Utterly shambolic decision. We have a team with no passion, no flair, no skill, total lack of innovation and entertainment and we reward the guy by giving him the job. More of the same next season then. 'Keep on doing the same and you'll get the same" -stupid decision and a real slap in the face to ppl who have renewed season tickets expecting better things

Never thought I would be leaning to willk's point of view but I have to admit to being disappointed.
I was hoping we would attract a young, up and coming manager from Step 2/3 who Richard, as Director of Football, would be able to tutor and assist with his vast network of contacts in the game. I fear that this decision takes us absolutely no further forward and that we have wasted a great opportunity.

Hes kept the ship afloat. we don't and never will know what would of happened with other Managers. U r of course entitled to your opinion and no doubt if rapid progress doesn't happen at start of next season i'm sure he will be parting company again. However if the decision has been made at club level then you have a simple choice for next season--support the team including the Manager or go elsewhere. Simple really!!!

Seriously good news that the decision is made early and has been communicated.
Now the rebuild starts would not be surprised if there were no players who played today that start the first game next season.
Think its good news we have an experienced management team who can spend the next 3 months building the dream. There will be exciting signings and suspect our hopes will be much higher in 12 weeks time then they are today.

Its a decent decision, though not the one I personally would have made. It has however now been made and I will commit 100% to supporting it.

In a perfect world, not the decision i would have wanted but certainly not the worst. RH knows the club and AH did well with Dover with an excellent win %. RH has achieved the aims laid out by SD in the past. Next Season Stewart just needs to give him the challenge of winning the league by 10 points! :-)

Talk about short memories. You get a dodgy side to the Connie South play offs, then win it next time round, then you get them to the Connie National play offs and then you back off and let three other "managers" have a go all of whom make a complete B**llocks - sorry Toddy you didn't but I'm getting a bit annoyed here - and then you come back and save the club from the relentless dive to the trapdoor that Mr Allen was pursuing - and you have muppets saying they don't want you back. Ah well. What do I know. We have had new managers come in with so called exemplary credentials and their promises have turned to piecrust. THE LAST THING WE NEED IS YET ANOTHER NEW MANAGER. Say what you like about Mr Richard Hill and like him or loathe him - personally I think we are lucky he has agreed to come back. Can I please ask all you doomsayers, who would you have chosen and why? Right. Having said all that. Stewart, thank you for another sign of greatness in being prepared to delegate the club's football business entirely to a football professional. Thank you also for approving the establishment of a management team. I posted on here recently a copy and paste of the Lincoln management set up and there's no shame in thinking that might be something to gradually move towards. Anyway, enough from me.

I'm actually fine with Richard Hill staying on. I think he left this club with unfinished work, and he came back presented with a right mess of a team and done alright with it. Happy to see him stay on, personally.

I'm excited by the decision. RH was always a great manager for us, no one has finished higher than he has since he left, in fact the club has gone backwards! So why not give him another crack at the job with a team he has put together. And AH as his assistant is in my opinion a great appointment. Worked together previously I believe and lots of experience between them.
I look forward to digging up this post when we finish 5th or above this time next season and see how you all feel about them then!
I also fully expect some 'names' to come to the club, not just because money talks, but also because of our management team and the contacts they have in the football league!

Seems like a 'strong and stable' decision ;-)
As I've said before, RH has steadied the ship in the last couple of months; we had a good patch to ensure no thoughts of relegation (not that I ever thought there was any danger of that) and after that, the rest of the season has unsurprisingly been a non-event.
Hess has played and managed non-league successfully before, has also (mostly) done well in Leagues 1 and 2, so as long as he works well together with RH, I see no reason that this won't be a solid appointment. As martfergie says, they shouldn't be short of contacts.

The Non League paper this morning confirms that Ben Strevens and Paul Read will be the coaching team.

Martfergie-none of us know what's going to happen in football. All we can go on are the facts in front of us which are his win ratio -about 30pc and the truly awful diet of football we have been served up including truly shockingly unprofessional displays at Solihull and north ferriby. These point to the fact he is not the man to excite this club and get bums on seats. You can hypothesise, predict and bluster all you like these are the actual facts in front of you.

It's also a fact willk that you can only work with what you have got. The excellent team we had was broken up and is long gone. It will take time and hard work to repair the damage that has been done particularly since December, and to produce anything like the same levels of performance which we had got used to not so long ago. That would apply to whoever were in the hot seat.
