Perhaps a dose of reality is needed. We have been in this league for just 3 seasons. There are clubs with a vast history and larger fan-base who have been stuck in this league for a lot longer than 3 seasons. My cup is (for once) definitely more than half full. We have learnt what a hard division this is to get out off (upwards, at least). Three seasons, three finishes in the top half and one playoff appearance.
Not a bad start despite the problems this term. I am happy to let the present set-up run for a few months and see how we progress.

There's certainly a lot to chew over here, a lot of people, myself included have views on this and that, who should have come in or why did he come in, we should be higher we are a big club blah, well I think we are a club on the up, certainly not a big club, there are several clubs with a lot higher attendances than us if that is the way we are judged, our average is good but it isn't great. From where the club was and I wasn't part of that era to where it is now is fantastic and due to our chairman and management team, a few decisions have not turned out how we wanted but that's life, it doesn't anways come off, we all know the chairman wanted his 5 year plan etc but as he himself has said he got it wrong, so what, it's a learning curve and you can bet your life the next season or two the anti will have well and truly been upped so it's all to look forward to. The ground is ongoing, again look where the club was with that, the anti new fan brigade has become silent, maybe they actually DO want progression after all so it seems to me the club is progressing nicely, the only pressure that's been put on is by the chairman himself because it's in his nature to succeed . The club will, it all takes time. It's good times ahead so here's to next season.

I can't believe people are saying it was a mistake to let MA go. We would've definitely gone down with him in charge.

"We would've definitely gone down with him in charge."
I just can't agree with that at all US.
I know we were on an awful run under MA but to get to 53 points we would have needed just W3 D2 L8 from our last 13 games.
I think it likely we would have managed that. Certainly going a bit far to suggest we definitely wouldn't!
(We have got W4 D2 L5 from 11 games under Richard Hill.)

My take on us being a 'Big Club' is purely on the financial strength it has with our Chairman. The ground side of it is an ongoing project, as will be the team over the summer, but financially we are probably the 2nd biggest in this league...the FGR owner is a billionaire I believe!! I don't think SD is quite there yet :-)
EFC will continue to grow, it is clear that as the ground is built, people in the local community have started to come along to see what is happening down at the silverlake, they take it in, enjoy it, and decide to come more often. If we get the football side of it right and we are top six most of next season...big ask I know at the moment.....I think our average gate next season might get close to 3,000 and that would be progress towards being a big club with a good fan base as well.

We will never know whether MA would have kept us up had he stayed, but at the time of his departure I couldn't see us scoring another goal, let alone winning a match. He tried to change way too much, way too soon. I think bringing RH back was absolutely the right thing to do...but I am not convinced he is the right man to lead us into next season. I hope I am wrong, but I believe he will start next season as manager, and I don't think we will have a director of football.

With the squad MA had assembled (or disassembled), the lack of goals scored, the continued turnover of players, and general malaise around the SilverStad on & off the pitch, where would those 11 points have come from and who would've got the goals?

Since Bridle took over we have had five managers, but Richard has been the only one to have lasted more than a year and is the only one to reach the playoffs or achieve promotion, and he likes the club sod tries to bring in players who are also good people, so I would have thought he had a reasonable chance.

At least keeping Richard for next season will give us the stability we so desperately need. We've tried two experienced NL managers this season which didn't work so, much as I don't feel he is the right man for the job, it seems his current ways are working and 'if it ain't broke don't fix it'! (Well it nearly did...!)

Have liked Gary Johnson, most of the clubs he has taken over were in dire circumstances (I am not saying we are) and he has improved them. He could do a job at Eastleigh. I think you are right though RH will do the job next season.
