I thought we battled a bit harder and looked a bit more organised than last week. The result may have been slightly fortunate, but the goal and the point should be massive in giving everyone a bit of confidence.
Aldershot were really impressive for an hour, they looked very confident with the ball. I'm pretty sure they'd have won comfortably with 11. They seemed to sit on their lead a bit after an hour, which enabled us to put a bit of pressure on and ultimately get the equaliser.
Individually: I thought that Clarke didn't always look confident but made some important saves; Hoyte looked poor both defensively, and later on when trying to attack, but he's only just come back from injury; I think these two central defenders could make a decent partnership with more time together, but the goal showed that they still need to work at it, though; Togwell looked like he was still playing for Martin Allen; Stearn showed promise but again faded a bit after the break; Wilson ran around a lot but was pretty ineffectual; Macca again held the line well, and Beano looked OK when he came on. Not sure how well having all three forwards worked near the end, but we got the goal and point and that's what matters.
Lots of falling over and gamesmanship from Aldershot in the last half hour, which wound their fans up. Their fans also managed to provide a firework, which must have been pretty unpleasant in that packed side stand. The ref seemed quite sympathetic to them, apart from the (correct) red card.
Big game at York next Saturday. They got a great result last night but are drawing too many to move up the table, so i'd go for another draw on Saturday.
Gary Waddock will be looking further up the leagues for his next job. Aldershot may do well to hang onto him if they don't go up. They've nearly caught up on the top 5 but need to keep that level of performance going if they're going to get into the playoffs.

Willk - I'm really not sure why you post on the forum.
You are always negative about the club and the performances. There is never even any constructive criticism. You are nearly always negative about the posters on this forum, and even make negative generalisations about their social backgrounds. You wildly exaggerate the number of 'happy clappers' on the forum. You never comment on individual incidents in games, on the players, or the management, or the club (you say this is not your job).
So what do you get out of doing this? I can't see it benefits either yourself, or the forum, for you to do it.

Not the best of performances last night. Yes, against 10 men we should have done better, but when you look at some of the ref's decisions, a point was a good result. Fisrt half we were asleep, 2nd half they showed a bit of fight, maybe too little too late, but it was there.IMO Wilson was pushed off the ball too easily. Passing not great, but the spirit was there. Tough game Saturday, if they can show the level of determination they did in the second half, who knows, maybe an upset on the cards. Now is the time ti back the team and show our support.

Taken from the Aldershot Forum :
Re: MATCH NIGHT THREAD vs £astleigh Quote Postby Jimmy Riddle » Wed Mar 01, 2017 12:01 am Just back and gutted we conceded although with the land of the Giants they looked Very dangerous at corners and crosses.
Kellerman was having a stormer. It was over other side and if foot raised ( difficult to see) he went in very forcefully and red couldn't wait to get his red card out. We were then absolutely superb up to half time.
Eastleigh came up second half and we are pinned back for a while. Fenelon had a superb chance one on one to win game in the dying seconds.
The referee was hopeless, he could of easily booked a number of Eastleigh players much earlier. Hoyt's should of been booked for a trip on Kanu after playing advantage.their keeper could of been booked for wasting time in the first half. The two centre halfs blatant use of elbows throughout the game etc etc.
EASTLEIGH really is a sh@t club.
No nearby parking. 2 turnstiles open. Temporary stand down our side. Sh!t pitch. Letting cars drive round a single road when fans are coming in. Awful floodlights. Obviously making the crowd up. There was nowhere near 2500 there and would guess more than 700 from the decent part of Hampshire. Portacabins everywhere. Opposite the away side in the far corner football playing On the telly in the cabins while game going on. Some derelict type building behind the home end. An owner who knows nothing about football. A team of absolute mercenaries on the pitch who will be unemployed come June.
I really hope they capitulate.

So, let's get this into perspective......We have a chairman that "knows nothing about football" - their chief exec quit because "there was no evidence that the major shareholder Kris Machala had the ability to fund the club"
Five days after their relegation from the Football League, Aldershot Town officially entered administration. The club fell with debts of over £1 million, and players wages went unpaid.
And finally they sold their soul to Chelsea with a 2 year deal back in 2013.............
At least we'll never sink to their level ;-)

For my pains I used to follow the old Aldershot club, Aldershot FC (1921) and the re-born Town until the early 2000s. You missed the best bit of Aldershot's so-successful history. This from the Non-League paper - "On 31 July 1990, Aldershot were wound up in the High Court as the Official Receiver condemned them as "hopelessly insolvent" with debts of £495,000. However, the winding-up order was lifted on 7 August 1990 when a 19-year-old "property developer" Spencer Trethewy paid £200,000 to save the club and allow them to start the new Fourth Division campaign. It soon emerged that Trethewy did not have the funds to keep the club running, and he was dismissed from the board on 1 November 1990. Trethewy's dealings finally caught up with him in 1994 when he was convicted of fraud and received a two-year prison sentence, reduced on appeal to eleven months." I wonder whatever happened to him?

Aldershot - a club twice going into administration and I read a few months ago there were struggling financially and could have to do so again. So over the last couple of decades loads of people have been effectively robbed, by this football club. I never want any club to go out of business, but clubs who don't pay their way, and shaft dozens if not hundreds of ordinary working people, have absolutely no right to tell me what a crap club I support.
Were I an Aldershot fan, I would be embarrassed and ashamed of the club I supported, and I would also be doing my best to ensure the debts they accumulated were paid off. So to the Aldershot fan posting rubbish on his forum, how about you put a sock in your gob, put your hand in your pocket and start to be pay off the debts you still owe, and will always owe until settled. PS You still haven't beaten us - ha bloody ha!

Sad and pathetic Michael.....thought you were a better man than that. We seem to have lost the plot lately on here, frustration rules as we stumble on wondering when the nightmare will end.

I think that the question regarding Spencer Trethewy is probably being asked rhetorically, but if that is not the case he has changed his name to Spencer Day who is currently manager of Farnborough.

Aldershot twice going bankrupt owing lots of money to lots of ordinary men and women is indeed sad and pathetic. As for the nightmare... there is light at the end of the tunnel, last night was better, the second half atmosphere was the best its been for a while and Stewart and RH will get us over the line. Come Summer all will be refreshed, hope will return and come August these dark days will be long forgotten. For Gods sake man show a bit of faith. The time for despair is gone. Encouragement, hope, and commitment is what we need now. As a man once said "when the going gets tough, the tough get going." Lets be tough LETS GET GOING!
