Thought from day 1 this would happen and i'm ok with it. I notice there was no mention on the length of contract Hilly has been given, so i suspect that it will be until the end of this season. Then we will get our man, who is likely to be currently employed and couldn't be enticed away, or was too expensive to do so. Hilly wont let us down and will do his best, but he will need the players to get behind him and not turn on him if things don't always go to plan, and the same goes for the fans. A few words of sense amongst the wave of nonsense I’ve read the past few days. I agree I think it will be for the season until we can get the person we really want who isn’t available right now.

'Hilly will do his best and won't let us down'
I'm not sure experience of his two previous tenures bears that statement out.
As I said the decision is made and I will back the club and the team but in exchange for this backing I would sincerely hope that RH will reflect on his past mistakes both on and off the pitch and learn from them this time round.

Any spare season tickets going message me I might buy them up for families who would love to go to their local team and watch football for 90 mins every other week. Hopefully there will be a few freebies going around. The club are good with local youth teams in the area and giving out free tickets

I appreciate what Hill did at the club during his first spell at the helm. Obviously SD go to man in the football world, but what’s the plan now then?
Next season we have to look at a 3-5 year plan, problem we be who the next manager has to answer to. Also will they be able to do the job without the interference of the director of football, as let’s face it it hasn’t worked since Hill moved upstairs.

I haven't been to the away games so can't judge the full picture but my perception from seeing the the team at home is reasonably positive. I stood close to the TV interview after the Aldershot match when one of the interviewers questioned why RH didn't look like he had just won the match. His reply was that whenever you think everything is going well, in this game there's always a kick up the backside waiting for you just around the corner. And sure enough, along came Gateshead. RH subsequently I believe took responsibility for that result, saying his tactics had been wrong - or something to that effect. Certainly in the subsequent matches there has been more emphasis on making the ball do the work and opening the game up more. There has also been some incremental improvement in a number of individual performances - Scott Quigley for example was getting dog's abuse on here andon Facebook a few weeks ago from the usual munchkins and has since put in some impressive work. Player selection will always be contentious with some supporters but we just don't know what problems individual players might have from week to week and the manager's selection has to take all factors into consideration including performances in training, the way he wants to set the team up and also individual injury issues which might not stop a player being on the bench but might rule him out from starting a match. I think Mr Satterthwaite has it about right and has put it more succinctly. His recollection might be of some of the things both he and I have seen over the last 9 years. When Stuart came to the club, Richard was behind the scenes when Ian Baird spent his new found transfer budget on the players he wanted. They were Bairdy's team, and they failed. Richard took over and worked to get better results from that team while gradually making key changes to the playing personnel - yes including some experienced pro's, both young and old, and also some not so experienced. In a short time we were in the National League having won the South after a very indifferent start to that season. Not only that but in our first season at the top non league level we got to the play offs - which nobody had expected. Richard Hill's second spell was a rescue mission when the club had gone into free fall under Martin Allen. He pulled things around and we survived. It was no surprise when he came back to Eastleigh with Stuart this year. I had been surprised at Lee Bradbury's appointment, having followed his managerial career over previous years but, as had happened with previous managers working for Stuart, he would have been allowed to decide on the players he wanted to keep and to recruit. Clearly there were some less than ideal decisions. The most bizarre seemed to me to be letting Cav Miley go - if he had been able to manage and work with that player he would have had far better results. RH's involvement in player recruitment for LB would, I believe, have been in dealing with the agents and the contracts, and I doubt he would have tried to have significant influence over who Bradbury brought in. I agree with the idea that, if the club want to bring in a new manager for the longer term, it will be good to keep stability within the club in the meantime until the time is right for that change to happen

Hopefully good times are on the way Thanks for the constructive and reasoned analysis Rocky. I don't think at any point there I have said anything about clapping or being happy with the way we are playing. It just takes time and technical work to turn a sow's ear into a silk purse and in the meantime the playing style is all about cutting your garments according to your cloth. That's just about all the metaphors I can manage at this time in the morning to try and get the point across.

Frankly back4more that is a load of cobblers, it’s not like we have a tiny budget or are trying to develop youngsters. Hill has signed these experienced players. We are massively underperforming

Gotta laugh at how Bradbury is completely absolved by some of ALL blame for the players brought in, and how they were playing under him.

So what is the truth? Who brought the players in? The type of player recruited seems typical of what RH would recruit, but LB must have had at least some input to it.
Either way the squad has deficiencies in it e.g. defensive midfield cover (RH implied that some players weren't fit enough). Our defence should be adequate, but has been ravaged by injuries. I'm comfortable with the front three.
LB struggled to make it work, and not many people argued about him leaving. RH struggled at first too, but seems to have found a temporary solution with a back five and Atangana in front of them; maybe when the returning players come he will find a different formation. Anyway, what must be our best result of the season today will help somewhat. Credit to RH, Jason and the team for that. Let's hope they can continue the good work on Tuesday.

I would hope LB and Brian Stock had their players ID'd regards to their style. Certainly we can say Atangana was an LB signing having managed him previously.
I would hope RH acted in good faith as the intermediary dealing with agents for players LB wanted.
Certainly SD would have had a say with his money being used, but Martin, McCallum were old friends to the club and a player like Maguire would have been known to SD and RH. So overall a mixture, I just can't fathom these opinions about RH doing the lot although they are valid , what sort of person/manager would allow that to be going on...

Would not understand why a manager would stay if as bad as some are saying. However, when Ben Strevens left he did not say anything bad about the club or individual players but the continued interference was not what he wanted. Any DOF will have an input in signings or contract negotiations but the buck should stop with the manager. Having followed the club in the past and in the conference south RH got some great form out of certain players

Just catching up after a quick holiday. The points from Maysie and others re Ben Strevens are interesting. I thought though that Strevs' much publicised dissatisfaction was regarding the sale of some of his best players for a profit. This was at a time when the Eastleigh playing budget was much reduced and both RH and SD were a long way away in the north east. It seemed to me that the decisions leading to Strevs' departure came from Kenny and his Board at that time. Strevs had previously worked successfully with RH, including as his assistant at Whitehawk. I imagined Richard might have also had an influence on Strevs coming back here as Hessenthaller's assisitant and then taking over as manager when Hess left.
