In case you haven't seen Twitter:
'There is no pitch inspection planned for today's game. Should the weather worsen, we will give updates when necessary'.
Other local games: Totton and Gosport already off. Fareham was definitely on at 8am.
Just after lunch, all afternoon, supposed to be the windiest, showers possible all day. Think I'll check (probably more than once) before travelling! EDIT: as of 1200, local weather forecast looking slightly better for this afternoon! EDIT EDIT: forecast now showing heavy showers 1400 -1600 so basically they haven't got a clue

Is Danny Hollands injured? Doesn't seem to be. I think he's the one who gives us stability in central midfield at the moment. Must start. . Spoke to Danny last week - he’s not injured but was serving a one match ban after having five yellow cards.

Couldn't make the game today, nearly threw my phone when I checked the score at 93 mins. A win to be proud of or not at all?

We should be really pleased with a win, but the way we let a 2-0 lead slip was appalling. First 20mins we played well , and by half-time could have been 2-0 up. Second half we came out as if we would be happy to win 1-0 until Beano goal put us in the driving seat. From that position we should have pushed on looking to score 3 or 4, but we became complacent & with poor passing all over the pitch allowed Gateshead, who for most of the game looked worse than us, back into the game. A draw from 2-0 up would have been a dreadful result, but suddenly we woke up & it was the sort of goal we know Yeates is capable of that won it. Even at that late stage, Gateshead were given an opportunity to level again. We just don't seem to know how to kill a game off. Relieved at the result more than happy about it. Must do better.

Can't really argue with that. Relieved to get a win but had it finished 2-2 I would've said the difference was the managers substitutions. Feel Watson made the right ones and brought on dangerous players whilst we tried to shut up shop which seemingly we can't do very well! I think it worked well having more attacking players on the field we created more today. Need to keep it up Tuesday arguably playing the worst team in the league at home so need 3 points for sure

A win, however scrappy, relieves a deal of pressure. We sit 7 points off the (extended) play-offs and 6 points off the relegation places with a game in hand.
Tuesday night's match really is a must win - against the bottom club who have lost 7 out of 8 of their away games - and push us back towards a genuine mid-table position. If we can get to Christmas in the 12-14th place range, then I for one will be very happy. No FA Cup distractions will help this term, too.
Crowd of 1597 was the 4th or 5th highest of the day.

Thought we played well most of the time but seemed to fade at the end of both halves. Something to look at? As is how we handle scrambles in either penalty area. We seem to concede from them and not score from them.
Was surprised Johnson and Burrow didn't start for Gateshead up front anyway, so wasn't surprised to see them threaten our defence at the end.
Cresswell was superb on his comeback, probably formed an even better partnership with Howe than Boyce has. When Boyce comes back on Tuesday I'd suggest putting one of the three at right-back. As I said earlier in the thread, Hollands made our midfield so much better; I thought Beano did well too, providing some cover for Ayo too. He scored a great goal but should have had another one at the end which nearly cost us the win. Williamson was excellent up front, he was back to his usual style of running around, putting pressure in the opposition, and gambling on situations, which is how he scored his (very well-taken) goal.
We really should win on Tuesday, if we do, then as you say mid-table beckons. Don't know how many other teams count all season-ticket holders, so not sure if crowd comparison is worth it. My estimate was about 1300 inside the ground today. Credit to the visiting supporters (number not announced), long journey, with dodgy weather.

Crowd comparison is certainly not worth it when season ticket holders are already counted in the figure. As for 1,300? Doubt it crept over 1,000. Very quiet walk up the lane at 2:50pm.

I’m sure the highlight of your weekend will be decided soon Not the highlight of my weekend(which was a sex swop evening) but came a close second. Were you there and what did you think or did you leave early and miss our winning goal.
