If getting bums on seats is your measure Will then RH is the only choice. Think you will find in his last proper spell the numbers at The Lane tripled and I don't believe the numbers are on the wane at the moment 2500 for a 12.15 kick off with nothing on the game is a pretty impressive number so I'm not sure what you are basing your theory on. Will be interesting to get your thoughts on the signings as they come in as you will be watching a different tean in August (presuming you are still coming of course).

Katherine-no, these ppl aren't wind up merchants, they're stating their opinion which is OK isn't it on an opinion based forum?? The problem at Eastleigh is pure apathy, no passion from fans, young lads told they can't play instruments, roofs taken off stands for the prawn sandwich munchers and players who couldn't care less.

I think that it is very understandable to have some definite reservations about Richard Hill, but there is no doubt that he has a lot of affection for the club and is unquestionably the most successful manager under Stewart's chairmanship taking account of his overall record during three years in charge.
Richard also worked successfully with Andy Hessenthaler at Gillingham when they played in what is now the championship. Some people might also remember Andy as manager of Dover when he led them to the Conference South playoffs.

I do think the Andy Hessenthaler connection is a good one for RH and much now depends on who leaves and who comes to EFC in the next couple of months. I'm not a fan of Stack so I hope he goes back to being what he originally was brought in for, to be goalkeeping coach. We have to accept the football since RH came in has not been good, but it was as he says, "These are not my toys, I didn't pick them to play with" quite a good reference to the players. No doubt the Management team already has plans in place, what type/shape of football the team will want to play, and finding the right players to fit it properly, we've had too many square pegs in round holes.
The new modern way to play nowadays is 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 it seems....which is better? I'm a fan of 4-4-2 but if you played that against the first two formations I doubt you would open them very much unless there is real pace to counter attack. We all know we need some top class strikers, 56 league goals in 46 games is poor for a club like ours, and only 14 wins is around the 30% mark.
Come late July, early August the excitement will return, the belief that this season will not be repeated. Now RH is confirmed I do hope he gives two seasons at least, otherwise it would be daft to go earlier, unless of course the sack reared its ulgy head on him. We know he loves the club and will give his best every day he is in the managers chair. He's been brave to put himself back in the job and the pressure it will entail and we should all hope he makes a success of it.
Onwards and upwards we go....COYS.

Martfergie-none of us know what's going to happen in football. All we can go on are the facts in front of us which are his win ratio -about 30pc and the truly awful diet of football we have been served up including truly shockingly unprofessional displays at Solihull and north ferriby. These point to the fact he is not the man to excite this club and get bums on seats. You can hypothesise, predict and bluster all you like these are the actual facts in front of you. Check the facts, a 30% win ratio with a ripped apart team after MA messed it up. RH brought in Tubbs, McAllister, Reid and brought back Greener who won player of the season. We've done much better since they came in. RH is a great manager, no idea who you are Willk but I'm fairly certain you didn't watch this team when he was the manager before. Judge him next year. When he got us to 4th in our first season in conference prem he had around 1/3 of the playing budget, imagine what he could do with the full amount now! be patient, take a chill pill. I feel every time you come on this page your blood pressure rises, just relax and enjoy supporting the Spitfires!!

You're probably right, I should chill out a bit more about this team. Just so disappointed about this season and the complete chaos in the club. I certainly was watching 2 years ago and enjoyed it immensely-entertaining and enjoyable. These days you leave the ground feeling suicidal. Really hope he can recapture those days, just have a bad feeling it won't work out, he'll be gone by Xmas and that's another season wasted.

We are all disappointed with the way this season has gone but we must hope that things will improve next season and beyond. There are few teams that live up to the fans expectations but Stewart has held his hands up to the decisions he made and we look forward to new players coming in and a settled squad. Happy holidays and roll on the pre season friendlies and our first home and away game.

Hello to the keyboard warriors! Hill definitely the right man! His assistant is very good at this level and above. Hill worked under Hess in the gillingham days. Get the right players in and spend wisely he will do well. Strevs has his coach and still can play when needed another good appointment. Reid as a scout! Reid has set up his own scouting agency and will also bring in a lot of contacts to the club along with hill and Hess. It's a community club and all 4 will work hard and achieve the best for the club. They all know each other and I'm sure it will work.

Brilliant post. A pleasure to read someone being positive and hopeful - it makes a change! Personally I think we need to set realistic expectations - do that and we won't be desperately disappointed at the end of the season. I want to see a big improvement on this season, much more settled side and club, and I want to see a path forward that inspires me about the future. If I can see that I for one will be happy.

You've gone from telling us how pointless it is to travel to watch your team and how there is so much more in life for us to enjoy....now you are suicidal when leaving a home game?? I'm a little worried about you, lots of people out there who will help I'm sure.

I feel exactly the same and on times have decided not to drive all the way down to watch, I've also not renewed my season ticket for next year, although already regretting that decision. I think they'll get it right, and totally believe we'll have a much better season. How much better though I'm not sure but we've all got our fingers crossed!!

(can it??!). I really hope this management setup will work out for the best, and that they restore the confidence, pride and passion within the team.
