Would have to be a real change in form for the team's above us not to at least get 82/83 points and same change for us to get near 80 so it's probably done. However stranger things have happened and 'I'D REALLY LOVE IT IF WE BEAT THEM' Happy Easter ?

Positive thinking is needed. We have 8 games left. Win them all and we will definitely make the playoffs. Indeed we may not have to win them all, but if we don't win them all then we have no one to blame but ourselves. Realistically we probably have to win 6, draw one and lose one.

Within the bounds of reasonable probability efcspitfire.
Theoretically we could win the title with 8 wins & 87 points, of course we know there is zero chance that will happen.
I'd bet my house to win a pound if we get 87 points we'll make the playoffs. It's 99.99999 %

Careful Rendel, you could lose such a bet if you were daft enough!!! Looking at each team and their games left I made the top six to end up as:
Cheltenham 100 Points Forest Green 96 Grimsby 90 Dover 88 Braintree 86 Eastleigh 85
In theory then, Braintree pick up an extra win instead of a draw, even if we won all 8 games, 87 would not be enough. Pressure will probably mean points getting dropped everywhere, but even at 99.99999% I wouldn't risk it, those top five teams are handling the pressure so far, though Forest Green had a blip Friday. I agree it would be incredible to get 87 and not be in the PO but its possible and you'd lose your house!!!!!

No chance, all those figures are too high.
Would be very suprised if both Braintree & Dover saunter into the playoffs with mid 80 points,
Neither have ever made it before, both have fallen away before.
You just know they will drop points in the run in (as we did on sat). No such thing as a banker win in this league, let alone away from home.
If we can get a win today we will very probably make up some ground

Way too high, Keith. There will be lots of drawn games against lower league clubs battling to get to safety, hence our draw at Welling, and i'll predict another draw for us at Torquay today.

What arrogant to write off Braintree Rendel, defensively strong, they usually only need to score once to pick up 3 points.

Amazing how one day's results can change our fortunes. If we had lost & the others won, I'd have said we had blown our chances. Now, we're right back in the mix & have everything to play for. It just shows how the other in form sides can slip up. Friday's 0-0 not looking so bad now.

(in hindsight, of course!)

Not writing anyone off in the slightest. Just think its very open and there will be lots of twists and turns (as the cliché goes).
Its now a shoot out between 5 of us for 2 places (though I guess maybe even 3 places from 6) as Grimsby aren't quite home & hosed.
Things will change weekly but for me we are definitely now in the "business end" of the season.
We've won 5 from our last 7 league games. If we win 5 from our final 7 league games I think it very likely we will be in the top 5.

Last 6 league games - form table (Thanks to the New Fishy Forum) makes interesting reading. Barrow (ignore them) top with 14 points Then we are tied on 13 points with Douvres, Wrexham and Grimsby (2nd =) Tranmere on 12 points (6th) Braintree on 11 points (7th)..... Cheltenham and FGR tied on 7 points (=11th) All to play for. BTW, bottom of the form guide on 1 point is Woking, (1 draw and 5 defeats)

Keeping 4 clean sheets on the bounce has helped, but only scoring 4 goals in those same 4 games, shows that even against teams towards the bottom of the able, if teams score 1 against us, then they probably beat us or at least get a draw.
