand agree with them) - at least forums allow debate & give a voice, hopefully in a more measured, less stressy environment ........ but then again ........ ;-).

I would hope that any manager would take no notice of either and if he is going to take an opinion from anyone would make sure he knew the source and got the reasoning behind it before even considering it. Surely everyone knows that 99.9% of comments on here contain a large amount of guessing a situation because we don't know the players or the real reasons behind any decision, even of someone is making out they are in the know. If we had a bad run next season i might get the psychology of passing the blame to the fans, but this year RH can genuinely blame what came before him.

RH has always had a grouse against the forum voices, if he does'nt like the comments, don't bloody read them. He's got fans on his side and he's going to have fans against....if he is allowed to have 'favourites' who he picks, then fans can have their favourites too in manager terms. He wants to be loved by everyone and its not going to happen. I've spoken with him a few times, a nice bloke, and I'd rather he takes the DoF post than take the managers chair so we can have stability. Lets say RH takes over, he is training up Strevs to be the next manager, so when he does step down and Strevs comes in....its not his team, its RH's team and we'll be saying as much.
You really need to put RH in the DoF post and pick a manager who is going to be given a minimum two full seasons with an option of a 3rd...that allows a good period of rebuild and progress with stability, that is the sensible way forward. Following the comments of SD in the Echo on Friday in which he says, "There is a really excellent manager who Richard would be happy to work with if he takes up DoF" or words to that effect, and a name that has been mentioned again is Nigel Adkins.

www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/15240942.Eastleigh_boss___I_inherited_this_situation__I_didn_t_create_it___but_the_main_thing_is_we_re_staying_up_/Seems like a fair assessment. I don't think anyone is blaming him at all for some of the performances in the last couple of months - as he says, the main thing is he's managed to get a decent team performance often enough to dispel any fears of relegation. Personally, I don't think we were ever in danger, even under MA. I haven't seen much criticism of RH on the forum, so i'm not sure where his problem is. Criticism of players, of past managers, uninformed speculation, yes.... but we all know what RH has done for the club. Twice, now. Otherwise it looks like a bit of a mess he's got to sort out for next season...... interesting comments re Jack Masterton.
