Doesn't mention a sell on clause, but there may be one as well.
Wonder what the fee is, 100K?
On the one hand its a shame to lose a highly rated young player, on the other hand if a player wants to make the move and his mind is made up then its generally best to get the best deal you can & sell them.
Onwards!

Two things: Firstly the club record received fee? Wouldn't be surprised if there are caveats to this based on sell ons and appearances etc. Secondly, I think the statement issued by the club is poor by simply saying 'it won't stand in the way of players wanting to move to a higher level.' He's moved to Barnet not Chelsea! This sends a totally mixed message about the ambition of the club. I'd rather the club had said nothing than say this. As I said in a previous post, if we were in the play offs would we be selling? or maybe we would... because the club just don't have the financial clout to compete in the football league or stand in the way of players moving to the mighty Barnet.

I think the statement was a tactful way of allowing LC on his way, rather than saying he has been underperforming big time and the offer was just too good to turn down. Fact is Barnet are higher up the food chain than us, and if he should recapture his form, just outside London, he could well make a move to a championship club. One we would hopefully benefit from.
Personally the LC of the last few weeks I won't miss at all.

m.youtube.com/watch?v=gJR_vY_bMaUInteresting interview, why would Togwell and Bond tell him to leave? Surely you'd want one of the best players to be staying. Seemed to be a few digs too at Allen, they are signing young players, "I wanted to play for a team that plays to feet". Nice to hear some good stuff about how Eastleigh progressed him

Its interesting that Barnet fans are now returning as they change their style of football and getting 'entertained' by the play on the pitch. We don't like long ball football at Eastleigh, but its what we are going to get from MA over the next 18 months. The problem is it may well prove successful in getting out of this league, but it won't progress through League Two.....Barnet have proved that point clearly enough. I'm well aware most fans will say, "lets get out of this league first before we worry about the next level" and this is very true, but you'll have to get used to long ball football, and goals from set pieces, free kicks, corners, long throws if reports are right!!!! When long ball football first appeared in the 1970's it began to lose its soul, the play was dreadful and fans hated it unless you supported teams that succeeded like Middlesbrough, Watford, Wimbledon to name three, the style tore the heart out of football. But since the turn of the century, long ball has faded away by and large, just kept alive by old school managers who won't change or can't. It's going to be an interesting final 3 months of the season to see how we fare. If we go on a winning run everyone will say, "who cares about the style, we're winning and that's all that matters" and that's the really sad part...it is indeed all that matters.

I'm sure MA has been brought in to get us into the FL. End of. If we get there, this season or next, what he ends up doing in 12-18 months' time is another story. I saw a few 'entertaining' league games at the Silverlake in 2016, whether it was under CT, RM, or MA, but not many. The Cup runs were nice, though. The pitch had something to do with it, as did the players we had. But mainly it was down to the managers' use of those players, and the tactics employed. Personally I don't particularly expect much change in the entertainment level in 2017. But I'm hoping for success. Get neither and fans will be unhappy. If we get into the FL, it's a different story, with more money, a chance to build a development squad, and a different league with different requirements (although I'm not sure that FL2 teams are much more skillful than top NL teams - certainly more consistent, though).

Let's see how it goes with the "long ball" game, however, one has to question whether our pitch is conducive to playing "proper or pretty footbal" for 50% of the season. This is no criticism at all of the groundstaff, but we all know how much it cuts up in a game. With the best will in the world, it is difficult for any team to play good passing football on our surface, so maybe the long ball is the way to go? If it does turn out that way, I'm sure those that do not like it will make their views known, but I'm prepared to give MA the benefit of the doubt & not make prior judgements at this stage. With no home win since the end of October, it doesn't matter a great deal to me how we win, so long as we do, in the short to medium term. Oh, and we haven't had a home game on a Saturday at 3pm since the end of November, let's hope the weather is kind between now & next Saturday.

Its fair to say many Barnet fans didnt enjoy the long ball game, but it was the style we played during our promotion season. Was it the style, was it the players, was it Akinde or was it MA, its hard to say I suppose but it clearly work for, comes down to who you have upfront. It became very clear over time that the long ball game wasnt going to work in the Football League. Since MA left and the style changed we kicked on and our now just outside the playoffs (a week ago we were in it). MA does prefer the experienced player but again it worked for us and hopefully works for you too. I for one though am very thankful for MA to get us out of the football league. When he left i was gutted, confused but looking back now and in hindsight I think he took us as far as he could. When you win games and win leagues it is fair to say no one cares how it happened. When you lose the critics and pundits in us all come out

When you say Barnet fans are returning spirit, you are using a pretty small sample and the 3 games they have had since MA left have been a local derby and the top two in the league, that along with the fact that Barnet are having a good season are probably more likely reasons for the increase in crowd figures then any change in style since MA left, surely that will take longer to take effect. I think the truth of the matter, in the whole, is that if a team is winning this creates a buzz and people will come and watch, the purists will always look for quality football but the masses want to win and it doesn't really matter how, especially as for half the match nowadays people are looking at their phone or taking selfies :-) We are fortunate in that we have a Chairman who is also creating a separate buzz even in a season where we haven't been winning and the pricing structure means people will come and help to grow the positive feeling #spitfires

Many were saying they wont come back until he's gone, did they stick to their word? probably not, all heat of the moment stuff I'm sure but it was building, we were in the bottom two. Fair to say it kicked us on a bit after that loss and we got out of the bottom two. Completely agree with the games we have had at home and probably the main reason for the increase in attendance. I think if MA gets the signings right between now and August he will get you up and if he wants to play long ball he needs a target similar to Akinde's size, pace and control

I know MA has a reputation from some as producing longball/dull football but I can only go on what I've seen of him as Eastleigh boss.
Looking at the 3 home games so far I thought the 1-1 with Forest Green was a good game between 2 footballing sides, the 3-3 with Halifax was IMO an enthralling cup tie and I think the 2-2 with Boreham Wood was a fairly decent game too.
Be interesting to see how we get on on a different surface tomorrow.

We can but hope it will be better than Ronnie Moore's last game at Maidstone. Admittedly, frosted plastic (as it was!) is a dire combination... COYB!

Be interesting to see how we get on on a different surface tomorrow. I thought the FGR game was good, I thought the Halifax game was dire for an hour until they scored three goals, aided by poor defending, which forced us into attacking madly for an exciting finish. I thought the BW game was OK, but was frustrating for the home fans. So entertainment-wise a bit of a mixture so far for me, with an improving trend. I think tomorrow is a very important match as regards the rest of our season. It's one we need to win but could easily lose. If we do win it could set us up for a good run and a push for the playoff places. I thought the FGR performance was encouraging but we've had more changes of personnel since then so it's hard to say how we'll be. Talking of Maidstone in the last post, I thought in the home game we were as good as I've seen us for ages (especially in the first half) but away on the 4G.....

4G??? No such thing....I may be wrong but I understood FIFA has only allowed this surface to be used at the 2022 World Cup and remains illegal at this point by all other football authorities...3G has only recently got approval to National Conference by our own FA. It made me smile the other day reading in the paper that Sutton has a massive advantage on their home pitch to clinch promotion last season...they actually got more points away from home. This season however their away form is very poor and possibly that 3G pitch is a big advantage this time round to the extent it should keep them in this division....I personally don't think that is fair.....however Maidstone can't seem to win many on theirs!!!!!
