The deal is subject to FA and National League Approval.
Does this make this a premature announcement?

Hmmm.... has only played 25 league games in the last three seasons, wonder why? Went for a decent fee from Saints to Huddersfield and did well there for a couple of seasons, but seems to have lost his way since.
So can he come down to the NL and get it back again? We've not done badly with players like that before - AH describes him as 'young and hungry', which is encouraging.
I'm sure someone else would have found this classic effort when he played for Saints, so I'll put it up, which, to be fair, seems to have been a one-off aberration.......
Welcome to Oscar, and good luck, if indeed it's not a premature announcement. Good to see the arrivals begin.

I'd like to be excited but I have followed this guy through his career since he was at Southampton and supposedly the next big thing, and all I can say is that he has got considerably worse each year. Hopefully, he will find his feet in this league and take advantage of the step-down, but judging by the last few woeful seasons he has had, I'm not filled with confidence and could be another Gavin Hoyte. That being said, I'm willing to give him a chance and wish him well here.

'He is young and hungry' No he's not, he's 27. He should be at the prime of his career but his career is on the slide out of league football. Time will tell but underwhelmed.

An Eastleigh player the right side of 30 I think counts as young! Yeovil must have though the was worth keeping as he was on non-contract terms last season. Welcome Oscar

Most worrying thing for me, is that in the last 10 years, he is averaging just 12 games a year.

Most important thing here.. 1 year contract.
If he has a good season he will more than likely earn himself a move to a football league club. If he has a poor season or it doesn't work out the club can get rid of him...
Look at the number of older pedigree players we have signed and how a few of them have turned out.
I think this is a great signing, 27 probably feels he has a point to prove...
Well done AH & BS, let's hope we see a few more similar to Oscar.

All new signings will be 1 year contract, and the option of a 2nd year will be from EFC...NOT the player, which is where things started going wrong and EFC is still paying the price for that. Matt Lewton nearly destroyed this club with the deals he offered players, though as we all know, SD admitted his mistakes in signing off those contracts without reading the small print. Never again will players have the option of staying and not leaving even when they haven't earned it.

A year and a half ago Stewart posted this on the forum and six people liked the posting. I think that now a lot of people will disagree with these sentiments.
We do not have a Director of football. We are unlikely to have one unless we can get close to the Championship I would imagine. Matt Lewton has been brought into the club to help with scouting, player recruitment, contracts and dare I say it player sales. He is a very well connected and extremely hardworking guy who has a lot of experience and contacts. He impressed us in a few dealings we had and we thought he would be an asset to the club.
I will reflect on a job title for him over the Christmas period but in essence he helps Martin and myself with whatever we ask from organising Travel, ensuring the players have what they need, lunches, scouting, and all the things mentioned above. With the type of players and profile of the club now one big area we have not particularly needed before is maximising interest in our players to ensure we get the right transfer fees and structure when selling players. I have no experience of this and we have 3 players attracting a lot of interest - possibly 4. We do not want to lose them but if we do then we certainly need to make sure we get good value. With no experience of this at the club and not many contacts at clubs in higher leagues Matt's knowledge and contact will be vital - he should ensure we get a fair price and structure to any deal. Whoever our manager is at any given time will always have contacts but we need to have our own permanent ones. Matt helps with this.

It is all history now but for any who may not understand precisely what ML was like he was overheard telling an Eastleigh player "You do things my way or you will be out of the club like a shot, I decide who comes and goes here not the manager" The fan who overheard the remark was friendly enough with SD to tell him and when asked directly by SD, ML denied making such a comment, but from then he had his card marked. He was a big time Charlie who thought he had power and even though he left 18 months ago, it will still be another 12 months before this club fully recovers from the damage he did. Obviously when the season begins the team will be aiming for a top seven place and if we start reasonably well that will hopefully be a realistic target as the season progresses. I would see that as a bonus season before we are truly back in business when the ML era is over for good.

And if things go wrong next season it will be brought up again and again, a ready made excuse for the next 12 months if required!!!!
