My first pick would be Paul Tisdale, has contacts and I think would have the building up the club know how as well.
Second choice Matt Gray ex Sutton manager?
Third choice I reckon Luke Gerrards done what he can at Boreham Wood

Third choice I reckon Luke Gerrards done what he can at Boreham Wood Gray would be a good choice and Tisdale has pedigree. Not a fan of Garrards style of play but you can't argue with his results.

Typically in this situation you’d expect a club to appoint a manager to the end of the season & then reassess then. Richard hill (!) has performed that role before.
I think the thing is the job till the end of the season and the job from the summer onwards are 2 different things and may well not be best suited by the same person.
Internal caretaker till the end of the season? External caretaker till the end of the season?
Penny for Stewart Donald’s thoughts

I don’t think we have anyone suitable for an internal caretaker in the position we’re in now. Jason has been part of 3 squads and didnt win a game taking over from Strevs

His Yeovil and Woking teams over the last couple of years have been the most unpleasant to watch here. Yes, Neil Harris has just signed as Cambridge manager. The other two mentioned here would be fine but I'm not sure we're at that level. Same goes for Paul Tisdale. He'd be a potential Director of Football too.

I don't care who it is as long as he plays entertaining football. Hills style was so boring!!!

If we're going for a younger man, i'll go either Mark Cooper (Yeovil) or Adam Hinshelwood (Worthing). MC has managed above this league, but Adam has only managed National South and below, but i hear really good things about him. If we're going for experience, i'll go Garry Johnson, who the Torquay fans want out anyway, bags of experience and has won this league and the FA Trophy, plus he's won L2 and was runner up in L1. I believe we tried to get him a few years back, but it didn't materialise.

Thing that concerns me is who is doing the recruiting of the new manager? There might be a risk right now from not just the loss of Richard Hill as the team manager but also the vacuum he is leaving behind him across many aspects of the club's operation. His influence on the club's longer term direction was quite wide from player contracts, market knowledge, football experience, agent contacts etc etc. I think we already took a bigger knock than we might have realised when we lost Kenny Amor. With Richard gone as well, Stuart now just has Tom Coffey as continuity from the top management team which effectively has run the club over the years. Tom I imagine does a great job but Eastleigh FC needs a strong multi faceted football savvy backroom as well as a new team manager. Perhaps even before a new team manager. Is there any scope for Kenny coming back in the future does anyone know? In the meantime it's interesting to speculate about contenders for manager or first team coach. Cooper? (Sattsy's recommendation) sounds a good shout. Widdrington? Would shake this side up no end whatever we think of him. Strevs? The only other manager to get us to the play offs and, were it not for a couple of penalty shoot out misses at Salford, he would have had us in the league for sure. Lea and Suraci? Very young and not very experienced but their Gosport side I watched playing Salisbury yesterday would probably beat Eastleigh on current form and are doing at Gosport what far more revered coaches have not managed. Just ask Danny Hollands who is still playing a key role in their side. I suspect they have got good backroom resources there though as there has been some excellent player recruitment so might need to bring that in as well.

I'm not sure Cooper would move, Yeovil looking very good for promotion. Not sure on Johnson now.

Can't really see Widdrington coming, what do we offer over Aldershot. Not sure Strevs would come back now, shame we got rid in hindsight. I thought about the Gosport pair but its too big a jump for them/risk for us

Just appoint someone to the end of the season on a short term Deal. I think that’s the thing to do now.
Gives you a proper amount of time to assess all the options & make a long term decision. There will also be more managers available in the summer. If the short term option does well also the option of extending their time here.
I guess the immediate decision (tomorrow I assume) is who is caretaker for the Oxford game?

I reckon Alex pike if we are keeping it in-house or Matt Gray if not, till the end of the season. No interviews just appoint now
