The whole 90 minutes was flatter than a witches tit! Half hearted players in front of a half empty ground. Zzzzzzz

The team - well I think that's the problem - it isn't 1... I'm not sure if it's all the in and out of players or the inconsistency we're showing but, we don't seem a team at the moment. The boys were not playing for each other and seemed to give up. Think they could do with another team bonding trip to Scotland!!!

Chester knew or worked out how to play us very quickly, we failed to work out how to play them. They soaked up our somewhat inept pressure with 8 behind the ball sometimes & broke quickly. Was it their pace that was our undoing? Connor was sorely missed today. No plan B. To what extent is the pitch to blame? Interesting to see how we play on Maidstone's carpet on Tues. Today was one of those games to forget quickly.

Halifax did have someone watching today. He was stood next to us before the game. Bet he was laughing by the final whistle!

Not a great day. But we've had worse. Lots of people had left by the end, which I haven't seen very often, Some boos too.
Thought we started OK, we were shocked by their goal (great cross from the left making its way across the area past several defenders) and started to lose our way towards the end of the first half. Mandron had a poor game today, Wilson looked a bit better.
Second half we lacked ideas as they defended well and started to look more dangerous. It probably was a penalty (so why no card, the player was clean through?), good save by Brown, (who I thought looked good today), we should have cleared the ball from the scramble but it was put in by a player who was clearly offside. I'm sure that's why Brown ran over to the ref/linesman and got booked. We then tried to get back but were ineffective. Reda seemed to be given the ball a lot to try and set up an attack. He was far too slow in doing this. Their third came when we were caught by a quickly-taken free-kick from the wrong position - Brown nearly saved it from the one-on-one, he was unlucky. Poor ref but no excuses - we were poor too.
I hope the players' thoughts were not on the Cup game - they have another match at Maidstone before that. Incredibly we're still only 7 points off the playoffs. But we're going to have to improve, and quickly. The pitch had no effect on the result whatsoever. Chester played similar to York but were better coming forward. Like last season, we don't handle teams like that well at home - our away form is better at the moment.

A pretty dire affair! but it's only one game of our season and can only hope we are not that bad again.
Our need for a proper goal scorer (or Beano to find form) was clearly highlighted. There's no point getting the ball in the box if there is no one there to attack it (I like mandron and wilson but they aren't great in the air) and whatever the question Cureton is not the answer, at 1-0 up opponents will sit deeper so he won't get in behind them and you can't hit it in the air to him.
I don't share the level of despair of others on here - it was bad day at the office (we all have them) lets put it behind us and move on.

Forgive and forget (even though it was pretty dire.) All will be forgiven when we get past Halifax, and draw Chelsea or Manchester United, at home, in the 3rd Round. KEEP FAITH WITH THE CHAIRMAN!

I don't believe for one minute the players don't care about the club and all they are interested in is picking up their wages. I don't believe todays performance had anything to do with the FA Cup, absolutely nothing; a total red herring. I don't believe the pitch has anything to do with anything. Chester played pretty well on it. Our big problem and it is a VERY BIG PROBLEM is a total lack of pace in any area of the pitch. Until we address this problem we are going to struggle against any team who do have pace. Pure and simple.

There can't be any excuses today, just plain awful. Unfair to lay blame at Mandrons door, thought he did well enough, He and Wilson building a decent partnership. Wilson the only player likely to do any opposing player for pace. Coulson and Stearn were very average, Taylor not great either. As a team though we have no clue. Although 442 didn't seem to be serving us well, the 451 at Aldershot was even worse. Not sure what the answer is but I don't think saving the manager will help right now, we may have to just ride it out.

How long should we watch todays rubbish & keep saying its only one game - when do we get to the point where we say I don't share the level of despair of others on here - it was bad season at the office (we all have them) lets put it behind us and move on.

I was only listening to the radio so don't have a full assessment, but from what I heard, we were great in midfield but have a defense who can't defend and an attack that can't attack! which is a bit of a problem! I think you are not far off there Mark. It was a strange game. We probably had more possession than Chester but didn't really fashion many chances.
Our best period was probably at the of the second half when we were pouring forward.
Would be interested to see the 2nd goal again, we could well have been hard done by there.
Nearly every player was poor today, could probably write an essay on the deficiencies of that performance.
Lets hope we can put it right on Tuesday

We watch our team regardless of results, and as paying customers we are entitled to our views. However any booing or openly calling for a Manager's head on a plate is not helpful. It suits some people, and indeed today's result maybe secretly was what was wanted by one or two detractors, as it endorses their view that the Manager is not good enough! Well are FGR calling for Mark Cooper's head after a few recent poor results? I have said before that our hopes are so high that any draw or loss is greeted with derision. There should be no question mark after Ronnie Out posts. He needs the full season, and I believe that only then can any judgement be made.

I agree that we could (possibly should) have won those 5 games but I definitely don't think we played as badly in them as we did today (I would only put Dover up there with today's performance). I'm in the camp that says RM should definitely be given at least the season (I would say judge him after two) but obviously in the unlikely event we play that badly every game then I would change my mind - let's hope we get the team that turned up at Swindon for every game til the end of the season!! Can I also say I wasn't blaming Mandron or Wilson just that we aren't playing to their strengths.
