Maidenhead have been letting in quite a few lately and haven’t won for well over 2 months. Let’s hope we can get 3 points today. I reckon a 2-1 win

An Academy Lad, I think. Hopefully, he’ll be able to score at this level.
“ A remarkable night of football saw 11 goals scored as Eastleigh’s Second Year Scholars progressed into the First Round Proper of the FA Youth Cup with an 8-3 win over Yeovil Town.
Malachi Dotse and Balraj Singh both scored hattricks, as Leo Downing and Lewis Williams also found the back of the net for the young Spitfires.”

Poor result against a poor team because of a poor manager. I am sorry today is more evidence that the Richard Hill decision is just the strangest thing the club have done some for time. We are not going to improve under his stewardship

After an excellent performance v York that's 2 very poor results in a row....some big games coming up now Sorry, it was an ok performance v York they also are not a great side. We have been no better under Richard Hill than we were under Lee Bradbury - those persons advocating better football since LB's sacking are delusional. Still the same failings and that's 2 in a row abject performances against a below average Woking and a relegation candidate today in Maidenhead. We have had relatively easier games in the last few games and have not impressed, I cannot see this current squad being capable of anything more than mid table and if they perform like today then bottom third beckons. Bradbury may well of deserved his cards but Hill is no better at getting more out of the team.

Agreed. Bradbury wasn’t the answer but neither is hill. Need some fresh blood.
Come on let’s sort it out, looking like a wasted season otherwise

The reality is we are not a good side at the moment, mainly because we have no pace in the team. We have a number of solid pros who’s best days are behind them they just do not have the legs to play the game with an injection of speed. Ironically the one youngster who does have legs Rutherford cannot get a game. He is not left footed but if he does come on he is positioned on the left flank. For goodness sake he is the only player with pace get him foraging down the rhs and see if he can open up opposition defence. But he is not going to do it on his own. Sadly the whole team needs a major revamp. I doubt there is a short term solution we must face up to the fact we are MEDIOCRE, which for a club that surely has ambition and a play off budget is very disappointing

Rutherford did play the game on the right today. I’m not convinced by his end product. It has been blamed on a lack of pace for a while. Not even sure when the last time we had a pacey player was. Thought Harris in midfield was absolutely woeful today and set the tone in the first 10 seconds by sloppily giving the ball away. Can see why he was replaced on 25 mins. Panter was possibly the victim of a tactical change but again passing wasn’t good. Second half I thought was better. I think I just feel annoyed at the moment that we’re not getting any answers, why are we selling carter? Why did we keep bradbury just to sack him after 5 games with no apparent successor? why after going through a recruitment process did we just go to the DOF? Would like to know what the long term plan is.

It was a shocker no doubt about that, and while Richard Hill spoke out about it being an unacceptable performance, he did'nt seem to be doing much himself, pacing up and down his area, arms folded and head down, particularly in the second half. Something is'nt right behind the scenes, when Bradbury became manager was he really the best applicant for the job of those who applied? When Bradbury was sacked, is it really possible no applicant was suitable for the job? Richard will get enough points on the board to keep the proud record of never being relegated, but surely his appointment is for this season only. And maybe that's part of the problem, the players know he is only short term so its a mess. In the first half we only had one touch of the ball in the Maidenhead penalty area, a tame header, not at goal either, trying to bring another player in, but it was cleared. The only shot on goal just before half time was a pile driver from outside the box from Atangana, bringing a good save from their keeper to keep it out of the top left corner. Second half we were better, but the lack of pace is a problem when attacking. Its been said before but getting older experienced players in who lack pace is a big problem, we're coming back full circle to the days of old in this respect. I hope Stewart Donald knows who the next manager coming in is, and that we have to wait to get him until the summer. We need a manager to create a young side and build on it over two seasons, with the aim that in the second season we achieve at least a play off spot, and the third season if not promoted, we'd be a title challenging team, by which time hopefully there will be two automatic promotion spots available. Baby steps first, a three year plan to hopefully bear fruit.

The reality is we have a squad that was built not to lose under the old manager. Once he had gone we have tried to change those tactics to a more positive approach. It has worked on occasions, but we really don't have the players able to play that way consistently - especially without our only regular goalscorer. This is going to be a season treading water until we bring in a new manager at the end of the season (I have said all along I believe this is the plan). I also have always said that I the fact that a club our size has consistently managed to hold our own in this division is a huge achievement.

I sort of agree with most comments, or least get where they are coming from.
Ending up treading water is a bit rubbish though given what we are spending compared to previous seasons. I actually think if we are a bit more ambitious, look to add pace up front and a more dynamic box to box midfielder, the squad suddenly looks better, even if they have to be loans. With 7th getting you in the play offs and a lot of teams able to beat each other you are always in with a shout in this league.

Let’s face it, anything Bradbury did was no good in your blinkered estimation. Give him some credit he did overachieve last season on the budget provided despite the late season collapse. I agree the squad composition is unbalanced, but the DoF also must take some of the blame for the signings. The football under Hill has barely been any better and of late we have played weaker sides and the last 2 games have been utterly crap. Take off the rose tinted sunglasses as the football served up is no less attacking and the defending, passion and commitment are currently in reverse!
