Never understood why people would leave early when the game is still in the balance, let alone the season, but each to their own, some people go to the game because it gives them something else to moan about, get angry about and generally make them more miserable. I go because it isn't the real world (it's much nearer then the complete pretence of the premier league) but it's a couple of hours a week where I can forget everything else and lose myself in the game, pretend I'm kicking every ball, go bloody mental if my team score and win and get fed up if they lose. But if they didn't lose I wouldn't get the buzz I do from them winning so you've got to have the downs to make the ups more special. Pretty sure that a lot of teams/supporters would swap our current down for theirs. Keep the Faith Spitfires 3 months till it all begins again!!

Amazed that people who have been around the game for years think that by bringing in an experienced manager at this level we will be challenging for the title automatically. In football at any level it seems to me an experienced manager will be someone you could rely on to keep you in the league but getting promoted, from this league in particular, needs a whole lot more. CT has shown enough for me to think he is learning fast and to lead the team to the edge of the play offs shows he is not far off. You need a lot of luck and injuries and suspensions have probably cost us more than anything else this year. Cannot beleive that SD brought him in with anything other than a minimum of an 18 month plan, unless it was clear he couldn't cope at this level, think the recent run shows he can. Looking forward to a summer of exciting signings.

Instead of trying to manufacture one which always causes someone to cry foul why don't we use what we already sing?
Depeche Mode - I Just Can't Get Enough
Easy lyrics we all know and lots of us sing already

Beano and Tubbs up front so I predict Sattsy to say 'told you they will never score' at 9.30 or before if one of them gets subbed. COYS

Definately wasn't attributing all the comments to you Sattsy but with regard the lucky/unlucky bit all the good teams are lucky and the poor ones can always point to a bad decision here an injury there. I just think overall our position is not the one of doom and gloom you would think reading the forum. Any season is a journey with highs and lows if you have more of the former you should try and remember them rather then the lows. too much depression in the world already COYS

I know it's a very British trait to have your 'plastic' glass half full and I know that life is not a bed of roses even in the good times, however:-
We have won 5 of our last 8 games We are unbeaten in 6 We have only conceded once in the last 5 games We are sitting just outside the play-off positions with 6 games to go The sun is shining (more often than not at the moment)
Yet we are saying on here:- That we have only had one creditable win in that period (and that was by luck) That we are setting up not to loose games (rather than trying to win them) Our Strikers are not good enough Our defenders cannot pass Our midfielders are by passed Our goalie is at fault for every goal conceded Our best options are on loan elsewhere
This is why we have plastic glasses in the bar, it would be far to risky to have real glass, it would be a bloodbath. The Samaritans should be our main shirt sponsor next year!!!

Braintree have got three tough games in the next 8 days including two long Tuesday trips, Dover have got some serious travelling to do in the same period with 3 long away days. Given current form I'm thinking 80 points might be a stretch for all of the teams below Grimsby, which brings Tranmere back into it and their last two games are us and Grimsby! Going to be an exciting run in from here COYS

vs Basingstoke on Boxing Day one year, can't remember which year but 2000 and something, pretty sure it ended 3-2 although I'm not sure if we won or lost, then attended the odd game once in a while before committing to a season ticket last season. Love the thread and given the references to Sholing Sports v Eastleigh I may have seen them play there when I was at school as we went a lot, but I wouldn't have a clue if they were even in the same league when I was going let alone if I saw them!

I've seen plenty enough to think that CT can do a good job at Eastleigh and thoughts of sacking him at this stage seem very premature and a little disrespectful (to me). No problem with people paying their money and having their view, but he is a young Manager, we knew that when he started, he has been in the job 6 months has more than a 50% win ratio in the league and we are still within a shout this season, them's good apples. Not sure what the expectations are from above in respect of his targets for this season but I guess that is what he will be judged by and if SD was expecting promotion then the decision is already made, however I would hope that if he was trusted with the position in September then we would give him at least 18 months as a target not 6! Are there many Managers/Players around who are going to be able to provide free flowing football on the pitch we have had since the beginning of the year? Before then I thought the style of play was enjoyable (the draw with Aldershot was a very entertaining match from where I stood). Appreciate that some may think we should be further along the journey by now, but in my view we are still galloping forward at this level. I'm not saying we should sack Todd. I am saying that personally, come the end of the season, a contract renewal is not just about results for me. You have to think a year ahead, and personally, on everything I've seen, I'm not sure next season would be any different. You say Tomatoes I say Tom'a'toes!!! I think he has the potential to grow with the Club, but it's all a very steep learning curve and given the life span of any football Manager is heading towards a 12 month average I wouldn't be surprised if change happened, just a bit disappointed at this stage

Would have to be a real change in form for the team's above us not to at least get 82/83 points and same change for us to get near 80 so it's probably done. However stranger things have happened and 'I'D REALLY LOVE IT IF WE BEAT THEM' Happy Easter ?
