I agree , a forum is for everyone’s views and opinions. It’s actually a case of everyone wanting the best for the club which in turn shows unity in the broader picture 👍🏻

I don’t think any other manager would have had us in a better position overall this season , but many of the games have been awful to watch and yes our league position is decent but many of the wins have been by a lucky goal here and there which has been flattering against the overall drab games that have been dished up. League position is for most the number one priority but if we add a bit of football into that then who could moan. Don't forget, this is LB's squad. last season his excuse was that he inherited the team, but this one he built. I had major reservations from early on when we had a squad, with 1 goalkeeper, about 25 defenders a couple of midfielders and 1 striker. But even with the same squad, too often he has employed the wrong tactics. His clean sheet at all costs approach has seen us draw too many games we should've/could've won, and lost too many we should've/could've gotten a draw from. It seems he doesn't have faith in the squad he built to be able to go out & play. … and the squad don’t have faith in him. Agree with most of this. He doesn’t know his best team, he wouldn’t know how to play his best team and he is probably more suited to a league a couple of divisions below.

Quite a few national league games tonight, which will make the playoff picture clearer.
If Bromley fail to win at Halifax tonight then we know a win for us on Saturday would definitely take things to the last day.

Bromley drew and Southend lost, so we are (given goal difference) effectively a win behind Bromley with two to play. Southend are two points behind us with two to play.
Bromley are at home to Chesterfield and away to Oldham, so not a given.
Southend are away at Scunthorpe and home to WEaldstone, six points there. Thry are certainly in with a chance.

Boreham wood aren’t quite home and hosed yet. They need 2 points to guarantee finishing above us. Next game on Saturday away to Wrexham which they will very likely lose.
Our task against an out of form Solihull with nothing to play for is quite simple, 3 points.

True, but even if Boreham Wood lose to Wrexham they need two points from home games against Gateshead and Yeovil (relegated tonight) to make it. Should be straightforward enough.
As you say, we just need to win both remaining games and hope. Not a lot has changed in that respect. Neither Solihull nor Halifax have much to play for and Halifax may be thinking about the Trophy final, so it's not over yet, given Bromley's last two games as mentioned above.

Unless I am wrong , isn’t it about time 3 teams went up from this league? It’s a long slog of a season and to just have two to go up is a really tough ask. Notts county will be nailed on to win the final really, they and obviously Wrexham are streets ahead this season , both deserve promotion. Yes there’s the chance of beating them (whoever gets there ) in a playoff final but tbh they deserve to go up and the 3rd spot for promotion should be contested by the next best. I think it’s 7th place this year to be involved so fingers crossed we have a place in them. I just think it should be 3 teams now. Also on a side issue , my own theory on play offs whether it’s this league or championship level is 3rd place team should be in the final, 4th place plays 5th (home advantage to 4th placed team)that way it’s just 2 games in total. The season is long enough!

Automatic promotion from this league only started in 1987 with two being brought in in 2003. Mark Ives did an interview on price of football podcast recently where he was more than confident of 3 up happening. It would take alot of the struggling league two clubs to wake up though, it would also need the continuing banging of the drum from clubs like Wrexham, Notts County once they do get promoted, which they won't do because they'll never need to stress about being back down again, Luton spent an unexpected amount of years down in the National League (5?) , Forest Green were the longest National League team at one stage, but you don't hear them talking about it. So the trap door will stay closed.
It really is up to the League 2 strugglers to help with the situation, your Rochdales, Hartlepool, 3 places could help them come back up quicker. Alot of them are doomed though like Colchester 30 million in debt etc, they know their race has run.

The whining ex FL clubs will more than likely forget all about NL once they finally get back into the EFL, especially as most of them seem to quickly move onwards and upwards once they do regain their league spot. The only ones who are likely to vote for 3 up are the boomerang teams like Grimsby & Hartlepool but they are few & far between. Personally I'd like to see 2 Automatic up & down & then 6v3 & 5v4 play offs with the winners playing off to go into a game against 3rd from bottom of League 2 for the final place. That way we get the best of both worlds - potentially 3 up and keep the play offs in the NL & that 3rd place play off in the EFL to keep the end of season alive for more clubs.

3 up seems a no brainier, am sure there are quite a few clubs that could survive in the league above. If notts county and Wrexham go up I think they will both be in contention to go straight through to league 1. Arguably more, maybe a promo/relegation playoff on top of that.
Going on off topic here, but using the same theory there is probably a compelling argument to reduce relegation from the PL to 2 places.
Though being honest, if and when we do go up to L2, I am sure I would be happy for it just be 2 up/2 down!

As to the comparison between League 2 and the National League I looked at this issue in the thread New to National League next season/
Tomorrow we play Solihull Moors who although they have only got 2 points from their last 4 games, won their 4 games immediately prior to this, but are now out of playoff contention/ Bromley are at home to Chesterfield who will bre looking to qualify for the playoff semi final/
In their final games Eastleigh and Bromley are both away to teams not involved in either the battle for a playoff place or the battle to avoid relegation/ How the F A Trophy final on 21st May affects Halifax next week remains to be seen//

A pedant writes: If we beat Halifax and Boreham Wood lose their last 2 with a goal difference swing of 14 or more whilst Southend don't win their last game then we make the playoffs! If all that happens I might go outside and look in the bin to see if a passerby has put the winning lottery ticket in :0) Its over and to think the table looked like this a few weeks ago: www.footballwebpages.co.uk/national-league/league-table/date/20230328it does wince a bit.

Which does beg the question - what went wrong around Easter? We hit a bad patch but if we had used better tactics that cost us so many points throughout the season - grabbings draws from victories and defeats from draws, we would have been safely in the play offs.
