I really do admire people's optimism. Can't see it myself. The rest of the season is a write off at the start of February. That's shocking. How are we building a team for next season if the loan players won't be coming back. It'll be another 8 players in in the summer. They will take time to settle in. The most worrying thing is the style of play. From what I've seen so far it's not going to be pretty. Is that really going to attract a bigger fan base. id have a guess that a large portion of the newer fans are coming to enjoy a day out with mates, a few beers or somewhere to take the kids. They want to be entertained not watch a team lumb it up the pitch to a 6'4 target man and sneak a 1-0 with. I'll renew my season ticket because I know if I don't I won't be forking out £15 a match to watch that. £5 a game is about right at the moment entertainment value wise.

I don't think Martin Allen was bought in for his style of football, It was to gain promotion. We will end up nearer the bottom 4 than the playoffs. We need to build for next season but at the moment there seems to be no game plan or tactics and the players look lost.

The team looks brilliant once players are fit, a solid back line and 2 good keepers to choose from.
Not really sure which team you are talking about looking brilliant? As for a solid back line agree Reda & Cressy are going to be massive for us but not really sure who is going to be playing the other two defensive positions and unless it's Greener none of us have seen them play as a unit or at all yet.
Love the optimism but......

You have to be optimistic monkeyboy that's the great thing about football you never know what's going to happen and that's why we all turn up wanting our team to win week in week out. great debate.

Personally I don't see us making the playoffs from the position we are in now, but there is still a lot to look forward to for the rest of the season. There's a few good teams still to come to the Silverlake, Tranmere & Lincoln come to mind, & wins against them would be high points in what has been a roller coaster of a generally disappointing season. Time for fans to get to know the new players, 'forget' those that have left, get behind the team.
As for pretty football & moans about MA's playing style, don't forget we have one of the worst pitches in the NL for now & if we have to keep the ball off the surface to win games, so be it. Next season, with the promised Desso pitch (I wonder if MA had any influence in SD making that decision) the style has to be more in keeping with what we'd prefer to see.
A few words about the POTM award, won recently by Greener for the 3rd month in a row. I think he only started 2 games in January, so those who voted for him can't have given much thought into who should have the award. Maybe he got votes more out of sentiment, of which there seems to be a lot around at the moment. And no knocking him, but where's the logic in Mekhi McLeod being runner up when he only played 20 mins or so? Perhaps the award should be put on hold ftb, especially if TSSC aren't allowed to make the presentation on the pitch befor a game at the moment?

If the team are winning matches and are at or near the top of the table, the crowds will come irrespective of the quality of football. MA has been brought in to gain promotion, not to play attractive football. Personally I couldn't care less what football we play as long as we win games. At home this year we have been mostly rubbish - but look at the crowds! if we start winning games, we will be packed to the rafters.

I seriously don't know who is in control of the voting??? It's either made up whoever does the counting or somebody has picked him out of sentiment the last 2 months?? It's absolutely crazy

As much as I liked Toddy, we blew this season by not releasing him at the end of last season. A new manager was always going to want to bring in his own players, which is what RM did. I don't think we'll ever hear the real story of why he left (not that it matters), but his departure was the final nail in our seasons coffin. The timing of Martin joining, with the cup games meaning we didn't have a decent run of league games didn't help and again, he was always going to want to bring in his own men. We have to accept that not every season will be successful, but I guess a mid table finish & a 3rd rd of the FA Cup appearance isn't too shabby for our worst season in years! Onwards & Upwards! www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKkIysX2Bow

Isn't it an all round tough job. Get young potential in, if they're good they get sold on. So we're left with experienced older players to do a job, maybe they will, maybe they won't? Either way we don't go up. Consistency and a team built by one manager must be the answer surely.MA has done it before so lets stand by him guys

Of course we should stand by him. I've no doubt come time this year we will be challenging for the league. We should be, he had the budget and the experience. That's why we've given him the job. That's the ideal situation of course. What if we only win 2-4 games until the end of the season. Which given the way we've been playing is a possibility. We arnt going to make the play offs. Do we then decide Allen is not the man for the job or we decide to give him the summer. Which we did with Todd which was obviously the wrong decision. That'll be 2 seasons messed up not just this one.

We didn't mess up this season because we stood by Toddy he went after 4 games ffs and left us with a very strong squad and 42 games to play. We messed it up with who we replaced him with. I don't believe how much leeway Ronnie Moore gets on here he had a great start with Todd's team and then f@$ked it up royally with his management style, who he played and who he brought in before fecking off back up north. We've now replaced him pretty much like for like and are hoping it works this time. Our ambition to go up the leagues is great but it needs long term planning just chucking money at it is not the answer. I worry that the number of signings MA has already made and the people he has signed does not point to long term planning lets hope I'm wrong.

So thats why Greener has won player of the month 3 times in a row !!!!!!!!!!! I don't no how he has won it the last 3 times??? I don't know who does the voting or counting? In December he played twice both away games. Shocking at southport away and not so good at Halifax away. In January he played 1.5 games! And wasn't great in those games. So I certainly don't know who does the voting on players. ?? He hasn't even played. Think it may be a touch of fan nostalgia?? - he does give his all when he plays - tbf a lot depends on the system being played and how the players then fit in and adjust to that

I think the Todd situation is a difficult one. Even allowing for the fact that the last 3 games of last season yielded 1 point the last 12 yielded 22 which is playoff form. He also took over when we had 18 points from 12 games.
However with the increased budget this season there is no doubt that expectations were higher and for a relatively inexperienced manager that was always going to be difficult. At least five of his signings have missed several games through injury, but that just be coincidence.

The player of the month vote is open to any fan who wants to vote!
In truth January wasn't a great month and I can't think of any obvious contenders.
Michael Green is certainly a fans favourite so not surprised he won it.
Hopefully Februarys will be a tough choice with lots of worthy candidates!

Re Todd the above stat is correct, going back to Xmas 2015 his record was just 29 points from 22 games which was probably a way short in terms of points per game.
