Yip i should have said "the stats are stacked against us", rather than the odds. I cant see us doing it at all, we really don't look capable of putting a run together, we are far too easy to play against and will concede goals every game, so have to score at least 2 & probably 3, and i feel that's unlikely to happen often enough, the way we have been playing over the last 10 games. I would normally have agreed with Keith that our pitch wont help us, but i'm not sure now, as we played on 2 perfect pitches at Lincoln & Kiddy and lost both games conceding 3 in each!, so not sure a good pitch suits us either. Facts are, we are playing crap and have been for a while now and unless we can put that right immediately, we are going to drop out of it. A real shame, as i bet we've had a massive budget this year, especially with Tubbs coming in, yet we still look short on players and quality in the right areas. I just hope if we do miss out, that SD maintains his enthusiasm to have another go next year. Although we had a great cup run, if we miss out on making the play offs, you would have to call it a disappointing season, as play offs were the minimum requirement at the start of the season. In truth, its all gone very flat since losing to Bolton & the buzz around the club seems to be seeping out of everyone, so as Michael suggests, we really need a great result and performance IMO on Saturday, to try and get everyone buzzing & believing again.

The home postponements are stacking up.
This could affect our play-off chances, especially with a small squad playing lots of games in a short time.

In short NO. I was going to reserve judgement until after tomorrows game. With our game being off and in all probability us out of the PO spots tomorrow I'm going for a 7th place finish. I hope the team can prove me wrong but I really can't see it judging on our poor run and in particular the last three games.

My glass is still half full! I believe we can get a run together and will get a run together! I believe Toddy backed by SD will get us back on track. How sweet it will be for this team to make the play off final. I still believe!!

Yes but we won't go up. Grimsby were better than us last season and still are this year. It's their turn in the play offs this season.

The play offs are an absolute lottery, any team that makes them can win them.

Yes, Grimsby were better than us last year, but we were both better than Bristol Rovers and we all know what happened at Wembley. IF (and it is a big if) we make the play offs we have as much a chance as the other 3 teams who take part. League form goes out the window and it becomes a 3 game Cup tournament.

Lets just make the play offs and continue the discussion then.

Yes spot on, reach the lottery of the play offs and who knows! No one expects it, so forget about "turns to go up" etc and believe. Reaching 5th place will suffice for the dream to continue. Leicester and Eastleigh for a win double, great odds I reckon. Belief is the key to almost everything in life.

I thought that the results yesterday were not too bad, it could have been a lot worse and we would the have finished about 11th, so let's get stuck in, Gateshead is a long journey but I'm sure we can get back on track Tuesday night, quietly confident.

My thoughts, too. A decent turn round in form and I can see no reason why we can't be there or thereabouts by May. I'm a firm believer that the play-offs are a 100% lottery. Get there and we've as much chance as any team. In the meantime Gateshead is looking a bit iffy for Tuesday with a lot of snow in the local forecast overnight tonight and on Monday.

I do not understand US Spitfire's comments about Bristol Rovers who only just missed out on automatic promotion and probably deserved over the season to go up.

Had a look again at this a few games on, so what has changed on average pts and form ?
5 game form line, we finish 15th (was 13th) 10 game form line, we finish 11th (was 8th) 15 game form line, we finish 8th (was 5th)
Interesting though, that forecast then for any team obtaining 5th was
5 games form 83 pts
10 games form 81 pts
15 games for 78 pts
Now its
5 games form 79 pts
10 games form 77 pts
15 games for 77 pts
So although our form has dropped, so has everyone elses that look to be ending up near a play off spot. However, the 15 game form did see us finishing 5th by a pt, now its short by 6pts, so although others have dropped a bit of form, its still increased from us as a pts per game forecast and its a 7pt swing against us.
