So you would no longer bet on us..? From a non emotional and financial point of view, I'd stick with my original stand point in my first post, I'd be laying us for top 5 finish at this stage.

I think as we sit today we have a chance of top 5. However if we don't take any points from the next two you have to write us off. Minimum 4 points from the next two games and top five is still a reality.
Very interesting to see form has dropped across the board.

Any chance left of a PO place IMO means 4 points as a minimum from the next 2 games. Losing to Braintree will definitely be the worst case scenario.

Well, Ben S. being banned until 28 March probably hasn't improved our chances !!

I am still 100% convinced we will make the play off's. We will win next week and cough and splutter our way to the play off's.

After the run we've had, the only thing that matters is we win a game. Win one and the whole world will look much better, but talking about the play offs before we have that win, is IMO irrelevant.

Look what happened with Valencia - they couldn't buy a win but when they did it was 3 in a row. We have good players so need to be positive and with the support of the 12th man(spitfire fans) next Tuesday we have to believe. We were unfortunate to lose at Forest Green so home against Cheltenham, with the help of the man in the middle, shouldn't be too difficult

We have a superb group of players and brilliant people running the club and the team. I fear though that we've been caught short on recruitment - as openly stated elsewhere by our very very honest Chairman.
With a fairly thin squad to start with, Chris Todd has been forced into making quick decisions to bolster numbers and has had to trust the info available to him. He has had no time to build any kind of scouting intel network or infrastructure which as Sattsy has pointed out elsewhere, in one form or another, is crucial in any successful campaign. Some recruits have fallen by the wayside and we haven't been able to hold on to a couple we would have liked to keep, especially in my view Wes Atkinson who I think has gone back to being a regular first team squad member at Notts County. We're lucky we've got Matt Tubbs from Pompey and Luke Coulson from Oxford City with us now but we are still short in key areas.
Without knowing how we'll do in what's left of the loan window, it's impossible to call the odds for a play off finish I think. That said, I honestly believe that Chris and the squad have to spend the rest of the season (cliché alert) taking each game as it comes. Even if we are not in the play offs, finishing the season in 6th or 7th position will give us a better chance of selling season tickets, attracting commercial sponsorship etc and competing for the best players available. To give the season up (eg use the remaining games to trial unfancied younger players as has been suggested) and slide into the bottom half would not help the club's image and credibility. We do need to realise that we have to compete to the max until the final whistle on 30th April, wherever we happen to be in the league that day.

It seems to have gone very quiet regarding any new signings. Even after the announcement of Strev's lengthy ban. Are we still looking or are we "making do" for the rest of this season?

Had a look again at this a few games on, so what has changed on average pts and form ? 5 game form line, we finish 15th (was 13th) 10 game form line, we finish 11th (was 8th) 15 game form line, we finish 8th (was 5th) Interesting though, that forecast then for any team obtaining 5th was 5 games form 83 pts 10 games form 81 pts 15 games for 78 pts Now its 5 games form 79 pts 10 games form 77 pts 15 games for 77 pts So although our form has dropped, so has everyone elses that look to be ending up near a play off spot. However, the 15 game form did see us finishing 5th by a pt, now its short by 6pts, so although others have dropped a bit of form, its still increased from us as a pts per game forecast and its a 7pt swing against us. A couple of more games on and the forecasted pts gap to 5th has gone through the roof. 15 game form has seen us going from 1pt, to 6pts last time, and now to 10pts short of 5th. 10 game form now sees us 21 pts short of 5th 5 game form sees us 21 pts short of 5th As the weeks go by the forecasted gap is getting bigger.

I am sure in 10th we are pretty much the lowest club to consider we have a chance of the top 5.
It's ironic that much rests on our home form (next 3 are against lower sides at home). Earlier in the season we flourished away and struggled at home.
Recently we have lost a lot for away games, whereas at home we are undefeated since November!
Obviously we are outsiders but i am fairly optimistic (perhaps because I missed today).

I'm not so sure now. 9 from the next three would be nice...

What are peoples thoughts further on down the line ?
I think 5th this year will be the largest points haul in years and we don't even get 80. So as you can see, dont think we finish better than 6th, but mostly likely 7th or 8th.
I really dont see the top 6 changing now. Pretty much all of them stay in the top 6, with only Tranmere likely to bottle it to a degree. I even think the play off spot will be decided before the end of the season as see 5th finishing 6pts clear of 6th come the final whistle.
I see the bookies pretty much have Dover nailed on now for a play off spot with Braintree at even money for the last space.
