Thought from day 1 this would happen and i'm ok with it. I notice there was no mention on the length of contract Hilly has been given, so i suspect that it will be until the end of this season. Then we will get our man, who is likely to be currently employed and couldn't be enticed away, or was too expensive to do so. Hilly wont let us down and will do his best, but he will need the players to get behind him and not turn on him if things don't always go to plan, and the same goes for the fans. Needs a plan in the first place for the players and us to follow. Completely clueless.

Fans dont follow plans, they follow the football club, through good times & bad.

Fans dont follow plans, they follow the football club, through good times & bad. Completely agree. I had hoped I follow and support a club that had ambition, was forward thinking and was developing building blocks for the future. The appointment of Hill as manager confirms we are not.

We were clearly turned down by our first second, third......) choice, this can implied by the fact we've said we approached people in employment so clearly had someone in mind.
No surprise, if you look at how we treated LB and if you then read Strevens comments on twitter about RH (fascinating to see Ross Stearn and McCallister join in!). People in football talk and clearly no one wants to work under RH as a Director of Football.

But what if Hilly is the building block, then we get a top manager in next season? One thing we need for certain, is whoever comes in after Hilly, needs to be given a proper go at it, because changing manager every season and a bit does not work out well.

That would suggest SD has a plan. When does SD ever have a plan?!

Did make me laugh seeing some former employees of the club reacting on social media to the appointment.

Hilly was excellent when getting the team promoted to the NL. Some love him and some hate him. Clearly there are a number of ex players that dislike him.
Understand from sources on twitter Ardley turned you down as York offered more and the cowleys were too expensive if you believe everything you read.
Period of stability and ensuring the club settle for a Mid table season is the best you can hope for with a squad that right now doesn’t have the quality to get into the top 6. Wish Hilly the best of luck

I would say SD has made his decision (at last) and we'll continue to back the team.
If (as the statement alludes to) RH is going to deliver exciting, memorable football, then he needs backing to bring young creative players in. The injuries we have are almost all defensive (Panter, Martin, Camp, Clampin, Hodson etc) and McCallum and Quigley are effectively the same (target man to play off) type of player. Gateshead showed us exactly what is possible (last season and this!!) with the right plan and the desire to get on and stay on the front foot in games.

If we're talking players then IMO the first requirement is a big ******** in centre midfield to plug the gap there (thereby meaning we don't need to play five at the back to make up for it) who can lead the team and b*****k the players who aren't performing.
Yes, I'm not surprised either (see my post of 8th Sept) but also underwhelmed.

I used to invite people to watch games at The Silverlake, to try to convert them to become Eastleigh supporters. I stopped doing this last season, because the football was so boring it became an embarrassment. After a lot of soul searching, I decided to renew our season tickets on the eternal hopes of a football fan, that things can only get better. It appears that I am wrong. I’ve missed the last couple of home games, due to minor surgery, so my last Eastleigh experience was the 0–6 drubbing by Gateshead. With this latest announcement, at the moment, my time could be spent more enjoyably away from watching the team. I shall still use my season ticket, but I think i shall be more selective in the games I go to. I doubt very much that I shall be renewing our season tickets, after supporting the club for the last 12 seasons.

Ah well I can stop checking this board several times a day. The Cowleys were probably never a realistic option but it would be interesting to know who did apply or was approached. If I was an Eastleigh supporter I'd be very disappointed and unimpressed this morning.

Any spare season tickets going message me I might buy them up for families who would love to go to their local team and watch football for 90 mins every other week.

Underwhelmed but let's see what he can do with players he clearly sanctioned in the summer. The team is still in general short of youth, pace and energy so mid table seems where we will end up. Will hold off judgement whether RH can supply "exciting" football with this squad as it's definitely been lacking so far.

Personally I'd say that the home games, on average, have been about normal on the entertainment level. The Barnet and Gateshead games have so far been the best to watch (for vastly different reasons).
