It is difficult to predict how this one will go as he is relatively new to non-league and club management, but is well respected at Southampton football and probably has a lot of local football contacts.
On the subject of goalkeepers I do not think he is the first goalkeeper to manage Eastleigh as I think that Don Broomfield had a couple of spells as caretaker manager.
I have seen a lot of non-league clubs managed by goalkeepers, but in the professional game those not already mentioned include George Swindin (third placed in the old Division 1 with Arsenal), George Farm (won the Scottish cup with Dunfermline), while Brian Clough's long term assistant Peter Taylor was also a goalkeeper and had a short spell as manager in his own right. Most of the more recent appointments have already been mentioned or have been very short term appointments,

Just to show how hard it is to get the right manager in.
Messiahs Cowleys 1 win in 8, should have brought them in after Bradbury for sure
Hinshelwood on a reported £147k a year 3 year deal at York from 50k at Worthing with a 200k payout, already hated at York after 4 games 0 wins and humped last night, after doing very well with Worthing

Did York (on the brink of relegation) give out a 3 year contract? That’s mental.
It’s tricky, feels like there is a large element of chance involved.

Yep has moved up family and pulled kid out of Brighton academy. Worthing still not appointed full time manager yet... Might get into football when I grow up must be one of few careers you can fail in September and get paid monthly till the end of the season or the next one, or the next one, get another job in the meantime and double bubble it up.

I was up for Hinshelwood or Maynard for Eastleigh...both struggled at new clubs...guess they were just flavour of the month really
